Are We Real News or Tabloid?
Is CurrentTV Becoming the same News Tabloid TV?
I can flip 10 Th(s) of channels and see the same sensationalism and meaningless news on some TV Stations. Nothing is wrong, everything is just beyond believe. Why should I watch current TV or see the count down "n-e-w-s" happening here on the web? FOR THE SUSTAINABILITY OF LIFE ON EARTH "International Court of the Environment ...
Unfortunately, beyond statements of intent of many governments, I do not think that what is really marching.
Here it would involve a court in the predominantly civil law (but also criminal if applicable) to suppress international environmental damage, which are daily devastating and unpunished. What is currently non-existent. Just to give you an example. if a Ukrainian poisons a river and produces immense damage in other European countries, it is virtually impossible to pursue.

Big Pharma spent $168 million lobbying Congress in '07
Washington's largest lobby, the pharmaceutical industry, racked up another banner year on Capitol Hill in 2007, backed by a record $168 million lobbying effort, according to a Center for Public Integrity analysis of federal lobbying data. Among the industry's successes: getting two controversial laws extended and thwarting congressional efforts to restrict media ads for prescription drugs.

U.S.: a ‘surveillance society’?
After the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, local governments across the country set aside concerns over privacy and installed surveillance cameras in public streets and plazas.
Now — even after a damning report by the head of London’s extensive surveillance network and with little evidence that the systems work — police in many cities are trying to add thousands more cameras to their networks.
“‘Cameras Everywhere’ continues to be the best description of the trend in the video surveillance market,” security market analysts J.P. Freeman Co. said in a report in 2006 that estimated that a quarter of major U.S. cities were investing in the technology.
Two years later, the trend shows no sign of slowing. Officials in many cities are eager to take advantage of money from state and federal security agencies to install the cameras on street corners and intersections, and in cities that already have dozens of cameras, officials are seeking real-time access to thousands more in schools, transit facilities and private businesses:

Oakland Motorcycle Cops Stir Controversy with Loud Pipes
Monday June 16, 2008:
Civilians are usually the ones getting attention for loud motorcycle exhausts, but this time the San Francisco Chronicle reports that the Oakland Police Department-- AKA "Rolling Thunder"-- has re-installed noisy aftermarket pipes onto their fleet of Harley-Davidsons. According to the article, safety concerns spread among the department three months ago when an officer riding with stock pipes was struck by a motorist who claims he didn't hear him coming. The new pipes produce an average of 93 decibels.
MIC spokesman Mike Mount is quoted as saying, "We encourage all motorcycle riders to keep the original low sound levels that meet the ... federal sound limit of 80 decibels." He adds that "It would seem counterintuitive that a law enforcement agency would go against federal standards." Especially considering that recent laws have been clamping down on loud bike exhausts, the Oakland PD's attitude seems to suggest that they are above law, or perhaps that they know something that non law-enforcement types don't. Resident says loud music a big problem
By Mike Reddell
Bay City Tribune
Published June 14, 2008
Cars blaring loud radio music is a continual problem a north side resident told city council and said Bay City has too few police officers to deal with a situation that has gone on for five years.
Council also renewed an insurance consultancy pact with a Sugar Land company and agreed for the city to meet with Allied Waste on resolving costs for grinding refuse at an old city landfill site.
Sharon Kotrlik said she came before city council in 2004 to complain about vehicle drivers playing radios extremely loud in Bay City, “and nothing has changed in that time.”
“I live on 13th Street and it’s not just me. People all over town are complaining,” Kotrlik said. The ages of the drivers with those loud radios, she said, range from 22 to 35 years old. Salem neighbors making noise about loud motorcycles
SALEM — There are days when Alicia Hart claims to endure the earsplitting rumble 50 times a day.
“You can hear them a half-mile in either direction,” said the Salem Common neighbor.
They ride in packs of five or six, revving their engines at stop lights and storming through the neighborhood with no regard for the peace-seeking residents who live there, she says.

