    • We the People... Lesbiatopia's Editors Explore the Wisconsin Gay Marrage Law

Over on another part of Current TV, debate is hot over a State of Wisconsin law that says if a same-sex couples from Wisconsin goes to California to get married, it is a criminal offense that threatens them with a $10,000 fine or up to 9 months in jail (or both) if they do marry in California.

This law was passed decades ago, says it is illegal to enter into a marriage outside the state if that marriage is not legal in Wisconsin and was enacted to prevent underage couples from crossing state lines to marry.

In 2006 Wisconsin voters passed a constitutional same-sex marriage ban; gay marriage is not legal in Wisconsin.

But up till last month this law was not really a problem Lesbians and Gays in that state because the only state that had gay marriage was Massachusetts. Their law essentially has a caveat in it that says same-sex marriages preformed in Massachusetts are only legal outside the state of Massachusetts if that state also recognizes same-sex marriage. In other words, if I got married in Massachusetts, my marriage would only be recognized in California.

We Feel this a very serious Constitutional Issue... and one with not only ramification's for the LGBT community but everyone in America....

Please read our full article and see if you agree....

    • Seven Things Barack Obama Should Do to Keep from Blowing It

Arianna Huffington has some great words of wisdom for Barack Obama and as a person who wants a Democratic President, I would advise him to read them and try to keep the Democrats like me who want a winner.

      by: Arianna Huffington

      1) Load up your Kindle with passages from leaders who were looking to fundamentally change the country and following an inner compass, not the latest focus-group results. Bobby Kennedy and Martin Luther King would be a good place to start.
"Some men see things as they are and ask, 'Why?' I dream of things that never were and ask, 'Why not?'" (RFK)
"There comes a time when one must take the position that is neither safe nor politic nor popular, but he must do it because conscience tells him it is right." (King)

      2) Load up your iPod with passages from your own speeches. They've inspired others; now let them re-ignite the inspirational leader in you.
"This campaign can't only be about me. It must be about us - it must be about what we can do together. This campaign must be the occasion, the vehicle, of your hopes, and your dreams. It will take your time, your energy, and your advice - to push us forward when we're doing right, and to let us know when we're not. This campaign has to be about reclaiming the meaning of citizenship, restoring our sense of common purpose, and realizing that few obstacles can withstand the power of millions of voices calling for change.... That's why I'm in this race. Not just to hold an office, but to gather with you to transform a nation."

      3) Get your campaign to give you a printout of the names of the over 1.5 million people who have donated to your campaign (at an average of $197 each). Give that list a read every day; feel the heft. And remember -- sorry, Stu Rothenberg -- that the tried-and-untrue swing voter strategy is what has led to the Democratic Party's prolonged identity crisis. Forget the fence sitters. Instead, continue to speak to those who have turned their backs on the electoral process -- those who are struggling without health care, without decent schools, without jobs, without hope.

      4) Tape to your mirror the poll results from July 2004, where Kerry was up by six, and June of 1988, where Dukakis was up by 15... and don't get complacent.

      5) Go to YouTube and watch the concession speeches of Kerry, Gore, and Hillary Clinton, each of whom decided to run to the middle in an attempt to attract undecided swing voters.

      6) Don't let the daily petty squabbles of the campaign distract you from the core message that this campaign is not a referendum on John McCain's war record or the level of your patriotism -- but rather on the future of America. Are we a nation driven by hope and promise or a nation driven by fear?
When Bobby Kennedy was agonizing over whether or not to run in 1968, he told one of his advisors: "People are selfish. But they can also be compassionate and generous, and they care about the country. But not when they feel threatened. That's why this is such a crucial time. We can go in either direction. But if we don't make a choice soon, it will be too late to turn things around. I think people are willing to make the right choice. But they need leadership. They're hungry for leadership." Forty years later, we are starving for it. Real leadership, not a poll-driven facsimile. Not swing-state, swing-voter leadership. Leadership defined by an ability to capture our imagination and a willingness to challenge us. Leadership geared to transforming the country through the audacity of hope instead of keeping it mired in the politics of fear and division.

      7) Heed the old Texas advice of Dandy Don Meredith and Molly Ivins: "You got to dance with them what brung you."
Voters longing for hope, inspiration, a new kind of politics, and fundamental change are "them that brung you" to the big dance. Don't let the pundits, the advisors, and the cowards convince you to let someone else cut in.

