    • Lone accountant takes on IRS and wins

WASHINGTON — It took seven years, but Charles Ulrich did something many people dream about, but few succeed at: He beat the IRS in a tax dispute.
Not only that, but tax experts say potentially millions of other taxpayers could benefit from his victory.
The accountant from Baxter, Minn., challenged the method the IRS has used for more than 20 years to tax shares and cash distributed by mutual life insurance firms to their policyholders when they reorganize as public companies.

A federal court recently agreed with his interpretation.

    • What if we'd started six years ago???

NOW IT THE TIME FOR CONGRESS
TO MOVE AND GET SOMETHING DONE

Imagine an energy plan that does it all––from allowing more oil drilling to spending billions on alternative energy sources, such as wind, solar and nuclear. Well, guess what? Been there, done that. "Energy has enormous implications for our economy, our environment and our national security," President Bush said in proposing the plan.

"We cannot let another year go by without addressing these issues together in a comprehensive and balanced package."

That was in June 2001––more than seven years ago.

His words came just after he first proposed a comprehensive energy bill that included 105 separate steps the U.S. could take to boost its energy supplies. It was something he promised repeatedly while campaigning for the presidency in 2000. He kept his promise. His first plan included, among many other things:

      (1) New drilling for more oil and gas and new refineries.
      (2) Building of nuclear power plants.
      (3) Revamping the U.S. electricity grid.
      (4) $10 billion in tax breaks to help push energy efficiency and alternative energy.

The fact is, these are remarkably similar to the plans that economists, oil experts and energy wonks say need to be put in place today in order to end our oil crisis. Yet, those proposals went nowhere––not approved in 2001, not in 2002, not in 2003, not ever.

Bush tried repeatedly to get something through Congress. He pleaded. He tried to cut deals with Democrats. It didn’t work.

A New York Times headline from August 20, 2003, sums it up: "Ambitious Bush Plan Is Undone by Energy Politics." That’s an understatement. Instead, Democrats ridiculed Vice President Cheney for meeting with oil industry representatives to craft U.S. energy policy––and for insisting on finding more oil. They had no plan themselves, mind you –– apart from massively expensive global warming initiatives that would force Americans to lower their standard of living to Third World levels by spending as much as $800 billion a year to cool the Earth.

Yet, if Bush's plan had been put in place in 2001, we'd have replaced millions of barrels of oil, billions of tons of coal, and untold trillions of acre feet of natural gas with clean, safe nuclear power. We'd be pumping millions of barrels more of oil, creating thousands of American jobs, cutting prices and saving literally hundreds of billions of dollars every year ––
money that today goes to Hugo Chavez, Libyan leader-for-life Muammar Qadhafi and Vladimir Putin’s Russia.

When the Democrats took control of Congress in 2007, and oil was $50 a barrel and corn $2 a bushel, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid promised an energy plan. We’re still waiting for it. Today, crude oil is $134 and corn is $6.50. It’s pretty clear who’s to blame: Congress. In fact,

House and Senate Democrats have obstructed any progress in America’s fight to regain some semblance of energy independence.

"Now is the time for Congress to move and get something done," President Bush said all the way back in August 2003. He’s still waiting, and so are we. Bush's original energy plan, derided by the Democrats and so-called progressives as a wet-kiss to Big Oil, was in fact a visionary plan.

At the time, Reid joked that GOP now stood for "Gas, Oil and Plutonium." Funny, we don’t hear anyone laughing now.

Such puerile shenanigans, as we’ve said before, endanger our security and weaken our standard of living. Angry? You should be. Call your political representatives and tell them you want more energy, not less. If they won’t do it, tell them you’ll vote for someone who will. Then maybe you’ll really get change you can believe in. Source: Investor's Business Daily, July 17, 2008, www.investors.com

The disgruntled Liechtenstein man who ratted out super-rich tax dodgers and sold the stolen information to the US and a few other countries lives in hiding and has $10 million bounty on his head (that was only to be expected...). Did he pay any tax on the millions of dollars and euros he made selling this information? I seriously doubt it.

American News Project: They hide an estimated $100 billion a year from the IRS, but now the U.S. Senate is turning up the heat on super-rich tax cheats. The man who ratted out some of these tax dodgers now lives in hiding and has a $10 million bounty on his head. This is a story straight out of our new Gilded Age -- one of billionaires, foreign bankers, corruption, secrecy and, of course, greed.

    • No law requiring US citizens to pay income tax

Something many American's may not know is that there is no law written anywhere in American history that we have to pay a Federal Income Tax. In fact, this tax is UCONSTITUTIONAL. The Constitution states that all taxes must be apportioned. The Federal Income Tax is a DIRECT unapportioned tax and is therefore unconstitutional. Some claim that Amendment 16 overrides this section of the Constitution, but for those who don't buy in to everything the government tells us this is how I see it:

Amendment 16 was a political scheme introduced by Republicans in attempt to trick the Democrats. Secretary of state at the time the amendment was proposed, Philander Knox, declared the amendment ratified. For those of you who don't know what it takes for an amendment to be ratified, it must be approved by 3/4 of the states. Knox, claimed that it was approved by 42 states.

For state approval to be acceptable, neither words nor punctuation can be changed. And the states MAY NOT violate their own state constitutions in ratifying the amendment:

Eight states (Rhode Island, Utah, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Kentucky, Florida, Virginia and Pennsylvania) did not approve or ratify the amendment.

Texas and Louisiana were forbidden by their own state constitutions to empower the federal government to tax.

Vermont and Massachusetts rejected the amendment with a recorded vote count, and only later declared it passed without a recorded vote after the amendment was declared ratified by Knox.

Tennessee, Ohio, Mississippi, California and Washington violated their state constitutions in their ratification procedures.

Minnesota did not send any copy of its resolution to Knox, let alone a signed and sealed one, as required.

And Oklahoma, Georgia and Illinois made unacceptable changes in wording. (Some of the above states also made such changes, in addition to their other unacceptable procedures.)

So as you can see, only 27 states legally under our constitution ratified the amendment. 27 is FAR less then the required 36.

    • AMERICA: Freedom to Fascism

      From freedomtofascism.com:

"America: Freedom to Fascism is a compelling and troubling account of how the wealth of our nation was silently passed from its citizens to a handful of powerful bankers in 1913. That's the year the Federal Reserve Act and the 16th Amendment were introduced, giving a privately held corporation the means to control our finances while ensuring its interest payments through the strong arms of the newly-formed Internal Revenue Service. Ever since then, Russo suggests, Americans have been gradually conditioned to accept fewer freedoms and a lower standard of living... all the while considering debt and servitude as distinctly American values.

Russo's first and most cogent point is simple: Americans are not required to pay a federal income tax. That's a bold statement to make, as few people believe that such a fraud could be perpetrated for so long. My father, himself an accountant, insists that the income tax is a very real thing. Russo takes that same belief to IRS employees and simply asks them to cite where it says an unapportioned income tax is required of us all. Guess what? They can't. In a telling segment Sheldon Cohen, former commissioner of the IRS, goes so far as to reject Supreme Court rulings and the Constitution as benchmarks over what is legal with regards to taxation. Russo also interviews members of the tax honesty movement as well as disenfranchised IRS agents who agree that no law on the books conjures up a requirement to send the government part of one's hard-earned paycheck. Russo then showcases court cases where those accused of tax evasion have won precisely because the prosecution cannot provide evidence of a legal federal income tax law.

It's shocking to have it hammered into your head over and over that you've thrown your money away for nothing, but repetition is good; it helps knock loose the deeply entrenched belief that we owe a portion of our livelihood to our government."
