    • Dem Rep. calls for impeachment at McClellan testimony: video

After questioning former White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan during a meeting of the House Judiciary Committee Friday, a Democratic congressman called for impeachment proceedings to be initiated.

Rep. Robert Wexler (D-FL) said that he believed McClellan's testimony implicated both Vice President Dick Cheney and President George W. Bush as the only two administration sources who could have leaked the identity of former CIA covert operative Valerie Plame-Wilson.

"The president and vice president have denied ordering this illegal leak, but logic and the chain of command dictates that it must have been one of them,” said Wexler. "Mr. McClellan, in your book, you state that you cannot believe President Bush authorized the leak of Valerie Plame Wilson's status as a covert agent. ... Who does that leave us? The vice president."

"He is someone that keeps things pretty close to the vest, to say the least," replied McClellan.

    • Impeach Bush, Wexler says

We've got two! Keep the heat on your local representatives. The press will continue to say "Yawn", while the people say "Yay!"

It is our patriotic duty to call our representatives and remind them that they represent the passionate views of their constituents, not the passive detachment of the Beltway media. It is not a game, this is about our CONSTITUTION and the RULE OF LAW. It is time to call for an immediate halt to the actions of our "unitary exectutive" and remind Congress that it has an obligation to defend us against the dangers of tyranny of a powerful few (Ahem unitary executive). It is, after all, the whole reason they exist.

I don't care what the leadership says, I don't care what the pundits say, the people WILL support Impeachment! As the crimes unfold, this country will finally have a full and honest appraisal of the failures of our entire government and the fourth estate.

Impeachment, like democracy, is not the end, it is the means to protect our freedom. Call your representative today and DEMAND they stand up and assert themselves as a co-equal branch of government (and don't forget to tell everyone you know that you did so and urge them to do the same). We cannot sit this out any longer. The establishment press simply does not care.

    • Karl Rove, Inherent Contempt

"If Rove refuses to testify voluntarily and ignores the subpoenas that will certainly be issued, he should be held in Inherent Contempt of the House of Representatives.

No American is above the law. None of us should be able to ignore Congress without consequence. If Mr. Rove ignores a subpoena from the Judiciary Committee, then the House of Representatives should pass an Inherent Contempt citation and exercise our right to send the House Sergeant-of-Arms to gather Mr. Rove and bring him before Congress to testify." - Rep. Robert Wexler, D-Fl

Why are Bush and his friends untouchable???

    • What would you ask Petraeus?

Congressman Robert Wexler is going to question General Petraeus this Wednesday. Representative Wexler wants to ask OUR questions. He will be selecting two questions and I included his email below. Send him and email. And leave your question commented below cause I am also interested in what people would ask. <3 Nkeg87

"As President Bush stubbornly refuses to change course in Iraq, it grows increasingly frustrating for those of us who have been loudly demanding a withdrawal. I know you share my frustration. Every day, I receive letters and emails from patriotic Americans who want to - somehow – personally contribute to a solution.

      Now it is your turn.

Next week, General Petraeus – the architect of the failed surge policy and our chief military leader in Iraq - will be testifying before the Committee on Foreign Affairs.

For too long the Bush Administration has been in a bubble – hiding from the truth and avoiding tough questions from outraged American citizens. This time I am turning the oversight powers of Congress over to you.

I want you to be the ones asking the questions to General Petraus.

Write me back with a short reply and tell me what - specifically - you would like me to ask. Please include your first name as well as your city and state.

I will choose the best two questions and ask them to General Petraeus this Wednesday. You will be able to watch his answers directly on C-Span.

Please consider submitting a question. You already work so hard to bring accountability to this Administration and to bring our troops home from Iraq. I hope this provides you another opportunity for us to collaborate and directly influence the national dialogue.

Please keep your questions short and focused.

I look forward to your response, and thank you for participating directly in our democracy.

    • Rep. Robert Wexler's Petition to impeach Cheney

This is an email I recieved from Democrats.com. Some of you may have received the same email. In any case, there is a link here to sign a PETITION. And there is also another link for sending emails. Let's get to work!!!!

Rep. Robert Wexler (FL-19) and two other Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee - Luis Gutierrez (IL-04) and Tammy Baldwin (WI-02) - today called on the committee to begin impeachment hearings for Vice President Cheney.

They declared, "The charges are too serious to ignore. There is credible evidence that the Vice President abused the power of his office, and not only brought us into an unneccesary war but violated the civil liberties and privacy of American citizens. It is the constitutional duty of Congress to hold impeachment hearings."

The three Democrats wrote an op-ed to announce their position, but none of the nation's leading newspapers would publish it - just as they refuse to include impeachment in their polls, and just as they refuse to publish their own investigations of the crimes of the Bush Administration. Why? Because the Corporate Media is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Republican Party, as it has been since the Reagan Revolution of 1980.

So this important announcement was made on a Blogcall hosted by Democrat.com, and was covered by progressive blogs - the only news media that serves the people, not the Corporations.

You can read the full op-ed at Rep. Wexler's new site - http://wexlerwantshearings.com - where you can also watch a powerful video by Wexler.

Rep. Wexler needs to collect 50,000 signatures to convince his Democratic colleagues that the American people truly support impeachment hearings. So please sign his petition:
      http://wexlerwantshearings.com

You can also send an email to Wexler's other colleagues on Judiciary:
      http://www.democrats.com/topelosiandjudiciary

Please share this exciting news with your friends, your favorite blogs, and your favorite talk shows - including Air America Radio.