    • Something Big is Going On

by: Ron Paul - Campaign For Liberty

The following statement is written by Congressman Paul about the pending financial disaster. He will introduce this statement as a special order and insert it into the Congressional Record next week. Fortunately, we have the opportunity to debut it first on the Campaign for Liberty blog. It reads as follows:

I have, for the past 35 years, expressed my grave concern for the future of America. The course we have taken over the past century has threatened our liberties, security and prosperity. In spite of these long-held concerns, I have days—growing more frequent all the time—when I’m convinced the time is now upon us that some Big Events are about to occur. These fast-approaching events will not go unnoticed. They will affect all of us. They will not be limited to just some areas of our country. The world economy and political system will share in the chaos about to be unleashed.

Though the world has long suffered from the senselessness of wars that should have been avoided, my greatest fear is that the course on which we find ourselves will bring even greater conflict and economic suffering to the innocent people of the world—unless we quickly change our ways.

America, with her traditions of free markets and property rights, led the way toward great wealth and progress throughout the world as well as at home. Since we have lost our confidence in the principles of liberty, self reliance, hard work and frugality, and instead took on empire building, financed through inflation and debt, all this has changed. This is indeed frightening and an historic event.

The problem we face is not new in history. Authoritarianism has been around a long time. For centuries, inflation and debt have been used by tyrants to hold power, promote aggression, and provide “bread and circuses” for the people. The notion that a country can afford “guns and butter” with no significant penalty existed even before the 1960s when it became a popular slogan. It was then, though, we were told the Vietnam War and a massive expansion of the welfare state were not problems. The seventies proved that assumption wrong.

Today things are different from even ancient times or the 1970s. There is something to the argument that we are now a global economy. The world has more people and is more integrated due to modern technology, communications, and travel. If modern technology had been used to promote the ideas of liberty, free markets, sound money and trade, it would have ushered in a new golden age—a globalism we could accept.

Instead, the wealth and freedom we now enjoy are shrinking and rest upon a fragile philosophic infrastructure. It is not unlike the levies and bridges in our own country that our system of war and welfare has caused us to ignore.

I’m fearful that my concerns have been legitimate and may even be worse than I first thought. They are now at our doorstep. Time is short for making a course correction before this grand experiment in liberty goes into deep hibernation.

There are reasons to believe this coming crisis is different and bigger than the world has ever experienced. Instead of using globalism in a positive fashion, it’s been used to globalize all of the mistakes of the politicians, bureaucrats and central bankers.

Being an unchallenged sole superpower was never accepted by us with a sense of humility and respect. Our arrogance and aggressiveness have been used to promote a world empire backed by the most powerful army of history. This type of globalist intervention creates problems for all citizens of the world and fails to contribute to the well-being of the world’s populations. Just think how our personal liberties have been trashed here at home in the last decade.

    • Jerry Brown to challenge court's ruling on medical marijuana

The Court of Appeal decided that lawmakers overstepped their bounds by amending the Compassionate Use Act. Brown, the attorney general, disagrees with that ruling.

"State Atty. Gen. Jerry Brown is preparing to challenge a recent appellate court decision that struck down California's guidelines on medical marijuana possession and cultivation, leaving patients and police wondering how much weed is too much.

Brown said in an interview this week that he would ask the Supreme Court to overturn last month's decision by the state Court of Appeal in Los Angeles, because it inhibits the state's attempts to control abuses while protecting legitimate access to cannabis.

The court ruled that the Legislature in 2003 made an unconstitutional amendment to the 1996 voter-approved Compassionate Use Act by specifying the amount of marijuana that patients could possess for medicinal purposes.

The decision, hailed by some medical marijuana advocates, did not only cast doubt on the legality of the standard of eight ounces of dried pot and six mature or 12 immature plants, which is contained in the legislation. It also threw a cloud of uncertainty over more liberal guidelines adopted by some counties, particularly those in the marijuana belt of the North Coast.

Brown, who supports medicinal use of marijuana, said the legislation was a reasonable approach to implementing a vaguely written ballot measure. "The proposition is not as clear we would like," he said. "You do not need an unlimited quantity of marijuana for medicine. But what is the quantity?"

The medical marijuana law was designed to provide access to patients with cancer, AIDS and other ailments. But implementation has created a hodgepodge of local marijuana controls."

    • USAspending.gov: where Americans can see where their money goes!

