No Sales At Sundance
This morning the WSJ reported on the dismal outlook the independent film scene is facing. With many independent distributors out of business few sales took place at Sundance this year. John Sloss, the man who "virtually owns Sundance" (his own words) could not even sell his full slate of films.
Read my article to see where the independent film scene is going and why the death of Sundance is not such a bad thing. Thanks! This morning the WSJ reported on the dismal outlook the independent film scene is facing. With many independent distributors out of b... more -

The Stork: It’s a Bird of War!!
"The Stork" is an animated short-film created by Nina Paley. "The Stork" starts out as a pleasant little children's cartoon, but before long it turns into something very sardonic and sinister, closer to "Apocalypse Now."
It's a decidedly provocative, but at the same time very funny, look at the perils of population explosion. When Paley first began work on this film, she predicted that it would provoke a lot of anger, “be extremely unpopular, and possibly end my animation career.”
Nevertheless, "The Stork" ended up playing at The Sundance Film Festival and numerous other festivals, winning awards all along the way.
Photographs and the spine-chilling animated video are included. "The Stork" is an animated short-film created by Nina Paley. "The Stork" starts out as a pleasant little children... more -

Where in the World is Osama Bin Laden?
Morgan Spurlock (muckraking documentarian?) has a new film out, in which he attempts to track down Osama Bin Laden. From the article:
"Yes, the man who may or may not have pressured McDonald's to abandon the "Super Size" option (a moment of silence please for French fries portions the size of my head) has decided to set his sights on none other than the most wanted man in the universe; Osama bin Laden.
"Did he find him? How does it all end? Well if there was any doubt that this one was garnering huge interest, the insanely long line for the press screening I attended laid any hesitation to rest. The curiosity was there. Would Spurlock deliver?" Morgan Spurlock (muckraking documentarian?) has a new film out, in which he attempts to track down Osama Bin Laden. From the article:... more
