    • GM unveils Volt on company's 100th anniversary

"The Volt is due in showrooms by November of 2010." GM's Lutz said in an interview that the car won't be ready sooner because of the complexity in building an entirely new powertrain

"GM said the Volt will cost about 80 cents to fully charge at a rate of 10 cents per kilowatt-hour, which is about the national average. After that, the batteries will be recharged by a small gasoline engine that allows the car to travel hundreds more miles. GM said the engine will be able to run on E85 ethanol, a blend of 85 percent ethanol and 15 percent gasoline."

The Volt sounds pretty good .....I want one now!

    • Toyota to build Prius in US, stops truck production

"The company said Thursday it will start producing the Prius in 2010 at a plant it is building in Blue Springs, Miss. Toyota already builds a hybrid version of the Camry sedan in Kentucky, but this will be the first time the Prius, which has been on sale for more than a decade, will be built outside of Asia." -MSNBC

Toyota is also planning on temporarily stopping US production of its trucks and large SUVs because of declining demand. The plants will either temporarily close or build hybrid SUVs instead.

This is great news both for the environment and for our economy. It will ultimately result in more jobs for Americans and strengthen the "green-collar" job market. This is evidence of our economy's shift in the right direction.

      What do you think?

    • Karma or Volt? Electric luxury supercars are here

Few years ago we pictured electric cars as feeble one seater experimental devises with bicycle wheels and a top speed of maybe 10 mph.

Not anymore, technology has gone far, really far! You do not believe me? Have a look at the two cars above.

The blue car is the Fisker Karma which is the world’s first sports luxury hybrid. It is the brain child of Henrik Fisker, the former Design Director for Aston Martin. This hybrid has a four-cylinder petrol engine in combination with lithium-ion batteries that drive an electric motor. Karma can do 60mph in 5.8 seconds and has a top speed of 125mph. It also comes with a solar panel on its roof to charge up the batteries. This car will come out of production a the end of 2009 and will have a price tag of $80,000.
