McCain wants Sonic fast food...
At an economic round table in Des Moines Tuesday morning, John McCain called on Congress to work to pass a new version of the economic bailout bill. In this news conference... McCain used Sonic Corporation as his idea of a small business quoting:
"Sonic Corporation, a drive-in restaurant chain based in Oklahoma, learned on Thursday that one of its lenders, GE Capital, had stopped extending new loans to the chain's franchisees. That will block plans to rebuild restaurants, add equipment and open new locations. When small businesses like Sonic franchisees can't borrow, contractors don't get the remodeling work, equipment-makers lose sales, and restaurants go out of business. It hurts the entire community."
What will we do if we can't have Happy Hour Slushies from 2-4 everyday of the week? That isn't that America I want to live in. I want Sonic. I want McCain. Bill O'Reilly Versus GE
Bill O'Reilly, the Fox News star, is mounting an extraordinary televised assault on the chief executive of General Electric, calling him a "pinhead" and a "despicable human being" who bears responsibility for the deaths of American soldiers in Iraq.
On the surface, O'Reilly's charges revolve around GE's history of doing business with Iran. But the attacks grow out of an increasingly bitter feud between O'Reilly and the company's high-profile subsidiary, NBC, one that has triggered back-channel discussions involving News Corp. owner Rupert Murdoch, Fox News Chairman Roger Ailes, NBC chief executive Jeff Zucker and General Electric's CEO, Jeffrey Immelt. Tear free onions
Cry no more! Science is here to help!
Scientists in New Zealand and Japan have created a "tear-free" onion using biotechnology to switch off the gene behind the enzyme that makes us cry.
My guess is that now the onion will probably end up causing loose stool or some other exciting and embarrassing side effect. Cry no more! Science is here to help! ... more -
Bill Moyers Journal: Keith Olbermann on his Special Comments
Bill Moyers sat down with MSNBC?s Keith Olbermann to discuss his breakout from the rest of the mainstream media with his Special Comments.
BILL MOYERS: ?You have some strong things to say about politics.
KEITH OLBERMANN: It became necessary.
BILL MOYERS: Why?
KEITH OLBERMANN: I was sitting on a plane in Los Angeles reading in August of 2006 about Don Rumsfeld talking to the veterans and talking about how every? everyone who was in opposition to the Iraq War policy, the so-called war on terror, even to some degree the Bush administration, was the equivalent in his mind to the Nazi appeasers of the 1930s. And he went on at length about how, you know, here?s the? we?re doing the Churchillian role. And I thought, you know, sir, I took history classes. Your group is not Churchill. Your group is Neville Chamberlain because Neville Chamberlain minimized and marginalized anybody who disagreed with him. Reading this ridiculous remark and waiting to see somebody respond to it. And no one did. I?m thinking, well, you know, somebody with a platform ought to be talking about this. Somebody with a? with an avenue to respond should be? oh, yeah, I have a platform.

Proposed Ban on Genetically Modified Corn in Europe
European Union environmental officials have determined that two kinds of genetically modified corn could harm butterflies, affect food chains and disturb life in rivers and streams, and they have proposed a ban on the sale of the seeds, which are made by DuPont Pioneer, Dow Agrosciences and Syngenta.
Banning the applications for corn crops also would mark a bold new step for European environmental authorities, who are already aggressively pursuing regulations on emissions from cars and aircraft, setting it at odds with the United States and angering industries.
These products have been grown in the U.S. and other countries for years, said Stephen Norton, a spokesman for the United States trade representative. We are not aware of any other case when a product has been rejected after having been reviewed and determined safe by European food safety authorities, he said.
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Go EU, here in the US we're idiots right now. We basically can't be trusted at this point in time. On anything, anywhere. Sad to say it's true. Please ignore our politicians and corporations telling of the safety of GMOs.
It doesn't have to be this way folks. Vote.
I gave Dennis Kucinich $100 tooday (Nov. 23 2007), even though I had to charge it. I think he is our best hope. https://services.myngp.com/ngponlineservices/contributi...
I'm going to donate $100 to John Edwards too, he is a solid choice.
(I will get back with link later for Edwards, after I donate!)
Won't you consider doing the same?
If not now, then when?
