This article is a tribute to Robert Downey Jr, and to his successful battle to return from the self-destructive dark edge. It includes a number of wonderful photographs, two music videos ("I Want Love" and "Smile" from "Chaplin"), two Sam Taylor-Wood experimental films in which Downey appears ("Pieta" and "Men Crying"), and the official "Iron Main" trailer. In addition, the article presents music audio and an outstanding photo-gallery.

    • Sam Taylor-Wood: portraits of crying men

"Crying Men" is Sam Taylor-Wood's experimental work based upon a series of photographs of celebrity actors crying, her treatise on the theme of sadness. This composition includes photographs, two videos on "Men Crying," her experimental video "Pieta," and the Elton John music video "I Want Love," which was produced by Sam Taylor-Wood, the acclaimed avant-garde English artist. • Sam Taylor-Wood: "Still Life" and the Acceptance of Mortality

Sam Taylor-Wood is a contemporary artist who works mostly in avant-garde video, video installations and photography. She has been identified as one of the leading figures in the younger British Artist Group. Sam Taylor-Wood’s video installations and photographs depict human dramas, isolated emotional situations, and people shown in solitary, awkward, or vulnerable moments. Her works have often featured celebrity friends, including Elton John, Robert Downey Jr., David Beckham and The Pet Shop Boys.

Still Life (2001) has been said to be one of the most classical works in contemporary art. It is part of a classical genre that contains symbols of change or death as a reminder of their inevitability. The short film carved a permanent record for itself in art history with hardly any commentary, confronting the vanity of worldly things through its focus upon the often subtle signs of elapsing time and decay.

This article includes photographs and Taylor-Wood's strangely beautiful, but also powerfully haunting video.

    • Love to Noise it !!

Happy Massacre is an experimental noise project performed with a nearly crashed old camera and a low quality Tv. It still has the original sound originated from the malfunctioned visuals simultaneously taken.

The noise of the film also pushes the limits of perception, where as the colors of heaven exist to hang on.

    • Spin Cycle: The Magic of Wonder Bread

I recently posted an article about Jeff Scher’s experimental short film Still Loaf with Guitar. Spin Cycle is a companion piece; both are earlier films in the series of works illustrating his long-term creative fascination with the illusion of motion via animation. Exploiting the visually symbolic nature of white bread, Scher created a panorama of color and optical effects in both of the films.

Comprised of 78 paintings on paper, Spin Cycle begins as a single slice of Wonder Bread rotating in limbo. As the film advances, Scher adds layers of paint and collage to the individual frames and then re-photographs them. The resulting film is one that blooms with the successive additions of color and texture until the image evolves into a dense and challenging cinematic experience.

Photographs and the Spin Cycle music video are included.

    • Affirmations

These are affirmations put into a video/sound mashup. These are moments. Like prayers. These ask us to look again. They ask something. A hope. A wish. A desire. These come from the head of Robert Fripp. I like them. These are affirmations put into a video/sound mashup. These are moments. Like prayers. These ask us to look again. They ask something... more
