Charleston Movie Theater Hosts Free Movie for Young Cancer Patients
"Young cancer patients took in a free screening of 'Dr. Seuss' Horton Hears A Who' at Park Place Stadium Cinemas. The cinema hosted the event, opening the theater only to the patients and their families. An invitation only party is a way to let the youngsters enjoy a movie without being exposed to something that could trigger a serious problem. These parents say enjoying a 'normal' day when they are usually few and far between is nice change of pace from treatments and hospital visits. Turtle Island Project: Respect for Environment, Native Americans and all Indigenou...
The Turtle Island Project in northern Michigan was founded in August 2007 by two Midwest pastors who believe the future of mankind and world is at a crossroads.
Rev. Dr. Lynn Hubbard and Rev. Dr. George Cairns believe that Christians could learn a lot about nature and the environment by listening to Earth-based cultures like Native Americans, Celts, and other Indigenous peoples.
Rev. Hubbard is a Lutheran pastor, and Rev. Cairns is an ordained United Church of Christ minister.
Both have extensive backgrounds in interfaith and multicultural work.
The Turtle Island Project (TIP), based in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, promotes respect for the environment and Native Americans.
Two Midwest pastors created the TIP to foster a national discussion and debate on a wide variety of issues involving the future of the planet and mankind including encouraging Christians to learn how to appreciate nature like Earth-based religions such as American Indians, Celts and other Indigenous peoples.

Stoked Mentoring Awards Benefit honoring Marc Ecko and Danny Way
On November 7, 2007 at Room Service in NYC starting at 7pm Stoked Mentoring will be hosting our first annual Stoked Awards Benefit.
The Stoked Achievement Award will be presented to Marc Ecko, founder of Marc Ecko Enterprises. The Stoked Athlete Award will go to professional skateboarder, Danny Way. Media coverage of the event will include E! Channels The Daily 10 hosted by Sal Masekela. Fully funded by corporate support and private donations, the Stoked Awards Benefit will help us to raise needed funds to support our 2008 Mentoring programs and increase the number of teens and schools we can impact with our efforts.
