    • Floyd Mayweather retires and calls off De La Hoya fight!

Floyd Mayweather Jr is the biggest star the sport of boxing has had in quite some time. His unparalleled abilities in the ring, coupled with his presence outside of the ring, have made the undefeated champion a financial force to be reckoned with. Not to mention that he's held world titles in five different weight classes and you have a fighter who has been on top of the world. Sadly, all things must come to an end as Mayweather has officially retired from the spot of boxing and will leave his huge Sept 20th payday with Oscar De La Hoya blowing in the wind.

Below is the letter that Mayweather sent to the media announcing his retirement.

    • Mayweather Causes Hysterics At Wrestlemania Conference

With the biggest event of the year, Wrestlemania, on the horizon, the WWE held it’s final press conference at the Hard Rock Café in New York City’s Time Square. The line stretched down a city block for fans clamoring to see WWE Chairman Vince McMahon, WWE EVP Shane McMahon. WWE Champion Randy Orton, World Heavyweight Champion Edge, Triple H, WWE superstars and Playboy cover models Maria and Ashley and the host of the event Jonathan Coachman. The hordes of media were awaiting, however, the participants of the David and Goliatah’esque battle that pits the best boxer in the world today - Floyd "Money" Mayweather and the biggest athlete (7 foot tall, 400 pounds) in sports, The Big Show.

    • Boxing champ Floyd Mayweather accepts Big Show's challenge for WWE match

The WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather has agreed to take on Paul "The Big Show" Wight in a WWE match during Monday's episode of RAW.

Floyd is 5'8'' and Big Show is 7'2'' and weighs 400 pounds. That is gonna be an interesting match.

The back story is as follows: " The storyline for the match began at Sunday night’s WWE Pay Per View, No Way Out, when The Big Show attacked WWE Superstar Rey Mysterio Jr.

Mayweather, a Mysterio fan, was in the audience and decided he had seen enough and confronted the Big Show. The Big Show shoved Mayweather, who responded with a series of stiff shots (read: closed fist punches) to the wrestler’s face, giving him a bloody nose."

Now Big Show wants a show down.

So is it going to be real fighting or fake fighting?

    • Hatton and Mayweather: Round Two?

Perhaps a stickler for punishment, Ricky Hatton is already considering a rematch with the Floyd Mayweather.

Hatton who jokingly described Mayweather's victory as a 'fluke' suffered a "10th-round knockout to the WBC welterweight champion" at last weekend's bout in Las Vegas.

Hatton told Sky Sports News: "My best attribute is that I am fearless."

    • Hatton: Mayweather wants to make me his b**ch

Before Sunday’s defeat by Mayweather, Ricky Hatton sat down to have a little chat with ShortList magazine.

When asked “what’s the oddest thing that’s been said to you by another fighter”, Hatton told the mag, At a recent press conference, Floyd Mayweather “looked at me and said: I’m gonna whup you’re ass, I’m gonna kick your butt.” Then he turned around and said: “I wish I was in prison with you, so I could f**k you”.”

Erm... ok sooooo, I don’t watch much boxing so you’ll have to help me out here. Is this like, er, standard pre-fight intimidation, cause, well, it’s kinda odd.

Apologies, I'm unable to find link to the interview on ShortList.com.

    • Hatton's Girl KOs Her Job

Jennifer Dooley (pictured here with Wayne Rooney's better half Coleen McLoughlin) has shown commitment where it's due, by quitting her job after bosses at Manchester College of Art & Technology refused to let her take time off to see her boyfriend, Ricky Hatton, knock nine bells out of Floyd Mayweather in Las Vegas this weekend.

Jenifer, supposedly, left a note for her Business students explaining her reasons for quitting whilst wishing them all the best of luck for the future.

Good on ya' girl, if my other half stood to win as much as Hatton does, I'd there with bells on!

    • Ding, Ding Round One...

Well almost, Ricky Hatton and Floyd Mayweather's pre-match media conference turned into a petty scuffle with them having to be pulled apart by onlookers.

Hatton reported that when he lent on Mayweather he was, unsurprisingly hostile, warning 'Don't touch me', but in true British style Hatton gestured 'You're Dead' with a lovely smile.

I can't wait for the fight, Hatton's sure to give him a good run for his money, and most importantly his belt!

    • Will Hatton win it hands down?

It seems that Floyd Mayweather is already planning his excuses for his fight against Ricky 'Hitman' Hatton in their Las Vegas showdown this weekend. Hatton is quoted as saying that should the fight go his way then he will be disappointed if Floyd Mayweather uses excuses to try and dent Hatton stripping of him of his WBC World Welterweight title.

Mayweather has already been publicising his hands are a problem and that they were responsible for his only ever knockdown by Carlos Hernandez, but as Hatton himself says "if you'd got an injury you'd want to hide the fact - so why is he telling everyone?'

Does it sound like Mayweather is getting a little worried about the 'Hitman' coming to Vegas?

    • HBO's 24/7 Mayweather vs Hatton

If you want to love boxing, this is the show for you. Having watched the 24/7 Mayweather vs De La Hoya I can whole-heartedly recommend this show to anyone who wants to see great sports television. The 24/7 series is a documentarian style series that takes you inside the camps of both fighters as well as showing both of their personal lives. On one side is Floyd Mayweater, showboat, premodonna, flashy, American, etc. On the other side is Hatton, man of the people, no jewlry, undefeated, British, etc. The drama builds as it gets closer and closer to the flight date. The first episode is over but you can catch this show every Sunday evening. until the fight which is coming up in a few weeks. Let me know what you think of this series and who you want to win the upcoming fight. If you want to love boxing, this is the show for you.
