(Second attempt - this time I've uploaded a smaller, lower resolution .mov file. I hope the Current processing won't slaughter it the way it slaughtered my previous large, high resolution .wmv file, and that the visual quality and the music quality will be better. I used the "advanced upload for higher quality" in my previous attempt, and the result was horrific.)

This is my second Bryce 5 3D animation. It took a lot of work and two sleepless nights... Creating the animation took a few hours to get the result I wanted, rendering the one-minute animation to video took sixteen hours... Editing it, finding the right music, fitting the video to the music and making it (more or less) synchronized with the music, then rendering it into a format that doesn't distort it took a whole day and half the night. More than 48 hours of almost non-stop work! I really need a new computer, a supercomputer (64 bits processor is my dream) with a gigantic amount of storage space, so that I don't have to wait for sixteen hours just to render a minute's worth of simple animation - each frame took a bit less than a minute to render, but some of my pictures which I would love to animate take much longer to render, and there are 30 frames per second, so if I were to make some of the animations I have in mind, it would take my computer over a week to render them to video, if not longer... Unfortunately, even a new and ordinary computer that is more powerful than my old machine is beyond my very modest income, especially as we now are two living on it.

Ah well, I will have to continue being patient and terribly frustrated (while my computer slaves away to render my animations to video, I can't use it for anything else, so I cannot continue creating all those pictures and animations which I have in mind, nor can I connect to the web), and the limitations of my old computer allow me to make only very short and very simple animations. It is always very painful for an artist not to have access to the materials he or she needs to fully express himself or herself, to fully allow his or her talent to blossom and skills to grow. But enough of my sob-story, I hope you enjoy my little beginner's creation! :)

The music is "Relax Your Soul A Second" by Epping/Reiter, from the APM-Current Music Library.

    • My First 3D Animation!

Hello all! I haven't been around much lately, I've been busy! First, I got married on March 13, so the three or so weeks leading up to that event (don't give up on true love, I am sixty years old and have finally wed Mr. Right!) and following have been pretty full. Today, I discovered how to do 3D animation with Bryce 5, so here is my very first effort. I looped it several times to make it fit with the length of the music file. It might seem a little bit boring, but indulge me... :)

The music is "Guitar Musette" by Angelo Debarre, from the APM-Current Music Library.

    • No Holiday On Ice!!

Laid-back businessman conducting business over his cell-phone in Geneva, Switzerland (hopefully, this time it won't be distorted by Current's processing... I can't seem to get a high resolution rendering to work properly here, and I can't find any recommendation on Current with regard to file type and file size for high quality videos worthy of getting on TV).

Every winter in Geneva, the municipality installs a small free open-air skating rink for the enjoyment of the population. When I walked past it, I noticed this businessman in a beautiful and very expensive camel-hair coat who was skating all by himself on the rink - I couldn't resist! I call this a "snapvid" (as in "snapshot"), a word I have recently coined. The music is "Drifting Thoughts" (Epping/Newman) from the Current APM Music Library.

      I have coined a word - "snapvid" - as in "snapshot". :)

I still can't download music from Current APM Music (when I try to do so, all I get on my computer is a blank htm page, and I've practically exhausted my credit through trying several times to download a dozen or so mp3s without succeeding in getting a single one, because each attempt was recorded as a download and ate up my credit), so I couldn't modify the sound-track to suit the video and override the background music (copyright issue). Any help from staff with regard to this problem would be most welcome.