The conditioned insanity of corporations
I think the danger of corporate structures is that too many of them shut out criticism from the people who do the actual work, many are organized as a series of mini-dictatorships. As an interactive designer/programmer in the advertising industry, I’ve been mostly tertiary to this decision making process, but I have on occasion seen how the authoritarian nature of corporate hierarchies can be harmful on a number of levels.
First and foremost, I’m quite simply someone who hates to do something that I find to be illogical or pointless, or the worst reason of all “because I say so”. Over the years, though, I’ve conditioned myself to know what battles to fight in order to maintain a career and “go along to get along”, but my battles usually consisted of merely having to “make the logo bigger”, change this button from blue to red, etc–nothing I’ve ever “gone to the mat” over.
But now that I’ve been on my own freelancing for the past year, this self-conditioning process looks more and more like collective insanity to me.
For instance, a old college friend of mine is now a data-analyst for a major pharmaceutical company. On many occasions he has casually explained how his job is essentially to participate in a highly sophisticated system of targeted payola aimed at getting doctors to prescribe his company’s drug. Never once does it occur to him that his drug may be less effective than his competitors and that it is (in my opinion, at least) fairly amoral for such an aggressive system of coercion of professional medical opinions to be implemented at all. Unfortunately, it’s all about his “team”, not the positive or negative effects of his job upon society.
Of course, I’ve been acutely aware of my personal relationship to authority figures and a keen observer others' ever since reading Bob Altemeyer’s long-term psychological study of authoritarian tendencies, The Authoritarians (link to a free pdf copy of the book in the comments). In a super-small nutshell, we all must struggle against our desire to grant certain authorities unquestionable fealty. Authority can be defined as just about anything, a parent, an idea, a religious leader, hell a can of soup. It’s been one of the most enlightening reads I’ve had in my ongoing struggle to understand our ongoing struggles, and everyone I’ve recommended to has tended to agree that the book changed the way they see their enemies and allegiances. Ironically, the book has become my authority on the value of questioning authority, especially of my own in-group and finding the most effective means of communicating with "outsiders".
So while I do agree with the fundamental critiques of the film “The Corporation”, I would not necessarily personify them as BEING insane, but rather they condition people to working against their own interest, often without ever realizing it. This is largely accomplished by the mere fact that most large corporations prevent honest and pointed criticism at the bottom from rising to the failing leadership at the top (something that most people would call democracy).
They seem to forget that unions exist merely to get the bosses to sit at a table listen. It's only their fevered egos that require us to amass such great numbers just to attain their presence, but usually not their respect. I don't know why this is, other than some people just didn't have the experiences necessary to understand the value of and invite criticism. When someone says you suck, just see it as an opportunity to either improve, or justify your actions when questioned. Don't just tell them to shut up.
Perhaps a good regulation would simply be for every employee to be required by law to read independent analysis of their corporation's behavior. I do believe that we can all only be expected rise to the level of our awareness. Unfortunately, many corporations take an active roll in propagandizing from within and to without. I think the danger of corporate structures is that too many of them shut out criticism from the people who do the actual work, many ar... more -
Obama reaches out to Pro-Israel group
Introduced as the nominee of the Democratic Party, Senator Barack Obama drew several standing ovations from a vastly Jewish crowd at the American Israel Public Affairs Committee’s annual policy conference in Washington on Wednesday, talking tough on the Iranian threat to Israel while also promising that he would lead in pursuing a peace settlement in Israel.
Mr. Obama endorsed a two-state, Israel-Palestine settlement, and took an implicit poke at President Bush. He was speaking, as did John McCain before him on Monday, to a policy conference of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, a major lobbying organization for Israel.
“I won’t wait until the waning days of my presidency,” Mr. Obama said. “I will take an active role and make a personal commitment to do all I can to advance the cause of peace from the start of my administration.”
As president, he added: “I will work to help Israel achieve the goal of two states, a Jewish state of Israel and a Palestinian state, living side by side in peace and security.”
Shortly after he spoke, his former rival, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton came a touch closer than she did last night to acknowledging that he is the nominee of the party. She vouched for Mr. Barack’s friendship and concern for Israel, but did not call him the nominee.
“Let me be very clear,” she said, “I know Senator Obama will be a good friend of Israel.”
Mr. Obama defended his stance that he would negotiate with the nation’s enemies, but coupled that with a pledge of unstinting support for Israel’s security. He also promised to send military hardware to Israel under the same conditions governing NATO nations.
He talked tough on Iran, describing it in terms suggestive of a rogue nation. He made clear that he would place the military might of the United States behind Israel in the event of an Iranian attack on the Jewish state. Introduced as the nominee of the Democratic Party, Senator Barack Obama drew several standing ovations from a vastly Jewish crowd at t... more -

