Gratuitous misogyny or just plain fun?

Visit America before America visits you
I'm interested in what this says about the transplantation of American culture abroad. The fact that people listen to rap music across the globe is nothing new. American music, television, and radio can be viewed in almost any country of the world. American fashion trends dominate the minds of youth everywhere. Generally, the effect of American trends being transplanted across the globe has been viewed as rather innocuous. But recently, people in the Middle East and elsewhere are beginning to question this rabid consumption of all things American. In Sudan, transplantation of gangsta culture in particular has not occurred without damaging effects. Without necessarily knowing the origins of the music that they are listening to, some young Sudanese emigrants have begun to take on the lifestyles referenced in various rap songs.
