    • New girly videogames based on teen movies

Because videogames, let's be honest, have so far mostly appealed to only half the population (the one with doodles), videogame makers have long been racking their brains trying to come up with a way to attract that other half (the ones with hoo-has). It's that eternal dance of nerds trying to woo ladies and failing miserably. But now they've got a new plan that's sure to work! Video games based on girly movies like Mean Girls, Clueless, and Pretty In Pink.

Paramount is developing all of these as so-called "casual titles." We don't really know what that means (maybe our brother site Kotaku does), but we like to guess challenges include fighting all the junior girls in a hallway battle royale, running around the Valley dodging muggers and the sleazy Elton's car, and trying to do the Duckie prom dance while dodging Bolo tie projectiles. Squeeeeallll doesn't it sound fun? So much better than those games where you just indiscriminately kill people. Right?

    • Bosnia war crime suspect Karadzic captured!

"(CNN) -- Bosnian Serb leader Radovan Karadzic has been arrested after more than a decade as a fugitive from war crimes charges, the U.N. tribunal that charged him announced Monday.

Karadzic, 63, was the Serb political leader during the 1992-1995 war that followed Bosnia-Herzegovina's secession from Yugoslavia. He is charged with genocide, crimes against humanity and violations of the law of war.

No details of his arrest were immediately available. But the chief prosecutor for the U.N. tribunal, Serge Brammertz, called it "an important day for the victims" and congratulated Serbian authorities for taking him into custody.

"It is also an important day for international justice, because it clearly demonstrates that nobody is beyond the reach of the law and that sooner or later all fugitives will be brought to justice," Brammertz said.

He said authorities "in due course" will determine when Karadzic is to be transferred to the tribunal at The Hague.

His arrest leaves former Gen. Ratko Mladic, the Bosnian Serb military commander, as the top-ranking war crimes suspect still at large.

Karadzic, a onetime psychiatrist, declared himself president of a Serb republic within Bosnia after the former Yugoslav republic declared its independence in 1992.

Backed by Serb-led Yugoslav troops, the Bosnian Serbs launched a campaign against the country's Muslim and Croat population that introduced the world to the term "ethnic cleansing."

In 1995, the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia accused Karadzic and Mladic of leading that campaign, ordering the roundup of thousands of non-Serb civilians into camps where they were killed, tortured or sexually assaulted.

Karadzic is also charged with genocide in connection with the killings of nearly 8,000 Bosnian Muslim men and boys at Srebrenica, the worst European massacre since World War II."

    • China targets foreign entertainers after Bjork debacle

"BEIJING (Reuters) - China will ban all entertainers from overseas, Hong Kong and Taiwan who have ever attended activities that "threaten national sovereignty," the government said on Thursday, after an outburst by Icelandic singer Bjork.

Earlier this year, Bjork shouted "Tibet! Tibet!" at a Shanghai concert having performed her song "Declare Independence," which she has used in the past to promote independence movements in other places such as Kosovo.

China has ruled Tibet with an iron hand since its troops marched into the Himalayan region in 1950, and swiftly condemns any challenge to its authority there.

"Any artistic group or individual who have ever engaged in activities which threaten our national sovereignty will not be allowed in," the Ministry of Culture said in a statement on its website ( http://www.ccnt.com.cn ).

During performances, entertainers who "threaten national unity," "whip up ethnic hatred," "violate religious policy or cultural norms" or "advocate obscenity or feudalism and superstition," will also be banned, the rules state.

The new rules come on top of Beijing banning pop festivals and tightening approvals for outdoor events in the months leading up to the Olympics, where it fears security threats from unruly crowds and potential protesters.

Even encores need to be approved in advance, the ministry added.

"Nothing that has not been approved will be allowed to be performed," it said."

    • Rastas can keep their weed

"Italy's supreme Court of Cassation has ruled that members of the Rastafari faith can possess 'abundant' quantities of marijuana because smoking it is an integral part of their religion.

The ruling was made in response to an appeal by an Italian against his sentence of one year and four months, as well as a 4,000-euro fine, for possession of some 50g of marijuana inflicted by a Perugia court in 2004.

The Rastafari faith, the court pointed out, allows its member to smoke even 10g of marijuana a day.

Rastas believe that marijuana grew on the tomb of King Salomon and that by smoking it they can drawn strength from his wisdom."

