    • Jesus Christ quits Christianity after viewing Republican platform

For years, Jesus Christ had kept quiet while his “followers” had killed and committed horrendous acts of intolerance in his name. They were the “birth pangs” of a new religion, his surrogates would say. One day he would be accepted by all as a liberator.

But in an announcement that has left his followers shaken, the Christ himself has come forward to announce that he is leaving Christianity, effective immediately. The reasoning: The 2008 Republican Platform. Reached for comment at a West Hollywood coffee shop, Christ said that he couldn’t deal with a world that so misinterpreted his words and actions.

“They mention the word ‘faith’ 12 times in their platform,” said Christ. “Do they think we’re idiots or something?”

Christ went on to say that he had grown tired of being portrayed as a “marauding archangel of vengeance,” and that he held out little hope that the world would ever accept his message of peace.

“There’s a new breed of Christian out there that seems to think I represent free-for-all capitalism and slaying my enemies,” said Christ, munching on an arugula quiche. “I mean, they made Isaiah into a Cold War-era strategist, for Dad’s sake. Did they even read the New Testament?”

With the 2008 U.S. Presidential election coming up in short order, many have expressed skepticism over the timing of Christ’s announcement. Reached for comment, John McCain’s campaign lobbyist Rick Davis said that his candidate would not be responding to the “obvious liberal smear.”

“John McCain has made it clear that he will not speak to or about Jesus Christ until Christ shows him the respect he deserves,” said Davis. “John McCain was a POW and deserves respect. Jesus obviously can’t understand the kind of sacrifice John McCain made.”

For his part, Democratic Presidential nominee Barack Obama has said he plans to stay above the fray.

“This is above my pay grade,” said Obama during a campaign stop in Canton, Kansas. “Way, way, way above my pay grade.”

The reaction from many political entertainers was swift. Sean Hannity of Fox News made clear his disappointment in Christ.

“Seriously, let him go,” said Hannity to co-host Sean Colmes on the popular show “Hannity & Colmes” on Fox News. “If he doesn’t have the courage to face up to the Republican platform, how can he ever stand up to Osama bin Laden. This is a partisan attack, plain and simple.”

In response, Colmes vehemently disagreed with Hannity.

“But, but, but … , ” said Colmes.

The major religious corporations of the world have yet to comment on Christ’s decision. At the Vatican Web site, a simple message appeared: “Thank you for allowing us time to reflect on this matter. Pray for us, and know that we need your tithing now more than ever.”

Many devout Christians have stated that Christ’s abandonment will not affect their faith.

“Jesus Christ is the one true savior and those who don’t accept him into their heart will perish in eternal damnation,” said religious entertainer Joel Osteen. “That is the truth, regardless of Christ’s actual involvement.”

A thoughtful Christ said he had yet to decide what would be next for him, but expressed pride in his philosophy and accomplishments.

“We had a good run,” said Christ. “It really far exceeded anything I had hoped for, but humanity was supposed to become more evolved over time, not less.

“It’s just time to pull the plug.”

Christ said he would likely dedicate his time to working on an autobiography that will focus on his philosophies and work with people from all walks of life.

“I figure after 2,000 years it’s about time there was a book about me,” said Christ. “You know, from someone who was actually there.”

When pressed for details, Christ said he wasn’t allowed to reveal anything about the upcoming tome due to a contractual commitment with But Christ did allow for one tidbit to be released - what the “H” stood for in “Jesus H. Christ.”

“Hector,” said Christ, walking out the door.

