Dave Matthews Band saxophonist dies
LeRoi Moore, saxophonist and founding member of the Dave Matthews Band, died Tuesday from complications stemming from injuries he sustained in an ATV accident, the band's publicist said.
Moore, 47, died "unexpectedly" at a hospital, publicist Ambrosia Healy said in a statement.
Moore was taken to Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center in Los Angeles, California, and had been rehabilitating at his L.A. home after the June 30 accident at his farm outside Charlottesville, Virginia.
The Dave Matthews Band was formed in Charlottesville in 1991 by Matthews, drummer Carter Beauford and Moore, an established saxophonist in the local music scene. Their first album, "Remember Two Things," was released in 1993 and featured what would become the band's trademark mixture of jazz, rock and world-music stylings.
"Jazz is probably my main influence, but at this stage I don't really consider myself a jazz musician," Moore is quoted as saying on the band's Web site. "I have plenty of space to improvise, to try new ideas."
The band's follow-up record, "Under the Table and Dreaming," has been certified quadruple-platinum, selling over 4 million copies.
The group was scheduled to play Tuesday night at the Staples Center in Los Angeles and was planning to go on with the show, according to the statement. Jeff Coffin, saxophonist for Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, has been sitting in for Moore since Moore's accident. On the 20th May 2007 the local TV station ATV Canal9, showed a large group of UFOs that had appeared over Lima, Peru at about 12 o'clock, local time. Most of the pictures were taken during the outdoor filming of a music video when the cameraman happened to turn his camera to the sky. Later on some of the photos were darkened to facilitate better visibility. ATV maintains that these pictures were the first of its kind in Peru. One thing is certain, such a huge multitude of UFOs had never been seen anywhere in the world. These OVNI s (Spanish word for UFOs) were visible over Peru's capital city for 30 minutes. All UFOs visible over the Old Town of Lima were moving rather fast in various directions, going up and coming down with incredible speed, as UFOs are want to do. The people on the street are very excited and are shouting: Look, look, what is that? The inserted photos from Mexico were shown on Mexican TV Stations during the years 1994-95. They had been made available by the Peruvian air force FAP, represented in the interview for this TV clip of ATV, Lima, by Cmdte. Julio Chamorro. He declares that the air force has no plausible explanation for this abnormal phenomenon, not visible on radar screens, but that it certainly needed to be investigated as air flights in general could be endangered. He is cautious when it comes to the topic of "Extraterrestrials", which is an awkward one, and in this respect no comment is made. The final comment by ATV is a question often heard: Are we alone in the Universe?

Am 20. Mai 2007 wurde vom örtlichen Fernsehsender ATV Canal 9 über Lima, Peru, gegen 12 Uhr Ortszeit eine große Gruppe von UFOs aufgenommen. Die Bilder entstanden überwiegend bei Außenaufnahmen zu einem Musikvideo, als der Kameramann seine Videokamera nach oben schwenkte. Später wurden sie z. T. zur besseren Hervorhebung abgedunkelt. ATV behauptet, es seien die ersten Aufnahmen dieser Art in Peru. Es ist wohl weltweit noch nie eine solch gewaltige Menge von UFOs gesichtet worden. Die OVNIs (spanischer Ausdruck für UFOs) waren ca. 30 Min. über der Hauptstadt Perus zu sehen. Alle UFOs über der Altstadt von Lima bewegten sich schnell in verschiedene Richtungen, stiegen auf und kamen tiefer, mit einer unglaublichen Geschwindigkeit, wie sie nur für UFOs üblich ist. Die Menschen auf der Strasse sind sehr aufgeregt und rufen durcheinander: Sieh, schau, was ist das ...? Die eingeblendeten Aufnahmen aus Mexiko stammen von mexikanischen TV-Stationen aus den Jahren 1994 und 1995. Sie wurden von der Peruanischen Luftwaffe FAP, vertreten im Interview durch Cmdte. Julio Chamorro für diesen TV-Beitrag von ATV, Lima, zur Verfügung gestellt. Der Cmdte. bemerkt, daß die Luftwaffe keine geeignete Erklärung für dieses anomale und nicht kontrollierte Phänomen habe, daß es aber in jedem Fall aufgeklärt werden sollte, weil die Luftfahrt allgemein gefährdet sein könne. Man ist vorsichtig beim Thema 'Außerirdische' und will in dieser Hinsicht keine eindeutige Stellung beziehen. Schlußkommentar von ATV ist eine oft gehörte Frage: Sind wir allein im Universum?