Have you ever wanted to find more information on government spending? Have you ever wondered where federal contracting dollars and grant awards go? Or perhaps you would just like to know, as a citizen, what the government is really doing with your money. The Federal Funding Accountability and Transparency Act of 2006 (Transparency Act) requires a single searchable website, accessible by the public for free that includes for each Federal award:

      1. The name of the entity receiving the award;
      2. The amount of the award;
      3. Information on the award including transaction type, funding agency, etc;
      4. The location of the entity receiving the award;
      5. A unique identifier of the entity receiving the award.

Welcome to www.USAspending.gov, a relaunch of www.FederalSpending.gov, that provides citizens with easy access to government contract, grant and other award data.

      -----

What a powerful tool! A great step towards government transparency! The following is excerpted from FedSpending.org:

The Federal government has launched USASpending.gov, a website mandated by the Federal Funding, Accountability, and Transparency Act. The website is based on the software that runs FedSpending.org. OMB Watch intends to continue to operate and upgrade FedSpending.org, adding new features and data to provide a more powerful accountability tool for citizens. http://fedspending.org/

      From the link...

Demand for gasoline fell 5.5 percent last week compared to the same week last year, according to the weekly MasterCard SpendingPulse survey. The survey also found that, on average, demand over the past four weeks is off 6.3 percent compared to the same period last year.

All while the price is going up.

WHY NOT take demand down 60%. I say we take it down to 80% with any major.

    • Why can't Americans stand up like our Founders did?

Where has that spirit of liberty gone? Where has the sustained fire and passion for Democracy gone? In this clip from HBO's magnificent miniseries John Adams, the president of the Continental Congress reads off King George III 's letter of disdain to the members calling them traitors and vowing to have them hanged for disserting their allegiance to the crown. Yet, did they cower? No, they stood up to the first King George, stared him down, and beat his empire with a passionate group of farmers, doctors and the like. Citizens just like you and me who stood up and gave their lives and all they had because this country and freedom were more important than the fear and apprehension of the future and the feigned stature of a King.

Yet today, we sit and cower waiting for a subservient Congress to do what it will never do in upholding its oath... Impeach the second King George with the same spirit that birthed this nation. We wait for them to stand up and face down the same threats and usurpations that brought these Founding Fathers to Philadelphia and dare to call ourselves free while allowing it to continue. I watch clips like this and weep for what we have become. Fearful, distracted, comfortable enablers who talk about the crimes and misdemeanors of these people but who don't on the whole seem to have the guts to do what is necessary to preserve the Declaration of Independence these men put everything they had on the line to sign.

And now, our elections are nothing more than popularity contests wrapped up in dollar bills. Words, promises, platitudes and jockeying to be the "most powerful" ruler in the world, when what we originally set out to do was to be a free country that was benevolent to all, not a money hungry empire maker. We have become that which that Declaration spoke out against.

So why is it that we Americans for all of our talk really cannot stand up as our Founders did? Are we on the whole truly too distracted to care? Or is that even a viable excuse anymore?Voting alone will not bring it back. One person will not bring it back. One election will not bring it back. Personally, I would love to see a new Continental Congress meet in Philadelphia to put the ineffective one we have on notice that if they don't do their job we have many here who will.

    • Can Americans stop Bush/Cheney from attacking Iran? The answer is yes!

The above may seem like a bold statement, but I believe it’s true. The United States of America is operated and kept alive by the American people, not the politicians that rape, pillage, and spend our money and our most precious resource, America’s brave soldiers that fight these illegal wars. Many of our “volunteer military” are not in the fight because of patriotism - but to support their families and seek GI benefits that will allow them to attend college when they leave the armed services.

Our economy is already in ruins, food and gas are becoming luxuries to the poorest families in America, and the middle-class is disappearing faster than Bush’s approval ratings. Millions of us are facing foreclosure, while the oil companies post profits that are obscene - and still receive huge government subsidies. The average American is now becoming aware that Bush and Cheney are war criminals, yet Congress refuses to impeach them, even though there is a mountain of evidence that supports their immediate impeachment, indictment, and incarceration for breaking our own and international laws. Congress is worthless, and as bad as Bush’s ratings are, Congress rates worse, symptoms that the public has lost respect and hope that any of them will find the courage to do what’s right! The only thing left to stop the destruction of our country and another war is the people themselves - but first, they have to know what to do. As we stated over a year ago, its time that America’s premier alternative news sites, Blogs, and every individual on the Internet get busy and come together in solidarity to take back our country.

