Cloned puppies may have exposed 31-year mystery
"A woman who made news around the world when she had five pups cloned from her beloved pit bull Booger looked very familiar to some who saw her picture: She may be the same woman who 31 years earlier was accused of abducting a Mormon missionary in England, handcuffing him to a bed and making him her sex slave.
A paper trail of court documents and jail booking information uncovered by The Associated Press suggests 57-year-old dog-lover Bernann McKinney is Joyce McKinney, who in 1977 faced charges of unlawful imprisonment in the missionary case. She jumped bail and was never brought to justice.
British tabloids first recognized the blonde woman's smiling face when she appeared in news photographs this past week with the five pit bull pups she paid South Korean scientists $53,000 to clone from her pet dog Booger who died two years ago.
There is indeed a striking resemblance between Bernann McKinney and Joyce McKinney. Arrest records and court documents for the two names over the years show other similarities: the same birth date and Social Security numbers, the same hometown of Newland, N.C., and Joyce McKinney's middle name is Bernann.
"It fits," said Utah filmmaker Trent Harris, who made a documentary about Joyce McKinney's case. He said photographs of McKinney and the dogs left him with no question about her identity.
"I said 'Oh my God, that's Joyce,'" he said.
Bernann McKinney has flatly denied any connections to Joyce McKinney and says she planned to take legal action against those who suggested otherwise.
"I'm filing a $10 million libel action and I don't think you want AP to be part of that," McKinney said before boarding a plane to return to the U.S."

Police search for suspect in fatal puppy stabbing
Authorities are offering a $6,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of whoever is responsible for stabbing Pogo, a three-legged puppy to death in San Francisco.
Pogo, a seven-month-old pit bull pup, was out for a walk with his foster parent last week at Ocean Beach when he disappeared behind a sand dune.
Pogo's body was discovered Tuesday, dumped across town in the Bayview. He weighed about 40 pounds and had white around the nose. He was wearing a red collar.
"Because this dog was killed with multiple stab wounds and this is something that is uncommon here in San Francisco, that's why we're investigating this to the fullest. So we're asking anyone who has any information to give our emergency dispatch a call," said an officer working on the case.
PLEASE HELP! $6,000 REWARD!
Anyone with information is asked to call (415) 554-9400.

Judge sentences man to 5 years in Prison for putting puppies in dumpster!
A man accused of dumping a bagful of puppies in a Riverdale, Utah trash bin has been sentenced to serve up to five years in prison.
Rita Woodward, the woman who found the lone surviving puppy, cried as she urged the judge to give Howard the maximum sentence possible.
Sentences like this that are equal to that of taking human life, cheapens human lives.
Killing puppies is wrong and deserves a punishment, like fines, community service and maybe jail time but 5 years at the big house!!!! No way.
Be careful next time you spray those ants....someone may be watching.

STOP PUPPY MILLS! ADOPT A RESCUE DOG
Thousands of dogs in puppy mills are treated as commodities, a way to make money as fast and as cheaply as possible. Chances are a puppy purchased in a pet shop or on line started out their life in a wire cage with only minimal food and water, and possibly freezing temps in winter and blazing hot barns in summer. Wire cages are stacked on top of each other, sometimes five or six high, and the urine and feces falls from the top to the lower cages. Often puppies are crushed of smothered because their litter mates pile on top of them to avoid the sharp wire cages from cutting their feet. Dogs are kept in crowded wire cages and forced to churn out more and more puppies until they die or are turned lose on the streets - or killed - because they are no longer 'profitable.'
Please, if you want a specific breed of dog, look for a rescue puppy through the groups associated with that breed. Never ever buy a puppy from a pet store or on-line. Visit the breeder if you want to buy a dog, insist on seeing the facilities where your puppy were bred. Don't fall for the 'papers' puppy mills offer, as most of them are fakes, printed out on their office computer.
Volunteer for your local animal rescue group or donate. I serve as a foster mom for puppies that my group rescues from auctions. Puppies are spayed or neutered when they become of age and are not allow to be bred. Many of the over-bred pups have numerous genetci defects and serious health issues due to overbreading.
Stop animal suffereing and spread the word about the horrors of puppy mills! Thousands of dogs in puppy mills are treated as commodities, a way to make money as fast and as cheaply as possible. Chances are a pu... more -

STOP The Suffering of Puppy Mills
Greed drives the owners of Puppy Mills who breed popular and rare breeds of dogs for profit. Some puppies are smothered when their siblings climb on top of them to escape the sharp wire of their cage and many others freeze to death in unheated garages, barns and outbuildings. Some crates of Moms and pups are stacked five high so the urine and feces rains down on the lower cages. Some breeds of puppies sell for up to $2000 or more in "Pet Stores", so the breeders don't are if some of the pups and moms die in the process. After a female is too old, sick or weak to breed she is dumpped or killed as she will no longer bring a profit. Due to over-breeding, puppies are often deformed or have hidden genetic problems that don't show up for several years.
Please DO NOT ever buy a 'pure breed' puppy from a Pet Store, find a reputable breeder and insist on seeing their facility before paying. Fake papers are easy to make, so don't be fooled. Better yet, find a rescue site for the breed of dog you are interested in, and save another dog from a horrible fate. Greed drives the owners of Puppy Mills who breed popular and rare breeds of dogs for profit. Some puppies are smothered when their si... more -

Dolly Parton postpones tour, blames breasts
Dolly Parton's breasts may be two of the wonders of the entertainment world, but the country music icon says they are a pain in her back.
Parton, 62, said on Monday she would postpone her upcoming North American tour after doctors told her to take it easy for six to eight weeks to rest her sore back.
"Hey, you try wagging these puppies around a while and see if you don't have back problems," the folksy singer-songwriter said in a statement.
The tour was due to begin on February 28 in Minneapolis, two days after the release of "Backwoods Barbie," her first album of mainstream country music in 17 years. She hopes to hit the road in late April. Dolly Parton's breasts may be two of the wonders of the entertainment world, but the country music icon says they are a pain in h... more -
