Why I Will Never Fly United Again
Flights cancelled both ways during our holiday trip caused us hours of time on the phone with barely intelligible reservation agents. They're blaming the cancellations on "weather," but it sounds like it may really be due to poor management. We received automated voicemails "apologizing for the inconvenience" of the cancellations, with no number to call or advice on what to do next. No other business could get away with this type of service. Boycott United! Akrowa Dance Ensemble, Drumming in Kokrobite Ghana
This is a video of a rehearsal of the Akrowa Dance Ensemble based in Kokrobite, outside of Accra Ghana. The group has about 10 drummers and several dancers, three of whom were practicing their moves along with the group. Cultural dancing often involves playing out a story.
Toward the end of the video, there is an informal interview with Okoe Ardyfio, the founder of Akrowa Dance Ensemble. He has studied, traveled with, and currently works with Mustapha Tettey Addy, the renowned Ghanaian drummer and founder of the Academy of African Music and Arts (AAMA). In addition to leading Akrowa and traveling around the world performing, Okoe also teaches drumming and cultural dancing.
Drumming lessons with Okoe are included in this tour (Day 3):

On The Road in Ghana - From Accra to Cape Coast to Kumasi
Ghana has several major cities, the two biggest being Accra and Kumasi respectively. When traveling on the road, you go from deadlocked traffic, dozens of stores, and three times as many people, to open roads, amazing scenery, and a village now and then. These are some photos taken from the road en route from Accra, to Cape Coast, to Kakum, to Kumasi, and back.
The music is a Ga group called Wolomei, and the song is called Boboli Bobo. Read more about the Ga, known to the Greater Accra region here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ga_people

Ghanaian Cuisine Workshop in Cape Coast Ghana, West Africa
Cooking with Esi in Cape Coast, Ghana, at her restaurant "Be Nice & Rich." Esi will teach you how to make fried plantains, red red, palava sauce, boiled yam, groundnut soup / stew and of course, fufu. Noticing there were a lot of people around, she decided to make an impromptu Fante style chicken soup too.
About the ingredients, from left to right in the first still: yam, three ripe plantains, cassava, one unripe plantain, yellow African eggplant, purple onions, curry powder, Adobo seasoning, African spinach, palm oil, and a can of tomato paste. Somewhere around there are a bunch of Maggie cubes, which are essentially shrimp flavored bullion cubes. There was also fresh garlic, ginger, a couple of tomatoes, peanut butter, and cooked black eyed peas.
This workshop is part of this tour (Day 5):
