No Sales At Sundance
This morning the WSJ reported on the dismal outlook the independent film scene is facing. With many independent distributors out of business few sales took place at Sundance this year. John Sloss, the man who "virtually owns Sundance" (his own words) could not even sell his full slate of films.
Read my article to see where the independent film scene is going and why the death of Sundance is not such a bad thing. Thanks! This morning the WSJ reported on the dismal outlook the independent film scene is facing. With many independent distributors out of b... more -

Bizarre Love Pentagram: "High Noon" (Episode 4)
This is a completed visual edit of a scene for my feature length directorial debut "Bizarre Love Pentagram." This was shot in Summer 2007 at Mt. Davidson in the heart of San Francisco. Sound is not complete and the music featured is not cleared. I will, however, write my own score for this scene.
The scene follows the epiphany of a confused and young absentee father, Venom, lamenting at the news of his own father's death who he hasn't seen since he was 9 years old. It's his 27th birthday and he received a video camera from his ex-girlfriend, Stella, mother of his child. He opens the camera and finds a recording of his 3 year old son.
Actor/Model: Beau Ballinger
Music: 1) Morningrunner "Oceans"; 2) Maximillian Hecker "Help Me"

Turtle Island Project: Respect for Environment, Native Americans and all Indigenou...
The Turtle Island Project in northern Michigan was founded in August 2007 by two Midwest pastors who believe the future of mankind and world is at a crossroads.
Rev. Dr. Lynn Hubbard and Rev. Dr. George Cairns believe that Christians could learn a lot about nature and the environment by listening to Earth-based cultures like Native Americans, Celts, and other Indigenous peoples.
Rev. Hubbard is a Lutheran pastor, and Rev. Cairns is an ordained United Church of Christ minister.
Both have extensive backgrounds in interfaith and multicultural work.
The Turtle Island Project (TIP), based in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, promotes respect for the environment and Native Americans.
Two Midwest pastors created the TIP to foster a national discussion and debate on a wide variety of issues involving the future of the planet and mankind including encouraging Christians to learn how to appreciate nature like Earth-based religions such as American Indians, Celts and other Indigenous peoples.
Turtle Island Project volunteer media advisor Greg Peterson has more on the founders and their goals.

Beit Al Hadad (The Al Hadad House)
These 7 minutes come from a feature length film documenting the rebuilding of a demolished house in The West Bank. This short version takes the basic argument of the longer film - that the issue in Palestine isn't only territory, but rather who controls it. It questions whether the Palestinians will get a real and a viable state or one controlled almost entirely by Israel.
The film is not about taking sides - the activists we see are mostly Israelis who have gone to see for themselves what life is like for the Palestinians living sometimes only 15 minutes from their door. Having seen an injustice, they wanted to do something to help. It is not simply a matter of Israelis bad/Palestinians good or vice versa.
It is difficult to cut 71 minutes down to 7 but I hope this short film will spark a bit of interest in the themes it touches on and develope a curiosity to know more.
