    • Mega-Microcelebrity

Microcelebrity is the phenomenon of being extremely well known not to millions but to a small group -- a thousand people, or maybe only a few dozen. This phenomenon is seen most prevalently in the online world of social networks, blogs, and vlogs. Aaron Krane was the marketing manager for Technorati and the former host of the web TV show Buzz! He's often recognized at tech events, knows how to pose for pictures, and obsessively counts how many photos have been tagged of him on Facebook - all factors that contribute to his microcelebrity status. We'll follow Aaron as he shows us how, in this era of global and internet communities, who's a celebrity and why, may not really matter - as long as you get your 15 minutes somehow. • Internet television makes it to broadcast television

""Sex and the City" creator Darren Star has teamed with CBS to develop a comedy based on the Web series "We Need Girlfriends."

The network has handed out a script commitment to the project, which would be written by Steven Tsapelas, Angel Acevedo and Brian Amyot, the masterminds behind the original series that has drawn as many as 700,000 views per episode on YouTube during its 11-episode run."

Rest of the article here: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/content_display/new...

The announcement was made on Thursday night, November 1st at a launch event for a Hofstra University (Steve, Angel and Brian's Alma Mater) School of Communication website. The film majors went into internet production to increase their audience and their work which had previously been independent DV films. The team worked hard to develop characters and create a story arc, something they felt the internet was in deep need of. Their hard work paid off as the team got noticed by Darren Star's people and the deal was made.

When asked why go to television after working on the internet, the boys replied "To bring character based shows from our generation to broadcast, but we are not giving up on the internet, we have three or four more ideas for another web series".

    • Where is the Star Wars Kid These Days?

As one of the initial purveyors of 'viral fame', where is Ghyslain "Star Wars Kid" Raza? The last the media reported, he settled out of court on a lawsuit seeking $351,000 in damages for the leak of his Darth Maul double-edged light saber stunt. He settled out of court in April 2006 for an undisclosed amount. Did this video leak and subsequent international fame defeat this young Canadian? Is he the first real human tragedy in the instant fame garnered by pure 'reality internet TV' or are we oversimplifying a high school prank. There is only one vague interview with Gyslain that sheds little light on a kid quashed by instant, unwanted fame. Where are you 'Star Wars Kid'? - http://www.famouspictures.org/mag/index.php?title=Star_... As one of the initial purveyors of 'viral fame', where is Ghyslain "Star Wars Kid" Raza?
