Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog
A tale of alter-ego, blogging and geek love.
Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog is a 43-minute tragicomic musical produced exclusively for internet distribution. It tells the story of aspiring super-villain Dr. Horrible (Neil Patrick Harris) who wants to join the Evil League of Evil and win the girl of his dreams.
Dr. Horrible clashes with Captain Hammer, his nemesis (Nathan Fillion) over Penny (the oh-so lovely Felicia Day), their mutual love interest. The movie was written by writer/director Joss Whedon, his brothers Zack Whedon (a television writer), Jed Whedon (a composer), and Jed's fiancée, actress Maurissa Tancharoen. The writing team penned the musical during the WGA writers' strike. The idea was to create something small and inexpensive, yet professionally done, in a way that would circumvent the issues that were being protested during the strike. New fall TV shows: JJ Abrams’ Fringe and Joss Whedon’s Dollhouse
I don't really like the Dollhouse yet from the screens and video clip but JJ Abrams's Fringe looks interesting. We'll have to wait for actual trailers and the pilot to see whether these shows will be worth watching but the Fringe will most likely turn out like Alias and LOST, i.e. they'll be very successful (at least the first 2-3 seasons).
Joss Whedon did Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, and Firefly; however, Firefly was the only one I actually enjoyed watching so I'm not really sure how well the Dollhouse is going to do I don't really like the Dollhouse yet from the screens and video clip but JJ Abrams's Fringe looks interesting. Go ahead and watch a full season of Firefly...what else is there to do?
Oh yeah...work.
But seriously, file this away for later on...when you have time to sit down and take in the entire run of Season 1.
As a friend put it, "shiny!" Oh yeah...work. ... more -
20 pop-culture obsessions geekier than Monty Python
In case debating the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow wasn't geeky enough, here are some even geekier pop-culture obsessions.

Buffy, Angel, Firefly and now.... Dollhouse: Joss Whedon is back!
If you don't know who Joss Whedon is (or for that matter, Eliza Dushku), you need to make reservations for somewhere other than that cave on Mars. Here's an interview with the man himself.
The genius (yeah, I said "genius") behind "Buffy the Vampire Slayer", "Angel", and Fox's red-headed stepchild from 2002-2004, "Firefly", is gonna have another series called, "Dollhouse". The premise seems kinda hokey, but if you've seen any of his work, you'll know that he can take just about any premise and make you care about it and the characters involved. Writers like Kevin Williamson ("Scream", "I Know What You Did Last Summer", et al) have him to thank for almost single-handedly inventing the slasher-cum-witty-teenage-banter genre. Classic lines such as, "What is your childhood trauma?!?" have become part of my lexicon.
Do yourself a favor and check it out before Fox slaps it around, shaves its red hair off, and banishes it to the cellar with no dinner. If you don't know who Joss Whedon is (or for that matter, Eliza Dushku), you need to make reservations for somewhere other than t... more -
Joss Whedon and Eliza Dushku Reunite for TV
Joss Whedon and Eliza Dushku are reuniting for a new TV show.
The official description: Echo (Eliza Dushku) [is] a young woman who is literally everybody's fantasy. She is one of a group of men and women who can be imprinted with personality packages, including memories, skills, languageeven muscle memoryfor different assignments. The assignments can be romantic, adventurous, outlandish, uplifting, sexual and/or very illegal. When not imprinted with a personality package, Echo and the others are basically mind-wiped, living like children in a futuristic dorm/lab dubbed the Dollhouse, with no memory of their assignmentsor of much else. The show revolves around the childlike Echo's burgeoning self-awareness, and her desire to know who she was before, a desire that begins to seep into her various imprinted personalities and puts her in danger both in the field and in the closely monitored confines of the Dollhouse.
