Hamilton wins the British Grand Prix
Despite the media constantly being on his back about his performance, Hamilton has silenced his critics and won at the British Grand Prix.
It makes him the first Englishman to win the race since Johnny Herbert in 1995 despite starting from his fourth place on the grid. Hamilton overcomes blunder to win in Monaco
Lewis Hamilton overcame an early collision with the barriers to win a dramatic, rain-hit Monaco Grand Prix on Sunday and move three points clear in the overall championship standings.
Hamilton's blunder left him with a punctured rear tire but the incident was to work in his favor in a race run in changing conditions.
McLaren refueled Hamilton's car as his tire was changed and this made it possible for him to delay his final pit stop and establish a decisive lead.
"This is the highlight of my career, and it will be the highlight for the rest of my life," Hamilton told the British Press Asscoiation.
"I was able to get a good start. I felt comfortable and I knew I had a good car to challenge Felipe (Massa), but then as the rain came down there was so much spray.
"Through Tabac I hit a river of water and slid into the barrier, but fortunately I was able to tell the team and they reacted very quickly. "They did a great job and without them I wouldn't have won this."
Robert Kubica, in a BMW Sauber, edged pole sitter Felipe Massa of Ferrari out of second place but there was heartbreak for Force India's Adrian Sutil who lost fourth place after a superb drive when world champion Kimi Raikkonen crashed into his rear end in the closing stages.
The Finn, who had closed on Sutil after a safety car had to be deployed, slid into the back of the German's car after breaking at the chicane.
Sutil had to retire but Raikkonen was able to resume after having a new nose cone fitted and finished ninth after a below-par performance. Lewis Hamilton overcame an early collision with the barriers to win a dramatic, rain-hit Monaco Grand Prix on Sunday and move three po... more -

Hamilton's arch rival in surprising u-turn
The Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso bickering brought F1 back into the limelight last year, with much controversy over Alonso's treatment towards his new teammate.
Quickly establishing himself as a key British sports personality, Hamilton shot to fame when he surpassed all expectations and nearly clinched the championship in his rookie season.
During the 2007 season Alonso made public his thoughts on Hamilton's 'preferential' treatment by their McClaren team bosses, insisting he had been pushed aside for Hamilton's debut race season. But, in a dramatic u-turn, Fernando Alonso, back driving for Renault, has today said that although 2007 winner Kimi Räikkönen will be the man to beat, Hamilton definitely has a good chance of clinching it.
Is this Alonso finally playing fair, or the start of another season of mind tricks from what quickly became known as one of the hottest battles in F1's history?

UK F1 star saddened by 'racist taunts' in Spain
Lewis Hamilton has spoken out about the alleged racial taunting he received whilst at a racing track in Spain.
Following on from one of, if not the, greatest starts a young Briton has had as a Formula One racing driver, Lewis' popularity is no doubt rooted in his humble story, he came from a 'working class ' family and his father, who is also now his manager, openly speaks about the sacrifices he had to make to get Lewis to where he is today.
But Lewis' entrance into the world of F1 was marred in controversy after rumours quickly emerged of trouble in the McClaren camp between himself and Spanish teammate, Fernando Alonso, after Alonso accused Hamilton was getting preferential treatment.
The racial abuse in Spain is allegedly in connection with the well publicised 'relationship' between Hamilton and Alonso, with the Spanish favouring their own driver. The chanting for Hamilton forced officials at the circuit to draft in extra security guards to the stands as well as erecting fences around the team area.