    • Creating a Non Violent World - Is it Really Possible?

      Introduction—Confronting the Ideological Beast

America is desperately searching for heroes! If this were not true we would not see the incredible success of blockbuster action movies featuring mostly males with superhuman powers who fight for the underdogs by battling greed, injustice, and corruption of power. We have all seen time and again, story after story, encounters between the forces of good and the forces of evil; and we are constantly being challenged to take a side and fight. The emphasis of popular culture in mass media is a perpetuation of violence as the primary solution to the problem of enforcing the American Dream—“The Myth” (Hedges); like Superman fighting for “truth, justice, and the American way of life.” This portrayal of violence as a necessary judicial tool works inevitably to subjugate the most vulnerable people of our planet, namely women and children. It accomplishes this by portraying unrealistic ideologies and distorting and exaggerating differences among race, class, gender, age, sexuality, and especially religion. The media uses images that “shock and awe” our sensibilities—causing us to constantly react—deflecting our attention away from resistance and away from collective empowerment. “One of the most obvious signs of widespread acceptance of violence is the amount of it that routinely appears in media.” (Wood 314) Violence has become a pervasive part of our reality causing us to react with fear—a state in which we can be easily controlled and manipulated.

The media is a multinational enterprise—an “Eminent Domain”—which is the luxury of a privileged few who influence our popular culture and control the mechanism through which the mythologies of popular culture are transfixed. Its primary existence serves to preserve their control of global socio-economics in posterity by bombarding us with so much violence that we scarcely have time to be aware of the fact that we are being manipulated. However, there are those subtle geniuses who emerge from the frontlines and through personal experience have concluded that the status quo is a never ending merry-go-round leading to the annihilation of both sides. In other words, they have come to realize that hero fixation is a sickness that symbiotically—Ying Yang, 69—enforces victimization. These geniuses work behind the scenes influencing the media content, often changing its’ focus or challenging accepted norms. Although there are many people who are actively participating in efforts to transform the socio-economic landscape on many different fronts whether through academia, media, or politics, the most effective means to communicate ideas is through writing.

    • Anonymity - How important is it in society? VETO POWER TO THE PEOPLE

      Photograph by Sabin Corneliu Buraga

With all the clamor of daily life revolving around the acquisition of wealth; every one tries to draw attention to themselves or at least their company or their product. Companies wouldn't make money if they didn't advertise and publicize their names, their logos, their brand.

Many people want to be recognized, liked, admired, and followed. They want their fifteen minutes. They want to be fashionable and trendy.

And yet their are those who prefer to remain in obscurity, privacy and isolation even though they may possess some amazing knowledge or insight that if shared could revolutionize the planet and its inter networked social systems. These are the anonymous contributors that have enriched our experience of reality. They have left their stories, their poems, their art and these contributions that when found and/or publicized, have touched us, sometimes deeply and profoundly.

When I first encountered the concept of anonymity it was in a poem called "Sister and I". This poem was a poem my mother would recite to us when we were little kids as part of a routine of things she did to lull us off to sleep at night. The poem was written by anonymous. As I learned to read books in school and had to check them out from the library at times I started to encounter more writing by this mysterious person called "anonymous". It actually took me a while to figure out that there wasn't just one "anonymous" that there were many anonymous writers. Why would they not want to get credit for what they made? It was an intriguing question.

Later in my academic career I encountered the concept of pseudonyms, that is words that are used as a substitute for the real word or that they mean the same things. And then I learned that writers sometimes wrote in pseudonyms or pen names...Wikipedia has a real cool article about pen names here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pen_name

My point that I am trying to make is that anonymity is important to the security of our nation and the people of this country. Anonymity is what the whole issue around a National Shield Law and Whistle Blower Protection is all about. The people coming forward want to remain anonymous for fear of retaliation; although sometimes the one being ratted out can figure out who did the ratting because the circle of those who knew was small and they could figure it out through a process of elimination and then silence the witness. This is why we have a Witness Protection Program.

With all the fear that the average person is in these days what with Iraq and Armageddon nipping at our heals, its no wonder that we don't have many courageous good Samaritans running around and that integrity and honesty are not even requirements for running a government anymore. Something is seriously wrong with this country; it has a cancer growing and its got a touch of Alzheimer's and I am talking figuratively here ok?

