OBAMA TRIED TO STALL GIS' IRAQ WITHDRAWAL
WHILE campaigning in public for a speedy withdrawal of US troops from Iraq, Sen. Barack Obama has tried in private to persuade Iraqi leaders to delay an agreement on a draw-down of the American military presence.
According to Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari, Obama made his demand for delay a key theme of his discussions with Iraqi leaders in Baghdad in July.
"He asked why we were not prepared to delay an agreement until after the US elections and the formation of a new administration in Washington," Zebari said in an interview.
Obama insisted that Congress should be involved in negotiations on the status of US troops - and that it was in the interests of both sides not to have an agreement negotiated by the Bush administration in its "state of weakness and political confusion."

Who’s the Ass Rapist?
"Which hunk in a summer movie is a violent, closeted homosexual? The heartthrob snuck into his ex's apartment a few months ago and raped him so violently, the ex ended up in the hospital - and the actor paid him $500,000 to keep his mouth shut."
Now, if the Post is printing this, isn't it saying that it has good information about a brutal rape that's gone unpunished—information it's keeping secret in order to drive up Web traffic and sell papers? And if it's not saying that, isn't it instead saying it will print unfounded bullshit just as long as it's alarming and salacious? New lows every day, people! NY State trooper caught issuing "revenge" tickets
A state trooper took road rage to a whole new level - writing up five phony traffic tickets to a Brooklyn man as payback after getting into a heated argument with him over a parking spot, authorities said yesterday.
Lester Hooper, 35, wrote the summonses - alleging traffic violations in three Westchester towns from Jan. 28 to Feb. 6 - without ever pulling over Derrick Perry, according to the Westchester County DA's Office.
The sham tickets , featuring Perry's name and license-plate number, were issued in retribution for a parking beef in Brooklyn, officials said.
The State Police Internal Affairs Bureau gave no details of the Jan. 26 quarrel - but Hooper's lawyer, Pat Bonanno, would only say it involved "offensive" contact between Perry and Hooper's wife...
... Hooper, a three-year State Police veteran based in Tarrytown with the task of patrolling Interstates 87, 95 and 287, has been suspended without pay.

The Steroid Era, Is the media partly responsible? maybe wholly?
When TV sold its soul to look the other way when McGwire cranked them out of the park hordes of bandwagonners into the park, in front of the TV, when Fox had to resort to gimicks to please those new bandwagon jumpers, when hordes more were seduced by Barry to join in the seduction of an unnatural gluttony of splash landings, should the media who desperately pounced on those stories like lions on a 600 ton zebra (zebras don't grow to be 600 tons unless someone juiced those zebras) be held responsible for cheapening the game?
Did the media have a stake in avoiding the topic in fear of scaring fans away from their coverage of the game, the "Scooter," "Catcher cam," "who Jeter and A-Rod are nailing stories," "Rafael Palmeiro's Viagra?"
This same pack of lions ready to pounce whenever A-Rod is caught eating a sandwich with no mustard on it, are they to blame for what the game has become?
The daughter of a former World Series hero weighs in on the topic. When TV sold its soul to look the other way when McGwire cranked them out of the park hordes of bandwagonners into the park, in front ... more -
Lindsay's Beau Behaving Badly?
Could divergent sleep patterns signal doom for Lindsay Lohan and her snowboarder beau Riley Giles, whom she met during her last stint in rehab? That's the word from the New York Post, which claims the 12-stepping twosome maintained very different schedules while visiting LiLo's function-challenged, Long Island-based family over Thanksgiving.
Riley, it seems, was eager to test out that whole "city that never sleeps" thing, leading him to snooze late, while the leggings- and bronzer-addicted starlet preferred daytime shopping trips with her mom, little sister and the paparazzi.
"Riley was not very well behaved when he came back to New York with Lindsay," a snitch snipes to the paper. "He was out every night without her, and I'm not sure how much longer that relationship is going to last."
But is Giles having his own doubts about the longevity of their love? So says the Chicago Sun-Times, which claims he's confided to pals that he's unsure if their couple-y status "will last through Christmas."
Purported problems include Riley being "overwhelmed" by Lindsay's deeply flawed family dynamic and his uncertainty over whether his famous flame "truly is 'the one.'
