    • Pinky takes the protest to Home Town of Home Secretary

Cannabis users to hold mass demo

CAMPAIGNERS who want to fight the UK’s “out of date” cannabis laws are to hold a mass protest in Redditch to “hit” Home Secretary and town MP Jacqui Smith “where it most hurts”.

The man behind Protest London, known as Pinky, has organised a protest in October from 11am in Market Street, in the town centre.

The planned Redditch protest follows one in London which was held recently when thousands of people gathered in the streets to voice their support for the legalisation of cannabis.

Pinky said: “On September 28, 2008, 80 years has passed since cannabis became illegal to use. It was made illegal because no one knew if cannabis was a harmful drug or not.”

He said since the law was passed, nobody had been able to prove that cannabis caused any harm to users.

Pinky uses the drug for medicinal purposes but is also standing up for those people who use the drug for recreational purposes.

He said: “Cannabis should be controlled, taxed and licensed. The current law is completely out of date.

“The protest in Redditch will take place on Saturday, October 18, from 11am-7pm. Redditch is the home of Jacqui Smith, Home Secretary. We will hit her where it hurts most – home.”

And in a letter to Jacqui Smith – which appears on the Protest London website, he said: “The protest will be large, too large for Redditch to handle. We will close roads with barricades of disabled people in wheelchairs if this is what’s needed for us to get noticed.”

Pinky said he and fellow campaigners had contacted Jacqui Smith but received no response and that Ms Smith had completely ignored advice given to her by the Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs, where most of its members judged that cannabis should remain a Class C drug and not be upgraded.

He added: “The very least we want from this Redditch protest is a meeting with Jacqui Smith. If she fails to grant us one, we will continue being in her face until she agrees.”

Sgt Richard Edwards, of West Mercia Constabulary, said: “We are aware of the planned protest and are liaising with Redditch Council on the suitability of the proposed location.

“We are committed to ensuring that local residents and business can go about their lawful business undisturbed at the same time as recognising the rights of those who seek to carry out legitimate protests.

“We will ensure the demonstration is peaceful and does not cause any inconvenience to members of the public or highway obstruction.”

Jacqui Smith did not wish to comment on the protest.

The group is seeking donations towards the cost of the protest. Anyone who would like to donate can visit www.protestlondon.co.uk and click on the donate button

    • Marijuana Conspiracy / Why Cannabis is Illegal

Marijuana became illegal NOT because it was a danger to the mind and body. No, the real reason is that Big Business wants us to use petrochemicals and fossil fuels. They have little interest in NATURAL solutions. THEY have suppressed the truth concerning cannabis and purposely created the ‘menace of marijuana.’ Why? So they remain high profiteers while destroying our environment in the process.

Cannabis is the plant which is both called "hemp" and "marijuana". As "hemp", Cannabis sativa is valued for the prolific way in which it grows, its small ecological footprint, and the many uses of the resultant plant. Among the products hemp can be made into are: textiles, rope, oils that can be used to for fuel or to create food products (high in vitamin k), and the waste product from manufacturing these items can be used to make paper.

    • Eco-friendly fashion / Benefits of hemp go beyond medicine

Did you know that growing cotton uses 22.5 percent of all the insecticides used globally? Growing enough cotton for one t-shirt requires 257 gallons of water. On top of that, bleaching and then dyeing the resulting fabric creates toxins that flow into our ecosystem. The use of rayon for clothing is contributing to the rapid depletion of the world's forests. Petroleum-based products are detrimental to the environment on many levels. Fortunately there are alternatives.

There are a variety of materials considered "environmentally-friendly" for a variety of reasons. First and foremost, the renewability of the product. Renewable resources are items that can be replenished in a relatively short amount of time (as opposed to millennia).

The second factor is the ecological footprint of the resource - how much land (usually measured in acres) it takes to bring one of the individuals (plants or animals) to full growth and support it.

The third thing to consider in determining the eco-friendliness of a particular product is how many chemicals it requires to grow/process it to make it ready for market.

      HEMP
By far, the crop with the most potential for eco-friendly textile use is hemp. The ecological footprint of hemp is considerably smaller than that of most other plants considered for their fibres. Hemp plants grow very quickly and densely which makes it difficult for weeds to take hold, eliminating the need for herbicides and artificial fertilizers. It requires no irrigation as it thrives on the amount of water in the average rainfall, and it is highly pest-resistant.

Hemp has naturally long fibres which makes it suitable for spinning with a minimum of processing. Those fibres are also long-lasting, in fact, historically hemp has been used for making naval ropes that were used in and around water because they resist rot. If it held up to those conditions, imagine how well it will wear as a pair of jeans, or a shirt.

Hemp fabrics come in a variety of weights and textures. You can purchase fabric or clothing, woven or knit; buy yarn, rope, belts and a wide range of products made of this versatile plant.

    • An Inconvenient Solution

Cannabis agriculture has been blocked by the so-called "drug war" as a way of inducing essential resource scarcity. Hemp is an essential food, fuel, and fiber crop, without which mankind will never achieve sustainable existence on this planet.

If people are willing to accept extinction, rather than change the way we think about the world's most useful and nutritious agricultural resource, then we have much bigger problems than global warming. Economic inertia is carrying us past the point of being able to recover environmental balance. Will our species wake up to the true value of hemp in time to avoid synergistic collapse of environment, economics, and social structures?

Time is the limiting factor in the equation of survival.
We have nothing to fear but the atmosphere itself.

The Annual World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, is accepting the participation of You Tube user in its Congress Center viewing and answering the significant suggestion to what companies or individuals must do in order to make the World a better place in 2008.
Most of the conflicts we have in the World today is caused by economic inequality and its consequences.
The idea that corporation, which in many aspects decide the way other human beings and the environment are treated, are considering to take in consideration opinion and ideas of single individuals, like you and I, make me feel quiet optimist about the possibilities of a future with fair way of living for all!
So, it's up to you! You've up to January 27, 2008 to address them!
