Yankees spend $50,000 on 'hex-cavation'
It took just 15 minutes, but the removal of a buried Boston Red Sox shirt at the new, under construction Yankee Stadium cost the team $50,000!!! Waste of money? Probably not, if it means the team wins more games.
The shirt, a David Ortiz replica, was buried beneath the concrete by a die-hard Red Sox construction worker Gino Castignoli, who had hoped his deed would bring woe on the Boston team's fiercest rival for years to come.
Stupidly, the construction worker couldn't keep his mouth shut, and boasted a bit too loudly about his deed, thus forcing the New York Post to get involved and dig up the shirt with the help of hardhats more dedicated to the Yankee cause.
Yankees boss Hank Steinbrenner, not known for a quiet manner, simply said this of Castignoli.
"I hope his coworkers kick the shit out of him." It took just 15 minutes, but the removal of a buried Boston Red Sox shirt at the new, under construction Yankee Stadium cost the team ... more -

"The All-Star game will be there this year and of course we're all confident that the World Series will be there as well. So the Yankees need to keep it in good shape and we've been most respectful of that." Yes, the grass at Yankee Stadium is holier than the Pope. ... more -