"Apparently the editors of People have a bit of a problem differentiating between Asian males. On page 38 of this week's issue, in which an interview with Korean Speed Racer actor Karl Yune is accompanied by text identifying him as Korean pop star Rain.

Still, there are two reasons why the mistake is particularly unforgivable. One: Rain, who routinely places first in Time magazine's "100 Most Influential People" online poll, honestly looks nothing like Yune. Two: the story was written by someone named Alexis Chiu, whom we assume is Asian and should thus totally have known better."

    • Biofuels starving our people, leaders tell UN

The leaders of Bolivia and Peru have attacked the use of biofuels, saying they have made food too expensive for the poor.

Speaking at the United Nations, the Bolivian president, Evo Morales, said the increased use of farmland for fuel crops was causing a "tremendous increase" in food prices.

The Reuters news agency reported that the Peruvian president, Alan Garcia, also spoke out, calling on developed countries to grow more food. In the last few months, food prices in Peru have run ahead of the country's general rate of inflation.

Their attack coincided with a report published today by the environmental group Friends of the Earth warning the EU of the perils of expanding biofuel use in Latin America. Last year the EU agreed on a target of 10% biofuel use for transport 2020.

The report said the certification schemes being set up by some South American countries to ensure sustainable production of sugar cane and soya bean crops were not enough to prevent damage to the environment and "fail to address the biggest problems" caused by the cultivation of land currently covered by forests or smaller farms.

In his UN comments, Morales criticised "some South American presidents" for pushing biofuels. The Bolivian president did not name them but his views are in sharp contrast to those of the Brazilian president, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, who has said developing countries have enough land to produce both food and biofuels.

Morales called on developed nations to accept that problems created by biofuels in developing countries were partly their responsibility. After his speech, he told a news conference that "it is not an internal problem, it is an external problem".

"This is very serious," he said. "How important is life and how important are cars? So I say life first and cars second."

In his UN speech, Morales called for the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank to take action against the biofuel industry "in order to avoid hunger and misery among our people".

Reuters reported Garcia as saying biofuels were "creating very serious problems for countries that have to import these (food) products. We believe there are alternative energies that do not put the world's food in danger."

Peru's government has been forced to hand out food to the poorest in the country's capital, Lima, because of the crisis caused by rising food prices. It has cut tariffs and raised interest rates to try to curb inflation, which rose 4% last year.

Both leaders are facing challenges to their authority. This month, Garcia's approval rating sank to 26% - the lowest since he took office in 2006 - and 57% of those polled said rising prices was the main reason for their disapproval.

Morales, meanwhile, is fighting opposition leaders in four eastern provinces who want significant autonomy from the central government.

    • McCain isn't the only one Huckabee is "damaging"

For the past few months, amateur bassist (oh and presidential hopeful) Mike Huckabee has been performing Boston’s “More Than a Feeling” at campaign events — sometimes even with onetime Boston guitarist Barry Goudreau.

Insert the problem: Boston mastermind Tom Scholz, who wrote and played every guitar part on “More Than a Feeling,” is an Obama supporter, and he’s pissed off (a similar disagreement recently went down between John McCain and John Mellencamp).

So Mr. Scholz decided to write Mr. Huckabee an open letter...read it and then let's hear your thoughts?

    • Maya Angelou is 'inspired' by Hillary Clinton

First Tony Morrison backs Barack Obama and now in Georgia, the Hillary Clinton campaign is set to go up with a radio ad featuring the amazing Maya Angelou, entitled "My Girl" along with one by Magic Johnson.

Here are some highlights from the AD:

"As a child, Hillary Clinton was taught that all God's children are equal, so as a mother she understood that her child wasn't safe unless all children were safe. I know what kind of president Hillary Clinton will be because I know who she is. Hillary Clinton has always been a strong woman and a passionate protector of families. For 35 years, that's exactly what she has been doing.

Each generation stands on the shoulders of those who came before. Today, the challenges facing us threaten the dreams we have had for our children. We need a president with the experience and strength to meet those challenges.

I am inspired by Hillary Clinton. A daughter, a wife, a mother -- my girl."

Very interesting how the media says these endorsements play such a huge part in who people are leaning towards to vote. Do they impact you at all as a voter?