    • Dead Christ

      Dead Christ
Andrea Mantegna, Hans Holbein the younger and the dead Christ. Same subject, same painful surprise, but different meanings and emotions.
The bodies lie on the cold marble slab, devoid of life and cause very different feelings. The angle of perspective of Mantegna’s Christ  is brilliant and revolutionary. The figure appears, in fact dramatically compressed, as an immanent force. The painful cry, is despair, in the Pietà of Enguerrand Quarton. The feet are those of a farmer, large, with swollen toes. The meat pierced feet and hands exacerbates pain, the dramatic scene of the eternal mischief. It seems almost that life is leaking from these holes. Life is no more, but is not yet death. And the left hand of Christ, with little finger supported the marble, it seems having to raise from one moment to another. It 'a dead body that emanates still force. Meat tormented, lie under the sacred cloth covering the Christ. The torso discovered, sculpted from heavenly light. That Christ dead is not yet definitively a corpse. He is a dead man still capable of suffering and to transmit pain, anguish and regret. Not so for the Christ of Holbein. His figure is compressed by a narrow space which is anguish and the body is awaiting its burial. That of Mantegna "lives" even in death. The Christ of Holbein is only corpse. Death took the upper hand and starts its work of disintegration. The accuracy of anatomical representation is terrifying. This Christ no more consoles but offers a shocking vision: that of a body which starts to decompose itself. Starting from the forward arm which is already bruising. I do not want to see him so as to not see those lost eyes, which depict not only more pain, but more loss, something  inhuman, something, not divine. Holbein’s  Christ has been really abandoned.
Not that of Mantegna though, which appears in the later stage of an exhausting agony. That which Holbein interprets are the turmoil and tensions with which religions have tormented Northern Europe in the first part of the sixteenth century. A macabre vision that gives no consolation or hope. The Christ has left the man and was in turn abandoned: there is no figure around him. And  'for two thousand years that the passion of Christ emerges from the meat which has ceased to live, to cancel itself and come back powerfully, intact,  it is this which reproduces the mystery, that infinite  anguish, with questions which tear apart. And in man himself, in relative, the father, in the friend  who dies and becomes a corpse. All this is part of our history, part of us. For all infinite.

    • Iran's answer to the "passion of the Christ"?!

Its a award winning Iranian film "The Messiah" showing Jesus's (pbuh) life but it differs with the traditional Christian view... because here Jesus (pbuh) wasnt crucified! Yup... you heard right, he wasnt crucified but saved -based on Qur'an, 4:157!

The film has two endings... one with the traditional Christian viewpoint and the other with a interpretion from a Muslim perspective (which all Muslims may not agree with) to generate interfaith dialogue! Jesus (pbuh) is loved in Islam as a Messenger of God, Prophet of God and as the Messiah (annoited one) sent by Allah (God) but he isnt the son of God. However both faiths do agree and believe that Jesus (pbuh) will return... hopefully very soon!

    • The Medical Aspects of the Crucifixion

Have you ever wondered what sort of torment Jesus endured during the crucifixion from a medical point of view? Doctor David Terasaka takes a medical look at Christ's suffering on the day of his crucifixion. This is a very compelling perspective and might appeal to people who prefer a more scientific look at how Jesus was able to endure such great torment.

      Enjoy.

    • Who really killed Jesus?

Who is really responsible for the death of Jesus Christ? Since the crucifixion, history has been filled with situations of violent antisemitism, justified by the belief that Jews were responsible for Christ's death.

This great article, by well-known preacher John MacArthur, shows who truly is responsible for Jesus' death.

It is not the gifts, or the trre, but is the very fact that God came to flesh, died for our unworthy souls, and saved us from ourselves. We celeberate to thank our God for the sacrafise of becoming human with every essential part to be human. now, i say to you all let us not forget the true meaning of why we celebrate christmas-God! lets celebrate!! this is the time when all family alike celeberate christmas, but it seems though gifts are given, we tend to look at the wrong meanin... more

    • Pagan Origins of the Christ Myth

Don't tell mom you're an atheist - oh my god!

It is really startling when you start to do the research on the internet and you realize that their are unmistakable parallels and patterns that are copied or borrowed from ancient cultures and civilizations all over the world. These ancient cultures and civilizations, considered pagan by modern day Christians, held sacred truths that are remarkably similar to the sacred truths of Christianity.

The most notable parallel is that of Jesus and Egyptian god Horus. Both were son's of Gods, born of virgins, turned water into wine, were good shepherds, etc.. I was blown away. You got to check these things out for yourself.

If you consider yourself to be religious, prepare to have your world rocked by a major reality earthquake. If you aren't particularly religious then prepare yourself to have one aha moment after another.