The Difference Between What Gov Says and What Gov Do
Check out all the disable individuals getting off of the bus. Poor people, they all have some kind of a problem and they all need a noise signal to orientate themselves. (Sorry about the cynicism, but I can not help!) I have been acoustically harassed for 7 consecutive Years.
So our Mayor wants to be the environmental Mayor? Ok! Let us see if he qualifies:
1. Our Public Transportation is the most acoustic polluted form of transport in the Bay Area and probably in the USA.
2. Our Public Traffic is brutal, uneducated and air pollution is all time high.
3. Noise is everywhere, anyone can harass anyone without further questions with beep signals, car alarms, car alarms special effects remote control door locks.
4. There are acoustic Terrorists in the Government and in the Public challenging Neighborhoods airspace everywhere.
5. Harley's and private cars with modified mufflers are free to run and speed in town at anytime; (Especially on weekends); terrorizing the whole population.
6. Every Weekend the "show down starts," quite a spectacle of combined social ignorance.
7. Many have the misconception that because we are in the City, everything goes. Just be quiet and enjoy the chaos and the crime ruling our lives until 4:00 AM!
Mr. Mayor, Looks like your qualifications are up to the task isn't?
Ps: These signals have the power to reach 150-250 feet around the perimeter invading most buildings rooms on its path. Programmed acoustic torture at its best. Clinton Statement On NY Airspace Czar Appointment
On April 8, 2008 presidential contender Hillary Rodham Clinton's statement regarding the appointment of Director Kennington-Gardinera included directing the new NY airspace czar to include the environmental impacts on residential communities in any criteria to address the metro area's congestion and delays (see below).
The New Jersey Coalition Against Aircraft Noise (NJCAAN) appreciates Clinton's statement that includes consideration regarding the health impacts generated by the aviation industry in the metro area. One clear way to address delays would be to utilize the restricted offshore military airspace for commercial aircraft. The military utilizes this airspace for training purposes. The unintended consequence is to force more commercial aircraft over residential communities.

Statement of Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton Regarding the Appointment of
the Director for the Federal Aviation Administration's New York Integration Office
"I am pleased that the FAA has finally taken action to appoint someone who can take a comprehensive look at the problems with our airspace. I certainly hope that Director Kennington-Gardinera will immediately begin the critical task of evaluating congestion at every step of the flight process, including the impact of flights over residential areas. While we must take action immediately to end the problems that plague our airports and airspace, any plans moving forward must also consider the quality of life for those people living in current and proposed flight paths. This is a quality of life issue for travelers as well as residents and this is our best chance to make sure everyone's concerns are heard."
Late last year, Senator Clinton joined her colleagues in the New York and New Jersey congressional delegation in calling for the appointment of an "airspace czar" to evaluate congestion at every step of the flight process - from tower control, to the TRACON, to the routing center.

Trains are coming back in style!
In the future, there will be the return of railroads and I couldn't be happier!
I've already explained in another article that I think it's time that U.S. really starts considering a larger network of high-speed railways because of our current airline problems. I know it's being implemented in California and in Texas but with all the problems lately with air travel from masturbating passengers to too hot fliers, we need a new mode of transportation across the board.
Also, well established high speed rail systems in use today are more environmentally friendly than air or road travel. This is due to lower energy consumption per passenger kilometer, reduced land usage for a given capacity compared to motorways, and displaced usage from more environmentally damaging modes of transport. In fact, I'm sure more study into it could make it even more eco-friendly.
I don't know why Americans think flight is our only mode of transportation. I know it's quicker but the prices are rising and the courtesy you once got on a flight is now diminishing. Flight understandable when going overseas or even across country but we've got find new efficient ways to get around.
In the future, there will be the return of railroads and I couldn't be happier! ... more -

Man and Women takes their bodies for granted when they move or do the simple daily tasks of living. Just think about that for a moment here, and follow me into this conversation, that will takes us to learn and understand our body physiological function, making life happening every day.
