    • Brits Win At Golden Globes

The British film Atonement was the big winner at last night?s stripped-down Golden Globes Awards, but the achievement was overshadowed by the on-going writer?s strike that has crippled Hollywood and cast serious doubt over the future of next month's Academy Awards. • Golden Globes...Special????

I love watching movies and TV sitcoms and dramas. The awards season is something I look forward to. If people think we don't need writers...THINK AGAIN! This "Special" was a perfect example on the need of writers and why they should end this strike.

I can't even look forward to any other awards show, especially the Oscars, after this fiasco.

I guess free stuff makes it a worthwhile venture. Despite there being no actual awards ceremony, celebrities still come out in full force to grab goodies, and get photographed in the process. • Golden Globes ceremony scrapped

The Golden Globes ceremony has been cancelled and replaced with a news conference because of the strike by writers over royalties.

The winners will now be revealed at an hour-long press conference replacing the usual dinner and ceremony.

Actors had said they would not cross picket lines in support of writers.

The Writers Guild of America (WGA) has been on strike since November over "residuals" - royalties for work distributed online or on DVD.

The dispute has brought to a standstill the production of nearly all TV comedy and drama shows.

    • SAG Actors Won't Attend the Globes

In a move of solidarity for the writers, all Screen Actors Guild members have agreed not to appear at the Golden Globes this year.

After canvassing nominees over the past several weeks, Screen Actors Guild President Alan Rosenberg said in a statement, ''there appears to be unanimous agreement that these actors will not cross'' the picket lines to present or accept an award.

The statement also urged members to appear on ?The Late Show with David Letterman? and ?Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson,? the two late-night shows that have struck deals with the writers guild. As for the other shows: ?Actors who are asked to appear on the struck network talk shows will have to cross WGA picket lines, creating the same situation that has led to the consensus among actors to skip the Golden Globes,? Mr. Rosenberg wrote.

    • Superbad: The funniest movie of the year...

Superbad was the best comedy of 2007. So, where is the nomination?
Like the 40 yr old virgin this film was not only atop teens and college kids 'best of' lists, it was atop those of movie critics throughout the country...so, why the snub? could it be the 180+ swears? the gross sexuality? what?

    • How can Steve Carell be nominated and not 'the Office'?

I love Steve Carell and he certainly deserves a nomination for Best Actor in a Comedy series because, well because he IS 'the Office'. That being said, how can one be nominated without the other? It's like nominating Hugh Laurie and Ricky Gervais without nominating House or Extras..they are the show so you must nominate both!

Since 'House' first premiered it has been a perennial favorite to win the best tv series: drama golden globe. This year however there's a new show that I think may give 'House' a run for it's money...and that show is 'Mad Men'.

    • Are Award Shows in Danger due to the WGA Strike???

All year I wait for the Academy Awards (and the Globes too, I guess) with eager anticipation. But this year might be different.

Award shows also need writers. We all know these ceremonies can be boring without a good laugh every five to ten minutes or so. With the writer's strike going on, writing waivers from both the Hollywood Foreign Press and the Academy of Motion Pictures and Sciences have been rejected.

This is really getting messy...and it just got messier...
