    • SoCal Edison wants to cover California rooftops with solar panels

Here is a link specifying Southern California Edison as a leader and trend setter. @ 250 mega watts is also a viable solution to other solar power technologies such as Towers of Power and solar fields popping up all over the deserts. The only draw back I see is the ecology of the proposed area, and local wildlife inhabitants. This would require more research, but this idea here, roof top solar panels was a brief solution in the 70's here in Edison country, but on a grand scale, I foresee the only issue is that UFO (aliens pilots) will have to wear sunglasses due to a glare being produced by a solarized planet. ( PS. that last part was a joke )

A Greenerfuture should be on everyone's mind.

    • Official: 16GB iPhone available and 32GB iPod touch, $499

Out of the rumor mill comes the 16GB iPhone, now official. Ever since the 16GB iPod touch was announced in September, we all knew it was just a matter of time until Apple could bung the same NAND capacity into their chubbier iPhone. The surprise is a new 32GB iPod touch for the same $499. No other changes and certainly not 3G. Both are available immediately. Out of the rumor mill comes the 16GB iPhone, now official. • Asus monitors: your best defense against crossbow attacks?

This one's YouTube caption says it best: "Shooting at the monitor from the arbalest! Striking!" If you replace 'arbalest' with 'fancy European crossbow' you've got a recipe for entertainment. Some Ukrainian crazies got ahold of an Asus LS201 monitor with protective glass and really went all out. The hammer and nails scenes are less than convincing, but the crossbow moment has to be seen to be believed. Think of it as Ukraine's present to you. Video is after the break. This one's YouTube caption says it best: "Shooting at the monitor from the arbalest! Striking!" If you replace 'ar... more

    • DIY Polonium detector makes barhopping safer

Considering that Polonium has been the poison of choice in a number of high-profile cases, tinkerers who tend to spend some serious time enjoying themselves at the local pub may want to invest some time building one of these. The homegrown Polonium Pen doesn't require a whole lot of hardware -- just two darlington transistors, a LED, homemade ion chamber, one or two resistors, a battery and a power switch -- and it allows the owner to hold it over their drink and watch for it to light up. Should the LED turn on, simply pass on the beverage, exit as soon as humanly possible and figure out why in the world someone in the mob wants you to vanish. Hit the read link for the full-blown how-to guide. Considering that Polonium has been the poison of choice in a number of high-profile cases, tinkerers who tend to spend some serious ti... more

    • WiFi and autism: a quick debunking

Late Wednesday, as most people in the US were focusing on the next day's holiday festivities, Engadget picked up on a potentially unnerving press release entitled "Link Between Wireless Technology and Autism Unveiled in New Scientific Report." Given the increasing prevalence of WiFi use, a clear link between this technology and autism should give many of us pause. But a closer examination of the press release should raise enough red flags that the announcement should be viewed with extreme skepticism. Late Wednesday, as most people in the US were focusing on the next day's holiday festivities, Engadget picked up on a potentially... more

    • Nokia N95 8 GB gets reviewed, declared best smartphone ever

The verdict is in: Nokia's N95 8GB has been declared the best smartphone ever by the good people over at All About Symbian -- though, they're pretty into Symbian, so of course feel free to disagree. What has changed you ask? MicroSD slot is gone, replaced by 8GB dedicated storage, system RAM bumped to 128 MB, better battery life -- this was a major issue in the past -- larger and brighter screen, and a pile of other things. So if you have the original N95, give it away now and get yourself upgraded.

      Thanks Engadget.
