    • Another call to save the Constitution by Dennis Kucinich!

Congressman Dennis Kucinich laid out the case for impeachment at a meeting with the Progressive Democrats of America in Denver on Thursday, August 29.

I realize the emphasis news wise, politically speaking, is on who is running for president. This speech posted today is about the constitution and our human rights, not about who you should vote for.

If you have three minutes, please give a listen - its a very heart felt speech and different than the other he gave the other day at the DNC.

    • There Is No Fourth Amendment

FOURTH AMENDMENT [U.S. Constitution] - 'The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.'

"Skull and Bones member, war criminal and traitor George W. Bush recently signed HR 6304 or the FISA Amendments Act of 2008 into law that effectively makes the Fourth Amendment null and void. The new law disregards the protections guaranteed in the Fourth Amendment and allows the government to spy on people without a warrant so long as the government reasonably believes that they are gathering information on somebody from a foreign country.

The government can reasonably believe whatever they want and not have to provide probable cause supported by an oath or affirmation to obtain a warrant before they engage in spying activities. It gives them a blank check to spy on whoever they please. It also eliminates any sort of oversight in the intelligence gathering process, and this is a dangerous proposition.

The law also gives immunity to telecommunication companies from lawsuits pertaining to their prior cooperation in the unlawful spying programs implemented by the government. As expected, Bush and the supporters of this newly passed law are using the bogus excuse of the war on terror to undermine civil liberties. The terror war as has been documented time and time again is a fraud designed to setup a police state, justify illegal foreign wars and destroy the rule of law. The only reason there has been such a hurry to get this legislation passed into law is so Bush’s buddies in these Fortune 100 companies won’t get sued over their felonious activity."

    • 'Free speech zones' to make comeback Denver Democratic Convention

And you thought it was just Republicans that wanted to stifle free speech.

"The infamous "free speech zone," set to make a comeback at Denver's upcoming Democratic National Convention, needs to be within earshot of delegates, a coalition of civil liberties advocates backed by the ACLU said Monday.

Chain link fencing or chicken wire at the end of the parade route, about 700 feet away from the Pepsi Center under the current plan, would separate demonstrators and protesters from other convention attendees, the Rocky Mountain News reported. The coalition have amended their pending lawsuit against the United States Secret Service and the City and County of Denver, filed in May, saying that the plan could violate the visitors' First Amendment rights, echoing the corralling and effective silencing of protesters at the 2004 gala in Boston. A judge in that case had ruled the "free speech zones" unconstitutional, but said that the suit was filed too late to order that plans be changed.

"No human voice, or any other sound," ACLU counsel said in Monday's amended complaint, "can ever hope to reach a person at the entrance."

The case will go to trial on July 29.

Preparations for the upcoming convention, for which Denver has been federally granted $50 million, may include military choppers, as seen during a mid-June Department of Justice drill, details of which could not be revealed by the Denver Police Department. Lt. Nathan Potter, a military spokesperson with Special Operations Command, called the exercise "routine preparation for the global war on terrorism."

Denver Sheriff division chief Marie Kielar also told Colorado Confidential in May that her department is preparing for convention-related arrests to top 1,200. The City and County of Denver will not make publicly available detention plans, such as where those arrested will be held, before the convention. In addition to the May suit, the ACLU has demanded that the City and County make publicly available the procedures it plans to follow in processing those arrested at its downtown jail.

The Monday complaint called not only for a protest zone closer to the Pepsi Center, but also that it large enough to host all demonstrators, and for searches to be conducted only when there is probable cause.

"Simply put, we are going to abide by the Constitution," Denver city attorney David Fine said Monday.

    • Presidential Candidates Must Call On Rice To Resign

Ask Senators Clinton, McCain and Obama to join us in calling on Secretary of State Rice to resign. She sat in on torture meetings and then misled Congress. She is not fit to be Secretary of State of this country. I simply cannot believe Obama and Clinton voted to confirm her.
It is time for these candidates to start talking about REAL issues instead of going back and forth with each other with bs ads about who is "biiter." People in this government are committing crimes against our Constitution. THEY need to take a stand now, and if they can't do it now how can we trust them to do it any other time?

    • Justice Department Launches Web Site to Attack “Media Shield” Bill

The Justice Department has set up a web page at this link http://www.usdoj.gov/opa/media-shield.htm

were “the Bush administration has outlined its concerns with proposed media shield legislation. This page provides letters, testimony, public statements and views from officials throughout the government expressing their concerns with the proposed media shield legislation.” This was quoted from the Department of Justice’s web page.

Problem: This is a taxpayer funded Department of Justice web page that the Bush administration is using to quash S.2035, the Free Flow of Information Act of 2007, aka, the Media Shield Law.

A quote from the Society for Professional Journalists http://www.spj.org/

"A federal shield law has become essential now that prosecutors appear less constrained about hauling journalists before courts and grand juries," said SPJ President Irwin Gratz, a radio news anchor with the Maine Public Broadcasting Network. "Courts are proving little help either, setting aside the partial protections recognized by the U.S. Supreme Court in its Branzburg v. Hayes ruling."

    • McClellan's Dish: Impeachment Is Back On The Table

Why isn't this on every front page in this country? Why is it not the focus of every news show in this country? This is an admission of treason and if this is not reason enough to impeach both Bush and Cheney then I don't know what is. How can Congress just sit on their hands and do nothing? What will we tell our children when they ask us why we did nothing? What will we then tell them when this happens again? Because unless we stand up to this now, it will happen again and we will have no one to blame but ourselves. I truly am stunned this hasn't gotten more airplay. McClellan could well be Bush's Dean (Referring to John Dean whose testimony broke open Watergate,) and people sit worrying more about where to shop on Black Friday than the actions of those who have done nothing but usurp our government with the help of a corporate mainstream media keeping this hidden. It will be up to stations like Current and the Internet to take up the mantle and I hope they do. What has happened to this country? Are people simply afraid to speak out, or is that just an excuse to cover up that in reality people on the whole are just too contented and lazy to care? Some things are more important than fear, and this damn well is one of them.///////From the link:///// "The most powerful leader in the world had called upon me to speak on his behalf and help restore credibility he lost amid the failure to find weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. So I stood at the White House briefing room podium in front of the glare of the klieg lights for the better part of two weeks and publicly exonerated two of the senior-most aides in the White House: Karl Rove and Scooter Libby.../////There was one problem. It was not true.///// I had unknowingly passed along false information. And five of the highest ranking officials in the administration were involved in my doing so: Rove, Libby, the Vice President, the President's chief of staff, and the President himself./////
