States refusing grants for abstinence education
Only 28 states are still accepting federal funding for "abstinence-only" sexual education. The program is down 40% in just two years.
The abstinence-focused approach has been supported by President George Bush from the beginning of time, as he believes that hiding the facts from kids somehow helps them.
However, scientific research is proving that abstinence-only sex ed simply doesn't work. More kids get pregnant when they don't have adequate information about their own bodies. In fact, the states with the highest rates of teen pregnancy, like Texas, generally support or use some form of abstinence-only education.
More and more people, and states, are realizing that we need to give our kids all the information about sex and their bodies in order to help them make healthy decisions and prevent unplanned pregnancies.
Comprehensive sexual education is becoming increasingly popular and it is being funded by states entirely.
This will be an important issue in the 2008 election, and it has already surfaced. Obama has said that he supports comprehensive sexual education that is age-appropriate beginning in early elementary school and John McCain supports abstinence-only policies.
Here in Texas, it is very unfortunate that we accept the most federal funding for abstinence-only sexual education. This is due in part because our State Board of Education is extremely conservative and asserts its religious views into public policy and because we have representatives like Ron Paul, who support abstinence-only and oppose comprehensive sexual education.
I think this is a good shift, even as a Texan (OMG, he's liberal? can cowboys do that? I wonder what his horse thinks about this....), because I think our kids deserve to know the fats about sex, but what do you think? Ron Paul lost the Republican Primary for President a LOOOOONG time ago, but the majority of his supporters seem to be completely unaware, even holding on to the possibility that he may still win.
They continue to spam youtube and current.com with fraudulent stories and and claim he didn't get fair treatment by the media, however when considering how unsuccessful his campaign was, he got excellent coverage by the media.
This video has been known to help clear up some of the rumors surrounding the campaign.

McCain Believes America is "Christian Nation"
U.S. Senator and presidential hopeful John McCain proves to be out of step with the Constitution and the American people when it comes to religious liberties and mainstream values. He claims to believe that religious tests, which are prohibited by the Constitution, should be applied to candidates. He also seems to be ignorant of the history of the U.S. government which has been celebrated for its secualr history and respect for all religious beliefs and the lack thereof when he claims that America was based primarily on Judeo-Christian values. Could McCain be any worse for America? We need a candidate willing to stand for people of all religious beliefs and people with no religious affiliations. We need a candidate who stands up for secularism in government, religious liberties, and the total Separation of Church and State. McCain has proven through this video and his connections to pastor John Hagee and Rod Parsley that he is a proud member of the Religious Right and is out to distort religion for political gain. The Constitution does not once mention God and the Declaration only refers to an ambiguous "Creator". Has Ron Paul even read the Constitution?

Ron Paul is a dangerous enemy of the Constitution. He has it wrong on the Separation of Church and State, and a woman's right to choose. He would reverse Roe v. Wade if allowed. He also supports school-vouchers, which allows private religious schools to enjoy the support of the government and takes money away from public schools. Sounds like a church-state to me. I don't want my taxes being used to pay from someone else's religious education. If church schools wish to exist, that is fine with me, but let them support themselves and stop living off of unconstitutional government hand outs.
If he claims to want to get government out of our personal lives and off of our backs, and claims to support the Constitution, then why does he not support a woman's right to choose? It is guaranteed by the 14th Amendment. Ron Paul simply wishes to take our rights away and increase government control over some of the most personal parts of our lives.
He also opposes gay rights and would allow states to discriminate against homosexuals. Either we should all have rights or none of us should have rights at all.
