This is a really sad day for Israel as what Kuntar did was awful and to release him and to see him welcomed as a hero is truly disturbing.

Israel has posted a clip on the video-sharing Web site YouTube detailing the crimes committed by Lebanese terrorist Samir Kuntar, who was freed on Wednesday as part of a prisoner exchange deal with Hezbollah.

The Prime Minister's Office produced the video and released it on Tuesday as part of a campaign to tarnish the image of the Lebanese guerilla group in light of the victory celebrations held in Lebanon for return of Kuntar, jailed in Israel in 1979 for a terrorist attack that left four Israelis dead.

Israeli authorities say a "terrorist" rammed a bulldozer into a bus and several other vehicles in Jerusalem Wednesday, killing at least three people and injuring at least 30 others. • "Occupation 101: Voices of the Silenced Majority"

"A thought-provoking and powerful documentary film on the current and historical root causes of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Unlike any other film ever produced on the conflict -- 'Occupation 101' presents a comprehensive analysis of the facts and hidden truths surrounding the never ending controversy and dispels many of its long-perceived myths and misconceptions.

The film also details life under Israeli military rule, the role of the United States in the conflict, and the major obstacles that stand in the way of a lasting and viable peace. The roots of the conflict are explained through first-hand on-the-ground experiences from leading Middle East scholars, peace activists, journalists, religious leaders and humanitarian workers whose voices have too often been suppressed in American media outlets.

The film covers a wide range of topics -- which include -- the first wave of Jewish immigration from Europe in the 1880's, the 1920 tensions, the 1948 war, the 1967 war, the first Intifada of 1987, the Oslo Peace Process, Settlement expansion, the role of the United States Government, the second Intifada of 2000, the separation barrier and the Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, as well as many heart wrenching testimonials from victims of this tragedy.

Occupation 101 features a leading list of some of the most credible Middle East scholars, historians, peace activists, journalists, and humanitarian workers."

    • Successful Peace Maker Jimmy Carter Shunned By Israel As He Attempts Peace There

Former US President Jimmy Carter, a Nobel Peace Prize winner who brokered the first Arab-Israeli peace accord, is being shunned by Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni and Defence Minister Ehud Barak.

Why? Because the former President wants to talk with Hamas in Palestine as well. The Israeli government is afraid of Jimmy. Israel has alot they do not want to talk about because Israel has broken their own laws as well as International laws by continuing to rob the Palestinians of their land. Israeli government continues to murder innocent children and people. Israeli government continues to block much needed medical supplies as well as food going into Palestine.

If someone robs you of your land, aren't you going to fight for it?

That is the reason why there is so much hate and discontent in the Mid East. Israel continues to take advantage of the Palestinians who have no budget for self defense. Israelis unlimited defense budget is supplied by the US government (without the peoples permission).

Israel needs to change their arrogant and selfish, greedy ways. Maybe when they do give back the land to Palestine, they will do what the US government did for the Native Americans in return for the stolen land and murdering that happened to them. Casinos?

US Vice President Dick Cheney is set to meet in the West Bank Sunday with Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas and prime minister Salam Fayyad as part of an Easter weekend bid to revive peace efforts.

Cheney, who met with Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert on Saturday, promised an "unshakeable" defense of Israel's security whilst assuring Palestinians of US "goodwill", as he renewed efforts to secure a peace deal before US President George W. Bush's term ends in January 2009.

    • Gaza tensions spill onto Facebook

There has been an unusual catalyst furthering the Israeli-Palestinian conflict: social networking site, Facebook.

According to reports, Jews residing in the West Bank were incensed to discover they had to choose Palestine, not Israel, when filling out their location network.

After an Israeli campaign, Facebook offered its users the option of listing Israel or Palestine as their country.

Should Facebook have preempted such conflicting issues?

    • Hamas lays down 'temporary' ceasefire conditions

According to reports, the tensions between Israelis and Palestinians could be close to a temporary resolution after Hamas has set out their 'conditions' for a ceasefire.

The ceasefire will see an end to the Gaza and West Bank violence as well as the reopening of Gaza border crossings, with speculation that the ceasefire could foster invaluable progress in the US-brokered peace talks.

The violence in the area has declined dramatically in the past week following months of 'offensive' attacks from both sides, but although the attacks have subsided, there has still been no 'direct' contact between the two opposing sides.

Hamas has spoken out about the impending ceasefire, but insisted that cooperation is expected in every sense:

"There must be a commitment by Israel to end all acts of aggression against our people, assassinations, killings and raids, and lift the (Gaza) siege and reopen the crossings."

