A neighborhood cafe in Boston's North End is forced to shut its doors after not being able to afford the high rent. Is this because Starbucks is taking away from the local coffee shops' business? A neighborhood cafe in Boston's North End is forced to shut its doors after not being able to afford the high rent. • Going out to a restaurant for Thanksgiving?

Instead of slaving over a hot stove for hours, how does having a gourmet turkey prepared by a complete stranger sound for your Thanksgiving dinner? It's not as strange as you may think: "You can guarantee anyone who's open on Thanksgiving sells out," says chef Eric Brennan of Excelsior in Boston. Did you make your own Thanksgiving meal? Instead of slaving over a hot stove for hours, how does having a gourmet turkey prepared by a complete stranger sound for your Thanksg... more

    • Do you know where your turkey came from?

When you have supermarket-bought Thanksgiving dinner, it can be from anywhere. But, more and more people have food concerns and they want to eat healthier. So, they buy locally grown produce, and they support local farmers. SO, where did your Thanksgiving turkey come from? When you have supermarket-bought Thanksgiving dinner, it can be from anywhere. • Just a furniture store?

At Jordan's furniture, you can learn to be a trapeze artist, watch liquid fireworks, go see an IMAX movie, sample jelly bean flavors, eat dinner at a local burger place- Fudruckers, sample your favorite ice cream at the "Big Dig," which serves Richardson's ice cream, and if you really want to, shop for furniture. It's quite the experience...

Plus, Jordan's made a promise to Red Sox fans:
"Consumers purchasing a mattress, dining table, sofa, or bed at a Jordan's store location between March 7,2007 and April 16, 2007 will receive a rebate of the purchase price paid for the Deal Merchandise if (but only if) the Boston Red Sox® win the 2007 Major League Baseball World Championship®." Looks like they have some rebates to go through..

    • Where Celebs Eat

Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen like Boston Public-- they supposedly we're caught making out there back in August.

Scarlett Johansson's favorite place to eat in Boston is Om-- she ate there when she received the Hasty Pudding award.

    • Staying Hot in the Hub

It's getting chilly out, so what better way to warm up than to sip on some hot cocoa? Here is a list of the 10 best places to go for hot chocolate in Boston. My favorite on the list? L.A. Burdick Chocolate Shop & Café in Harvard Square, where "customers can choose from dark, milk, or ivory chocolate. The trick is the real ground chocolate mixed in with the cocoa powder and milk." • Whoever said that kids don't eat well anymore?

These fifth-graders were part of a program started by Spoons Across America: the Dinner Party Project, which was designed to teach kids about cooking, nutrition, meal planning, food safety, and etiquette.

"It sounds like a recipe for chaos: 20 fifth-graders in a school cafeteria kitchen on a muggy Saturday afternoon, preparing an ambitious seasonal menu for a guest list of 120. But at the Bridge School here late last month, everything was running like clockwork. The children were lined up, wearing aprons, ready to cook dinner for a crowd of parents, grandparents, siblings, and school and community leaders."

    • Beer and Pretzels- a great combination

Beer & Pretzel Chocolate Stout Cake with toasted almonds- only at Great Bay in Hotel Commonwealth

"The seafood island is an extra attraction, with its stools and easy access to the chefs preparing your food, it's a fun spot. The island menu offers a selection of delectable looking appetizers and entrées that absolutely suit today's diners with their grazing rather than dining approach to good food. You can ask for almost anything in sample sizes (which is not that common elsewhere). This really ups the ante on the "small plate" fad that is sweeping Boston at the moment."

    • UBurger = Uber Burger = Delicious

So it's no In-N-Out, and it's definitely not healthy, but eating at UBurger is one of my weaknesses. The "special sauce" really is something special, and the fries aren't too greasy. It's definitely a once-in-awhile place, or I would have a serious health issue, but it's too hard to resist! So, it's not really a restaurant..but it's still food and it's almost better than a restaurant!

"Here's an inside look into Breyer's plant in Framingham, MA, which produces about a million gallons of the frozen treat every week."

    • JFK's Favorite Restaurant

"John F. Kennedy would frequently meet with politicos in the private room seen here. Over bowls of the restaurant’s lobster stew, he sought approval from potential backers. Kennedy was merely following tradition. His grandfather, Mayor John Fitzgerald, also often held meet-and-eat sessions at Locke-Ober." "John F. • Boston Restaurants are Everywhere! (Even in Florida..)

      Boston's on the Beach

"The seaside eatery, known for its New England-style menu and walls covered in Rex Sox memorabilia, was packed with Red Sox fans Wednesday night all eager to watch and cheer for their team facing the Colorado Rockies. By the time the second inning was under way, the place was packed — a sea of red, navy and white Rex Sox shirts and hats. Some flew in from Boston, while others drove from as far as Broward County and Port St. Lucie to watch the game."

    • Fire + Ice

People either love it or hate it, but I love it! Fire + Ice is delicious, and you can never get bored of the menu. Mix and match chicken, steak, vegetables, pasta, tofu...and all the sauces!! My personal favorite is the long, windy udon noodles with chicken, vegetables, and the Fahita sauce. The sauce is definitely what makes it all come together... And I love how they cook your food in front of you. They do such fun tricks! Now I'm hungry... People either love it or hate it, but I love it! • Giacomo's Restaurant: Italian!

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Boston. Settled in on Hanover Street in the North End, Giacomo's is a little cozy restaurant that does not accept reservations, but the food is worth it! Quite possibly the best Caesar salad I've ever had, not to mention the Chicken Parmigiana...

There is no website, but Citysearch has a link to the menu.

Enjoy, and post your favorite Italian restaurants below!
