U.S. school district to begin microchipping students
A Rhode Island school district has announced a pilot program to monitor student movements by means of radio frequency identification (RFID) chips implanted in their schoolbags.
The Middletown School District, in partnership with MAP Information Technology Corp., has launched a pilot program to implant RFID chips into the schoolbags of 80 children at the Aquidneck School. Each chip would be programmed with a student identification number, and would be read by an external device installed in one of two school buses. The buses would also be fitted with global positioning system (GPS) devices.
Parents or school officials could log onto a school web site to see whether and when specific children had entered or exited which bus, and to look up the bus’s current location as provided by the GPS device.
The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) has criticized the plan as an invasion of children’s privacy and a potential risk to their safety.
"There’s absolutely no need to be tagging children," said Stephen Brown, executive director of the ACLU’s Rhode Island chapter. According to Brown, the school district should already know where its students are.
"[This program is] a solution in search of a problem," Brown said.
The school district says that its current plan is no different than other programs already in place for parents to monitor their children’s school experience. For example, parents can already check on their children’s attendance records and what they have for lunch, said district Superintendent Rosemary Kraeger.
Brown disputed this argument. The school is perfectly entitled to track its buses, he said, but "it’s a quantitative leap to monitor children themselves." He raised the question of whether unauthorized individuals could use easily available RFID readers to find out students’ private information and monitor their movements.
Because the pilot program is being provided to the school district at no cost, it did not require approval from the Rhode Island ethics commission.

$1M for straphanger (standing subway/bus rider) whacked by cop
The city agreed Monday to pay $1 million to a Brooklyn straphanger who was walloped in the face with a cop's nightstick after being ejected from a No. 2 train, the Daily News has learned.
Mitchi Cunningham, 24, underwent neurosurgery to relieve swelling inside his skull and suffered permanent loss of his sense of smell as a result of the clubbing, according to court documents and his attorney, Fred Lichtmacher.
"He was hit in the face with a baton for asking the officer for his shield number," Lichtmacher said. The city agreed Monday to pay $1 million to a Brooklyn straphanger who was walloped in the face with a cop's nightstick after bei... more -
Lawsuit Challenges NYPD Stop-And-Frisk Policy
A civil liberties group filed a lawsuit Wednesday challenging the NYPD's practice of stopping hundreds of thousands of people each year for questioning, saying it is racially biased.
The New York Civil Liberties Union lawsuit lists New York Post reporter Leonardo Blair as the sole plaintiff, saying he was stopped and frisked by police officers as he walked from his car to his Bronx home last November.
He was taken to a police station, where officers expressed surprise that though he was black, he was not from "the projects," the lawsuit said. Blair, 28, has a master's degree from Columbia University.
The lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court in Manhattan said the NYPD has stopped people in New York nearly 1 million times over the last two years. It said more than half of the people targeted were black, and some 90 percent were either black or Latino. A Patriot's Act
In the midst of a mid-morning rush
a middle manager shreds lettuce
for her ceasar salad
simotaneously selling shares of stock
from her sprint phone.
Seemingly never tongue-tied
yet tettering betwixed business boon
and bankruptcy.
In her haste and high heels headed
for a fall foward, only to keep her feet.
In the next moment she wretched back,
sure to lose them.
She was not all whole.
As her face flushed the flip phone
fell to the floor,
muffle-mouthed gargles interpret
into garbled screams.
Mascara runs in the same fashion
as the crimson tear-dropped from
her lips,
remaniscent of cult classic vamps.
This was no faux Fangoria,
her essence spurted onto the
deathbed of lettuce.
Overlooking her liberties the lady
jumps at the site of her severed tongue.
Her eyes widen as if some grizzly mystery
exposed a betrayl of her senses,
while the tongue wriggled and salivated
in caesar salad dressing
flopping,
whrithing in a whisper,
"Et tu, Brute?"
She was searching.
A call to action, a call to arms.
A call to 911.
Her impending doom towered over,
but she knew there were those
to answer the call of duty.
Those who would come to mend her
in the face of death.
Such deep dependence,
undoubtedly the death of one death
brings a dual demise.
Several sadistics surely would take
satisfaction in the subtraction.
Yet swiftly slice off her salary
due to her silenced state.
Satanic swines believe workman's comp
is a backstabbing competition.
However, she collects herself,
calm cool and comtemplative.
Full of pride her head held high
and waited.
Holding back the plasma,
her lips a levy.
How long before the jawline
cracks the body of Katrina?
She wasn't phazed,
In her afghan she stands,
Closed eye, racked with pain,
as if her very culture bleeds.
She is still trying to hold back the blood,
dripping and pooling.
Desperate to be mended,
to be liberated by the savior of her free speech.
She is still waiting.

Loss of Liberty
'Loss of Liberty' dramatically proves, beyond any doubt, that the attack by Israel on June 8, 1967 against the US naval intelligence gathering ship USS Liberty, in which 34 Americans were killed and 171 wounded, was deliberate. The video first lets Israeli officers make their totally unconvincing case that the attack was a 'tragic accident' when the Israelis mistook the much larger and differently configured USS Liberty for the totally unlike Egyptian ship El Quseir.
This filmed testimony by dozens of USS Liberty survivors demolishes Israels 'tragic accident' claim. Former Secretary of State Dean Rusk and former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral Thomas Moorer are representative of the honored high-ranking Americans supporting the condemnation of deliberate aggression against the United States by 'ally' Israel.
'Loss of Liberty' makes clear that then-President Lyndon Johnson conspired with Israel and its Israel-First supporters inside the US government to support the 'tragic accident' scheme. Johnson was bogged down at the time in the Vietnam war, and thought he needed Israel Lobby support. Still, Johnsons behaviour is as unforgivable now as it was then.
