    • Virtual pole dancing coming to the Nintendo Wii?

"There must be a God after all. Peekaboo Entertainment—creators of the Carmen-Electra-endorsed "Electra-Pole" home pole dancing kit—is reportedly planning to take their expertise to the Nintendo Wii. Adding another interesting dimension to the Wii's role as a fitness machine, the proposed pole dancing title could further ensure that men spend all day playing, or now watching, video games.Unfortunately the game will not included Carmen Elektra herself, who will remain relegated to Electra-Pole box covers filling Spencer Gifts around the nation. "Men and women of all shapes and sizes will be encouraged to work on improving their skills, with the firm focus on fun and fitness as per the core brand values of Nintendo Wii," says Peekaboo. Hmm, I’m guessing most men will stay on the sidelines for this one." "There must be a God after all. • Pole dancer's underground act

Police in Bucharest are looking for a busking pole dancer who performs her routines on the city's underground railway.

Passengers described the dancer, photographed by a passenger's mobile phone, as a "well-dressed, attractive, student-like young woman".

She apparently performs her routines only when the train is travelling between further apart subway stations in the Romanian capital.

Her modus operandi is to play Tom Jones's You Can Leave Your Hat On on a portable CD player while taking off her clothes and dancing around a pole.

She then puts her clothes back on and passes around a container for passengers to show their appreciation for her efforts.

One passenger, George Stancu, who witnessed the act, said: "I can't say I didn't like the show but I found it unusual. There are lots of kids who travel by underground and I just don't think it's proper."

A police spokesman said the woman faced charges and a fine for indecent exposure and public begging if she is caught in the act.

However, officers are struggling to arrest her as she seems to perform only on trains with no guards or CCTV cameras.

    • Pole dancing set to go Wii

I wonder if this game will be seen in the same inappropriate light that GTA IV has been suffering. WIll it be rated 18+? Who knows?

My other question is that with actual pole-dancing classes on offer for real, why the hell would you bother trying to do it with a Nintendo controller in your hand?

Basically, Peekaboo, the company behind Carmen Electra's wildly successful pole-dancing exercise videos, is in search of a games developer to help bring the "fitness" benefits to nintendo Wii users.

      Whatever ...

    • Fury as Mayfair GP tries to open pole-dance club

A family doctor who lives in London's exclusive Mayfair has sparked hundreds of protests by trying to open an all-night lap-dancing club.

Dr Imtiaz Sardar, 61, is behind the plan for scantily dressed women to perform for customers at the "adult entertainment" venue.

Companies House documents reveal that Timzia, the firm bidding to run the club at the Archway Tavern in Islington, North London, is owned by Dr Sardar, his wife Talat – a doctor at the same practice – and two of their relatives.

The documents also show that the business address of Timzia – an anagram of Dr Sardar's first name – is the same as that of his surgery in affluent Crouch End, also North London.
Now NHS chiefs are investigating the doctors' involvement.

Under plans submitted to Islington Council, dancing and drinking would take place from 9am to 5am, with customers charged an extra £20 for a "sensual" table-side performance.

    • Diablo Cody - Climbing the Stripper Pole to Stardom

If you are a fan of the indie version of the human drama, it would be tough to top the one about the plucky Midwestern girl who used a stripper pole to shimmy her way up and out of a drab office cubicle and grab her piece of the Hollywood dream.

A few years ago, Brook Busey-Hunt was typing copy at a Minneapolis advertising agency and walked by the Skyway Lounge, a skeevy strip bar where desiccated women grind out a living a dollar at a time. Good Catholic girl that she was, Busey-Hunt saw an ad for amateur night and had a naughty epiphany. And the rest is, well, a stage name, a blog, a book and a screenwriting career.

Now named Diablo Cody, she wrote a screenplay that became "Juno," a film directed by Jason Reitman set for release in the United States and parts of Europe and Latin America throughout the winter. The story of a maniacally verbal 16-year-old girl who becomes pregnant and decides to give the baby to a childless couple, "Juno" is on most every short list for an Oscar for original screenplay.

Sitting recently at the Rainbow, a restaurant on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles draped in rock history, Cody, 29, did not pretend that her life was anything other than a fairy tale, albeit one where the role of the glass slippers is played by a pair of stripper's stilettos.

"You make this really unexpected, half-cocked decision and all of a sudden it creates this weird energy that turns into something else," she said during lunch. A self-described geek who had led a very insular life, she said that getting naked for strangers was her version of self-improvement, a way of transgressing her upbringing and opening up other doors. Unlike many strippers, Cody is a crisscross of tattoos and post-punk fashion, sort of Suicide Girl meets Riot Grrrl.

      YES! I love her!
