In case your wondering why Solar Technology isn't being "mass installed" at the "house" "homes" level, is because the Senate is thwarting companies like Akeena to go under, by not providing any tax rebate incentives, which ultimately is a step BACKWARDS in promoting Solar.
Agree? Disagree?
It's all about big contracts to First Solar Inc that matter to the Senate.
Imagine how many jobs will be created if smaller companies are allowed to flourish.
This is rediculious the more you look into it...

Review the story, and tell why the Senate is NOT agreeing to Solar Tax Credits when our Environment, let alone, our economy needs it MOST!
Good Friggen Grief - the article states:
"tens of thousands of jobs and billions of dollars will be lost in new solar investment."
Armed with this info, your President Vote matters, and hopefully he can sway the Senate by whatever means...

New VisionAire technology from Obscura

"Here is the latest. Alright, alright, it is not really "multi-touch", because you really don't touch anything. The system just senses where the presenters hands are and allow him to interact. Multiple people could be doing this too.
We call it VisionAire. Get it, "vision" and "air" with a little European flair. Basically, we were looking for a new way to allow a presenter to interface with visual data. This uses our standard multi-touch framework and integrates it with the Musion system we have in house. The result is a truly interactive way to give presentations."
The creative cats and kittens at Obscura Digital have put together a stunning piece of performance art / data manipulation demo which combines their proprietary multi-touch software with Musion's Eyeliner 3D holographic projection system. Like that BMW installation we saw recently, this is one of those odd combinations of technology and art which is best seen in action rather than described -- so check out the video and see the work in all its mind-bending glory.

Obama proposes tapping oil stockpiles
Thats a great idea if you consider continuing to use Oil for energy consumption in any form.
I just thought of something today - what if OPEC decides to Lower gas prices - what the effects would be:
1. Continued use of cars that use gas - no incentive to chose alternate forms of energy.
2. Continued increase in Global Warming
3. OPEC remains in charge of oil
Economically speaking Obama makes sense, Global Warming speaking it doesn't make sense - I thought Obama was into reducing global emissions?
I say, Obama - Let's build 50 Solar Towers one in each state for starters, opposed to what McCain suggested - 45 Nuke power plants and more to follow, while seeking alternate forms of energy from the sun, wind, and water, OPEC can do what ever it wants with oil prices, and it will not effect us concerning energy consumption.
Sometimes I wish I was President, then again, I would most likely be assassinated for my efforts and opinions.

Car powered by air
Its a heck of an ugly car on the outside. Beautiful on the inside though as this car runs on air with Zero emmisions. Get your electricity to compress the air from a green supplier and this car could also be beautifying the environment, accept for when your looking at it.
Hopefully though, in time they will give it a makeover as they perfect the engine that runs on air

Towers of power - imagine - deserts saving the planet - what a concept
Although this link is from 2006, it's 2008, and from what I gather this seems to be the most efficient and least effecting source of solar power thus far. So why isn't this idea spreading and being implemented world wide the past 2 years? Your guess is as good as mine. Surely there are a few close contenders and ideas just like this and others, but this is truly the epiphany of all solar stations. There are plenty of deserts with hardly any life, than can truly save the planet.
IMAGINE THIS - DESERTS SAVING THE PLANET!! WHAT A CONCEPT.

This is the Holy Grail of renewable energy.
After researching different models of solar power, this one seems to have the least amount of impact - just glass, cement it appears, and . Ocean wind farms are also another one, since it will not effect most wildlife.
The Tower or Field that produces renewable energy will definitely be the wave of Nature's resources we can use for infinitum.

Top 10 emerging environmental technologies
Here are some fun and interesting ideas in total summation of what we have been hearing and seeing the past few years. These are all interesting ideas, the hard part is, making them happen. All though I do not believe in all of them, there is a combonatorial usage requirement, i.e., not one new technology will save the planet but a plethora of new techniques should be used.
Now just to get the backing and momentum to implement them world wide.

Kyoto Protocol - Time marches on....
Time marches on..... 1997 is over 10 years ago when the issue of Climate Control reached higher than normal levels of recognition and awareness world wide. Al Gore mentions the treaty in this link. Moreover, by the time people make a decision to act, it will possibly be too late. I do not know about you, but I have another 50 years to live, and my child as well as your children needs a world that is inhabitable, not a wasteland...

YouTube - Solar Tower Energy
I like the idea of planets underneath the solar sheeting. Inventive to say the least. 200 megwatts!!! Seems like the wildlife can flourish with minimal impact. Simplistic idea. I support these types of systems that minimize impact the environment and promote renewable energies. njoy :0)

SoCal Edison wants to cover California rooftops with solar panels
Here is a link specifying Southern California Edison as a leader and trend setter. @ 250 mega watts is also a viable solution to other solar power technologies such as Towers of Power and solar fields popping up all over the deserts. The only draw back I see is the ecology of the proposed area, and local wildlife inhabitants. This would require more research, but this idea here, roof top solar panels was a brief solution in the 70's here in Edison country, but on a grand scale, I foresee the only issue is that UFO (aliens pilots) will have to wear sunglasses due to a glare being produced by a solarized planet. ( PS. that last part was a joke )

Abengoa solar : Solar power for a sustainable world
Here is a link to the famous 1st Tower of Power solar electricity plant in Sevilla, Spain.
This link shows some good close up non cgi screen shots of how a Solar Power Plant is designed - Ariel/Ground View Point. You can look find definitions of how much power this plant will produce compared to other forms of energy plants in use today - nuclear vs solar vs water vs whatever can also be found on the net.
Keep in mind that this plant runs 24/7, and has no emissions, or risk of disaster effecting neighboring cities.
