Performance Enhancing Drugs: the REAL issue
There is no doubt that performance enhancing drugs don't belong in baseball. What i'd like to address is why? Most of what is spoken about performance enhancing drugs is in regards to the unfair advantage it gives to the athletes that use them, but is this really the key issue? what about safety? What about the studies proving that steroid use regularly make indivuals more aggresive and unpredictable amongst a number of other side effects. Does a Chris Benoit type of incident have to happen to a major leaguer for those in the baseball community to take steroids seriously?

Baseball is Protecting Itself
The problem of steroids in MLB is much more widespread than Barry Bonds. Though, this doesn't exclude him for breaking the rules and smudging one of baseball's most cherished records. The shadow of this story covers up Major League Baseball continually working on damage control to ensure that fans still buy tickets to games. From Pete Rose to striking, MLB has seen its share of controversy and might get broken if a dragnet really exposed all the players that are using steroids. Barry Bonds charged
A US federal grand jury has charged baseball star Barry Bonds with perjury and obstructing justice over a steroids inquiry, justice officials say.
The jury was investigating testimony given by the San Francisco star in 2003, that he had never knowingly used performance-enhancing drugs.
Bonds became the all-time home run record holder in August when he beat Hank Aaron's total of 755 runs.
But his feat has been overshadowed by claims he used steroids.
The Major League Baseball star announced in September that he would leave the San Francisco Giants at the end of the season after the club decided not to renew his contract.
He said that he had no intention of retiring from the game.
The left-hander has never tested positive for drug use and denies knowingly taking performance-enhancing substances.
Nevertheless, he was dogged by rumours when his home run tally took off after he turned 35, moving past the legendary Babe Ruth into second place in May of last year with his 715th career home run. Barry Bonds Indicted by Federal Grand Jury
As a wise man once told me in second grade. "Nany nany poo poo ... cheaters never prosper"....
SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 15, 2007 - Baseball superstar Barry Bonds was charged Thursday with perjury and obstruction of justice for allegedly lying when he said he did not use performance-enhancing drugs.
The indictment, unsealed Thursday by federal prosecutors in San Francisco, is the culmination of a four-year federal probe into whether he lied under oath to a grand jury investigating steroid use by elite athletes.
The indictment comes three months after the 43-year-old Bonds, one of the biggest names in professional sports, passed Hank Aaron to become baseball's career home run leader, his sport's most hallowed record. Bonds, who parted ways with the San Francisco Giants at the end of last season and has yet to sign with another team, also holds the game's single-season home run record of 73. Marion Jones: Off the Throne
In the latest of fun/uplifting sports stories that honor time old traditions and give kids inspiration Marion Jones will plead guilty to using steroids. The steroid use doesn't really come as a huge suprise because of Marions links to BALCO (think Barry Bonds) and previous allegations. Now she is looking at her 5 Olympic medals being taken away from her and her TEAMMATES. Her line is "I didn't know that that I was taking performance enhancing drugs, my trainer just gave them to me!" I love this line. Come on people. You notice these drugs when your taking them and no trainer would just give you steroids and not tell you before you enter the Olympic games which have the highest testing standards. Thats like me saying "Oh I didn't know I had a blue mohawk, my stylist just cut my hair." Come on. The sad part is that this shows that even the Olympic Games are susceptible to cheaters. Kids take it from AROC... there are two things to remember in life "One, don't do that!" 10 WWE Wrestlers Suspended for Steroids
Really? You aren't allowed to use steroids in the WWE? I didn't think there was anyone in the WWE who didn't use "flax seed cream" or whatever Barry Bonds likes to call it.But I'm certainly not complaining - if these suspensions could get these guys to stop taking this stuff, then great. Chris Benoit, who killed his wife and son before killing himself, was ordering 10 months worth of the stuff every 3-4 weeks. The more we can get drugs out of the mainstream of any culture, the better, in my opinion. Really? You aren't allowed to use steroids in the WWE? Bonds would skip Hall of Fame induction
Barry Bonds would boycott Cooperstown if the Hall of Fame displays his record-breaking home run ball with an asterisk.
That includes skipping his potential induction ceremony.
"I won't go. I won't be part of it," Bonds said in an interview with MSNBC that aired Thursday night. "You can call me, but I won't be there."
The ball Bonds hit for home run No. 756 this season will be branded with an asterisk and sent to the Hall. Fashion designer Marc Ecko bought the ball in an online auction and set up a Web site for fans to vote on its fate. In late September, he announced fans voted to send the ball to Cooperstown with an asterisk.
Of course, the asterisk suggests Bonds' record is tainted by alleged steroid use. Barry Bonds would boycott Cooperstown if the Hall of Fame displays his record-breaking home run ball with an asterisk. ... more -

Bonds lactated
I just had to share two claims from the new issue of SF Weekly about Barry Bonds:1. Desperate to combat the testicular shrinkage that can occur with steroids use, Bonds injected human growth hormone directly into his genitals during the 2002 playoffs with disastrous results for both him and the Giants.2. In early 2003, owing to the performance-enhancing drugs coursing through his body, Bonds suddenly began lactating, forcing doctors to excise his mammary glands. Wow.
