A’s win: Oakland’s ten game streak halted against Detroit
Well it had to happen sooner or later, the preferred would’ve been sooner, but anyone wearing green and gold will have to be happy that it wasn’t any later than Friday night. It was a night of positives for a team in much need of anything that would change the negativity the team has struggled through since the beginning of the second half. Dallas Braden had his longest stint of the season, Brad Ziegler tied the Oakland Athletics longest scoreless streak, and Emil Brown along with Rajai Davis powered the A’s to a win over another struggling franchise, the Detroit Tigers... Legendary baseball executive John McHale Sr. Passes away
McHale helped build the mighty Expos franchise at the start of their expansion as their first president built them up to be good enough to make the playoffs by 1981, the one glory season the Expos franchise has ever had before Jeff Loria screwed that team into the ground in the '90s.
McHale had a not so successful Major League playing career in the 1940's, being part of the great Tigers team that beat the Cubs in an exciting 1945 World Series giving returning soldiers from the war something to enjoy.
And he oversaw the Milwaukee Braves move to Atlanta.

Uh oh, Yankee and Red Sox nation(singular b/c bandwagon jumpers are one and all the same), looks like the Wal-Mart and Microsoft of baseball didn't win those sweepstakes...