These three things alone would create fear in those that we entrust to govern us and to exploit our god given resources. This is our planet by God and we need to take the power back. TAKE THE POWER BACK!!!

Now why stop at a trifecta, why not give VETO power to the people through the power of the petition. In the Constitution it says that the right of the people to peacefully assemble and to petition for a redress of grievances shall not be unduly denied. I think there could be a constitutional basis for what I am proposing here. The number of signatures needed to achieve a VETO could be argued of course, but think about it. Any legislation and/or executive order could be challenged and placed on hold until a super majority of Senatorial and Congressional votes could overturn the VETO.

Please tell me what you thing about these ideas of Anonymity, and Veto power to the people.

      Thanks.

    • Alternative Radio has Al Gore speaking on the US Constitution, Friday, 1/4, 2:00-3...

Alternative Radio has Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Al Gore speaking on the US Constitution, Friday, 1/4, 2:00-3:00.
Oh my goodness, I was so sad, I'll be working and won't be able to listen. Then it hit me, I listen to Internet radio (smooth jazz), while I work. I'll be able to listen!
Earlier this evening I posted my frustrations. I posted 'There are no real voices that are 'SPEAKING FOR ME'. Al Gore has been my saving grace for the past several years. When mainstream media started choosing the next candidates, a year earlier than necessary. Lot's of hot air, leading people to believe change is closer than it is. Having everyone judging the candidates and not this administration. Had they not been spun into starting the campaign a year early, they could have been doing their jobs. They are Senators whose voices should have been heard on the Senate Floor, not being spun by media pundits. Who's up, Who's down, what do you think? What did it matter, it didn't change my life, other than I'm sick of their spinning. The 'Runaway Bride of '08' and now when it should be important, I'm sick of them. Seems like a plan? Did they start spinning the campaign early because they knew people wouldn't miss an opportunity to judge somebody? In the process lessening the interest, '08 burnout is just around the corner.
I wish they would put that much energy into today, instead of tomorrow.
Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a Gift, that's why we call it Present. Today is a gift, Al Gore is using his gift tomorrow, speaking for the Constitution and I'm sure he will talk about the 'Rule of Law'. Our Constitution is in Crisis.
Pass this along! Al Gore speaking for the Constitution. If you can't listen, I'm sure they will post it somewhere. I appreciate Al Gore's voice, he 'Speaks for me'.
Al Gore would be a loud voice as Presidential Candidate. Stopping the spin with facts. Addressing the spinners from day one. Challenging them with facts, they have to answer with facts, or be exposed as spinners distorting facts. The Constitution and the words contained in it are facts, rules to govern us as FREE Americans guaranteed; life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
Ron Paul is getting support because he is one of the few voices saying the things ordinary Americans want to hear. He's too far out there for me. I like what he say's, but I don't agree with all his views either. Too much change. I want facts about the direction for the country as well as facts on a plan to get us there.

Very few doubt that Bush and Cheney have wrecked havoc on America and caused hundreds of thousands of deaths throughout the world, but in retrospect, their actions and behavior have been condoned and suppressed by America?s fascist Mainstream News Media - and without their support, The Commander in Thief and Darth Cheney would have been impeached, removed from office, and prosecuted for their crimes years ago if we still had real news and true investigative reporting in the United States.

The MSM, now owned and controlled by corporate America, have betrayed the people, and without their betrayal, the criminal actions of a Presidency that is out of control would have been halted long before they were able to bankrupt our country and compromise the very essence of liberty and freedom! Those who control Fox News, ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, and the huge amount of radio and television stations throughout our country - which are being bought-out by fascist forces that support corporatism and tyranny, are still gaining in strength - and as usual, Fox News, The Republican Learning Channel, constantly leads the charge to change a democratic republic into a fascist and authoritarian state. Our anti-trust laws have been ignored and changed to allow the enemies of freedom to flourish, while individual rights are now severely curtailed and are disappearing almost as fast as the wealth and integrity that once made America the world?s most respected superpower.

