Cat survives being walled in under bath for 7 weeks
"A four-year-old cat in Germany called Bonny has survived after being walled in beneath a bathtub for seven weeks, its owner said Tuesday.
"It's a miracle," said Monika Hoppert, a 60-year-old widow from the western town of Stadthagen. "I'm a strong believer, I think she must have had a guardian angel. I'm so happy."
Bonny disappeared on June 19 while workmen were replacing pipes in the block of flats where Hoppert lives. The black cat was last seen in a neighboring apartment, where the cladding around a bathtub had been removed.
Just before tub was sealed up again, Bonny had probably crept underneath, Hoppert said.
By the time the neighbor heard Bonny's plaintive miaowing from behind the tiles on August 8, the cat's weight had dropped from 13 pounds to 4 pounds.
"I couldn't believe it. But when I got down there, I knew it was my cat because they all have their own voice," said Hoppert.
Bonny was so weak the vet recommended she be put down. But Hoppert nursed her back to health with watered down kitten food.

Pet cloning: woman pays $50,000 to clone dog
A California woman has paid scientists $50,000 (£25,000) to create five identical copies of her beloved pit bull terrier.
South Korean geneticists today unveiled five identical copies of Booger, the pit bull terrier, created for his American owner. The five clones cost Bernann McKinney, a Californian-based farmer, £25,000 ($50,000) and according to her, they were well worth it.
"Booger was my partner and my friend," McKinney said, as she collected the five puppies, named Booger Bernann, Booger Ra, Booger Lee, Booger Hong and Booger Park.
When Booger got cancer, McKinney had skin cells taken from the dog and preserved in the hope that science would come to her aid. Scientists at Seoul National University then created a number of embryos from those cells, which where then implanted into two surrogate mother dogs. The puppies were born on July 28.
The company has stated that they are now open for future bookings.

Alina shouldn't have any Tupperware in her cupboards, it's toxic. She should dig her Nalgene bottles out of the basement, but not to use, to recycle, they're also toxic.
It's a sad day when convenience trumps health. Whatever happened to good old canning jars? You know, the ones like your mom used to use. That's what I use.
Instead of re-using your plastic bottles, invest in a few quality stainless steel ones. I would stay away from the lined aluminum bottles, just to be on the safe side. Re-using glass works well for adults. The sport caps on the stainless steel bottles from Kleen Kanteen work great for toddlers, and they even have a baby top.
