Uncommon Heroes of the California Wildfires
We've all heard about the firefighters who have come from all over to help fight the California wildfires that have been raging for over a month, but there are a large group of firefighters that we haven't heard much about, and they are the main ones fighting the fires.
Prison inmates have been taught firefighting skills and are working in great numbers to contain all of these fires that are breaking out. These low-security inmates are getting obvious confidence and joy from being given a chance to contribute positively to the community. "Five to 10 structures had been destroyed by noon Thursday as the Summit Fire crept south along Eureka Canyon, burning up to 2,000 acres, Cal Fire reported.
Flames had begun traveling to the southwest toward Corralitos, working their way down Eureka Canyon Road, Cal Fire stated in a noon update.

Malibu Wildfires Partly Under Control
Wildfires that started in Southern California this morning are partly under control as we head into the evening here. Fueled by the Santa Ana winds, the fire has consumed at least 35 homes in the affluent city of Malibu. More than 15,000 people were evacuated from hundreds of residences. Many escaped just minutes ahead of the flames.
After fighting a losing battle for most of the day, the 1,700 firefighters have contained a small portion. They describe it "like a blowtorch with a huge hairdryer behind it". Around 3 am this morning a fire started due to the Santa Ana winds.
As of right now about 2,220 acres have burned and 35+ houses have burnt down.
Also, no deaths have occurred.

I live at the West Coast of Southern California, The air here is usually cool and clear. Not now. It is grey and ugly. Heat. Oppressive and unyeilding.Toxic air.
So many thousands have been displaced and lost homes. We have NEVER seen a disaster on this scale even though we burn every year.....every year.