"For the past several years I have been telling anyone that would listen, mainstream news media are co-conspirators to this administration, putting America in Constitutional Crisis.
America is at a turning point, we are either governed by the Constitution and the 'Rule of Law' or we are not. We are in the process of setting precedence for future governance.
      .
Our future Presidents are no longer obligated to uphold the Constitution and the Rule of Law. The signing statements and presidential whims now supersede the Constitution and the 'Rule of Law'. This President and mainstream media have made a mockery of the 'Oath of Office'. The President swears to uphold the Constitution and the 'Rule of Law'? Who will write the new Oath? Will they include the verbiage; "The Constitution and Rule of Law are now open to the President's interpretation"?

Mainstream media survives via sponsors! Sponsors survive via consumers! Consumers and democracy survive via honesty in jornalism! As consumers we have more power than we are lead to believe. We need to turn the channel when mainstream media spins fact and spin as equal. *Facts are facts*, *spin is - spin distorting facts*! We need to take back our airwaves and demand honesty in jornalism via the power of the purse! Money talks, spin walks!

Will we really choose to silence the voices of the future? Who's to gain by their silence? Who will loose by their silence? I'm afraid it is US - WE THE PEOPLE! IS FREE SPEECH NOW TERRORISM? I'M NO TERRORIST, BUT I LOVE FREE SPEECH! I'M AN ORDINARY AMERICAN LIVING A MODEST LIFE. FREE SPEECH IS ONE OF THE FEW FREE THINGS LEFT IN AMERICA. DON'T LET THEM TAKE IT AWAY!
Bruce Fein makes the case much better than I, so I will include the paragraph which covers a couple of the individuals who would have been possible criminals, had this law been part of our past, instead of our direction for the future. ***Under the Act, William Lloyd Garrison would have been guilty of promoting "violent radicalization" for publishing the anti-slavery Liberator in 1831, which "facilitated" John Brown. Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton would have been condemned for assailing laws disenfranchising women and creating an intellectual atmosphere receptive to violence. And Martin Luther King, Jr. would have fallen under the Act's suspicion for denouncing Jim Crow and practicing civil disobedience, which "facilitated" H. Rap Brown.** Will we really choose to silence the voices of the future? Who's to gain by their silence? Who will loose by their silence? I'm afraid it is US - WE THE PEOPLE! • Down the rabbit hole - the president is not legally obliged to follow his own exec...

Earlier this month, senator Sheldon Whitehouse made a stunning revelation: the president is not legally obliged to follow his own executive orders.
This nation is at one of the most perilous and sensitive junctures in its history: either the true rule of law prevails, or the rule of men prevails. Corporate America owns the airwaves and they are spinning 'Rule of Men' as Law of the Land. It is not, we are America, with a Constitution which requires the 'Rule of Law' as our form of government.

    • Legal Community Condemns Destruction of CIA Tapes

This is too important! Don't move along! There is something to see here! Congress needs to investigate! Find them innocent, or find them guilty, but don't ignore. We have the 'Rule of Law', we are not waiting for our Constitution, we have it already! It is the DUTY of Congress to enforce the 'Rule of Law' and investigate wrong doing. Congress is being paid to do a job, they need to earn their pay. We have been in campaign mode for a year already and looking forward to another year. Soon all American politicians will do is campaign? Doesn't something see a bit esque?

**A former US Department of Justice (DOJ) ethics adviser has joined leading members of the US legal community in calling on Congress to investigate the destruction of tape recordings of interrogations carried out by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).

Jesselyn Radack ? who came to prominence as a whistleblower after she objected to the government's treatment of John Walker Lindh, the "American Taliban" captured during the 2001 invasion of Afghanistan ? told a news teleconference last week that the destroyed tapes are "part of a pattern." She said, "There are some five million missing White House e-mails. No one knows where the hit lists are from the US Attorney massacre. And now the CIA interrogation videotapes have been erased. This is criminal."

"Remember when the Justice Department prosecuted Enron and Arthur Anderson for destruction of evidence and obstruction of justice? Now the Justice Department is trying to block congressional oversight and legal proceedings involving this latest scandal," Radack added.

Radack's comments came during the launch of a new campaign, "American Lawyers Defending the Constitution." The effort is backed by a statement signed by more than 1,300 lawyers and law students around the country, including former New York governor Mario Cuomo, former Reagan administration official Bruce Fein, leaders of legal organizations and more than 100 law professors in the US.**

    • My Christmas Wish for America

My Christmas wish for America. I wish Americans would find their voices, their compassion, their values and speak up for America, NOW! WE ARE BETTER THAN THIS! IF WE DON'T SHOW IT, THE REST OF THE WORLD WON'T KNOW IT!
