Ne-Yo Awarded Over $700,000 In R. Kelly Tour Suit | Hip Hop News > HipHopDX.com
Earlier this year, Ne-Yo [click to read] and his management sued R. Kelly’s promoter, Rowe Entertainment, for a breach of contract that sent Ne-Yo off of the Double Up Tour.
Guaranteed close to $785,000, Ne-Yo only performed twice before being sent off the 25 date tour. Besides the lawsuit, Ne-Yo contested that he was kicked off because his performance was “outshining” R. Kelly’s, who was the headliner.

Man, fuck R. Kelly.
I've been on my anti-Kels tip for a while, now. Much of it, naturally, was based on his entire court case. Urinating on underage girls isn't a good look, and then blaming your brother for it in the meanwhile is even worse. I'm not saying I'm the most morally sound person, ‘cause I've done my share of things I regret, but certain shit you just don't do © Mos Def. The case's results from a month or so made me hate him even more: the fact that he could actually postpone that case for five years and get acquitted got me pissed (no pun intended) not only about how shady he was, but at the justice system in general. i.e., Somebody who wasn't a wealthy, multiplatinum-selling R&B superstar wouldn't have been able to postpone his case for five years to desensitize everyone involved, gather extra evidence for their case and get off of the hook Starting then, I made another vow to further boycott R. Kelly's music.

After all the controversy, fanfare and drama, a Chicago jury has acquitted R. Kelly of all his child pornography charges.

R. Kelly acquitted on all charges!
It took six years to get to trial, but a jury has reached a verdict in R&B singer R. Kelly's child pornography case after less than a day of deliberations.
R. Kelly is accused of making a home sex video with an underage girl at his child pornography trial.
1 of 2 Judge Vincent Gaughan is scheduled to read the verdict later Friday afternoon.
The jury of nine men and three women includes the wife of a Baptist preacher from Kelly's Chicago-area hometown, as well as a compliance officer for a Chicago investment firm and a man in his 60s who emigrated from then-Communist Romania nearly 40 years ago.
As they left the courtroom to deliberate, jurors took the sex tape at the center of the trial with them, and a monitor was set up in the jury room in case they wanted to review it.
Kelly is charged with 14 counts of videotaping himself having sex with an underage girl, who prosecutors say was as young as 13. If convicted, he faces up to 15 years in prison. He would also have to register as a sex offender in Illinois.
The 41-year-old superstar, who has pleaded not guilty, was charged in 2002. His trial was repeatedly delayed, once because the judge seriously injured himself falling off a ladder and another time because Kelly had emergency surgery to remove his appendix.
Jurors deliberated for three hours Thursday after listening to closing arguments.
Kelly's attorney banged on the jury box with his fist, he yelled and he whispered, he laughed and he pleaded for more than in hour in his emotion-filled closing.
At one point, Sam Adam Jr. referred to a defense argument made repeatedly during the trial that a mole on the singer's back proved he simply can't be the man in the video.
Adam walked over to the defense table and placed his hand on Kelly's shoulder.
"The truth be told, there is no mole ... that means one thing," Adam told jurors, then paused and lowered his voice. "It ain't him. And if it ain't him, you can't convict."

CHICAGO (AP) — The jury in the R. Kelly child pornography case has informed the judge that it's reached a verdict after less than a day of deliberations. Judge Vincent Gaughan is scheduled to read the verdict this afternoon.
Kelly is charged with 14 counts of videotaping himself having sex with an underage girl, who prosecutors say was as young as 13. If convicted, he faces a minimum of four years in prison and a maximum of 15 years. He would also have to register as a sex offender in Illinois.
The jurors — nine men and three women — were given the case Thursday afternoon after attorneys for both sides completed their closing arguments.

Jury selection got under way in the R Kelly case Friday, but the media was barred from entering the courtroom - a mistake law-enforcement officials blamed on "first-day jitters". At 11:30am, about 150 prospective jurors were ushered into the courtroom, where the R&B superstar waited for them at the defense table. A judge in Cook County is threatening the self-proclaimed "King of R&B" with jail time in his Child Pornography trial.
R Kelly has plead not guilty to charges that he videotaped himself performing sexual acts with a fourteen year old.