The specifics of any 'permanent' ceasefire seem unclear at the moment. Egyptian officials have been mediating talks, but if the negotiations exclude Hamas, the long-term solution may be a long way off.

    • Israel calls off air strikes

It has been reported that the Israeli prime minister, Ehud Olmert, has called a halt to the air strikes and raids that have battered the Gaza Strip over the last few weeks, following rocket fire also being halted in the region.

Although there have been no formal agreements made between Israeli defence officials and Hamas, it has been reported that an informal truce appears to have been instigated.

Israeli ministers have ordered the army to reduce its operations in the area to allow Egypt to continue mediation talks

Olmert and the Palestinian president, Mahmoud Abbas, the leader of the Fatah movement, have set a target of December for reaching a final peace deal. Abbas briefly called off negotiations last week in response to the continued Israeli military operation in Gaza.

    • Gaza militants kill Israeli soldier in 'daring' attack

The Israeli and Palestinian tensions continue after it has been reported that Palestinian militants ambushed an Israeli army jeep patrolling the Gaza border killing one soldier.

Palestinian witnesses said a large explosion tore through the jeep on the Israeli side of the border fence, something which has been confirmed by military officials. When several other army vehicles and an army helicopter came to assist and rescue their colleagues, they also came under fire from a Gazan offensive.

The attack is the first of it's kind by Palestinian militants and, according to The Telegraph, "appeared to have been inspired by the tactics of the Iranian-trained Lebanese group Hizbollah."

Senior Israeli military officers held emergency talks to try and plot a response to the latest attacks, which came only 48 hours after Israel ended their offensive in which over 100 people have been killed.

    • Palestians say peace talks back on

The moderate Palestinian leadership agreed under heavy U.S. pressure Wednesday to resume peace talks with Israel, dropping a demand that Israel first reach a truce with Islamic Hamas militants acting as spoilers.

The announcement gave Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice a modest accomplishment for a brief troubleshooting mission. It left open the question of how both sides will eventually confront Hamas militants in charge of the 1.4 million Palestinians—nearly half the population—living in the sealed-off Gaza Strip.

    • Bush thinks Middle East peace is still achievable

With the months ticking down in his last term, George Bush has today said that there is still 'plenty of time' to squeeze in a peace deal in the Middle East.

At a White House meeting with King Abdullah II of Jordan, Bush spoke out about Mideast tensions saying that the process always has 'two steps forward and one step back,' with him going on to say, in true Dubya fashion, "We just need to make sure that it's just one step back."

Bush's meeting coincides with Condoleezza Rice's visit to the Middle East which is an attempt to salvage negotiations that looked ready to collapse.

He remains positive and was quick to shrug off any time constraints for the peace deal,

"There happens to be a timetable, as far as I'm concerned, and that is I am leaving office."

    • Israel warns Gaza: we will invade

After a barrage of Grad rockets fired from Gaza on Thursday struck the Israeli border town of Ashkelon, Israel has activated a rocket warning system, and is warning that they will use their full force (read: ground military operations in Gaza) if needed to stop the rocket attacks.

Israel's continued aerial and ground attacks on Gaza killed seventeen people yesterday as tensions on the West Bank continue to escalate.

A refugee camp also came under fire after it was stormed by the Israeli army in a 'search and arrest' raid, which saw two Palestinian gunmen killed in the 'fire exchange.'

Hamas's Interior Minister responded to the attacks and unrest saying that:
"President Abbas should decide whether he supports this war against his people or he condemns it. The Arab and Islamic worlds should also move to prevent the Israeli aggression."

    • Trading in violence for theater in the West Bank

A few years ago, Zakariya Zubeidi was the leader of the militant group Al Aksa Martyrs Brigade in the West Bank city of Jenin and was one of Israel's most wanted men. A few months ago, under a controversial new amnesty program to stop inter-Palestinian violence, Zubeidi agreed to give up his M-16 and started a children's theater program instead. "Theater is much more beneficial than a weapon that is aimless, that does not have a proper target," Zubeidi said in the NPR interview. These days he spends his time reaching out to youth of the Jenin Refugee Camp and is encouraging the children in the program to write and act their aggressions out instead of doing it through militant, violent means. Ahmed al Raohk, a 19 year old aspiring actor in the refugee camp and one of the kids involved in the theater said, "I want to spread the message that people should not be afraid to say what they think...and through art, maybe they can do that."
