Say No to Violence! Video shows the sadness of what is going on in Sri Lanka
Light a Candle for Sri Lanka. As I was walking thru Zürich Switzerland recently, I came across a group of people in the center of the city holding a peaceful demonstration. You'll get to read their banners about some of what is going on.
This weeks Peace Intention Experiment has centered on Sri Lanka and the violence that goes on without notice of the International community. Why something has not been done yet is beyond me, but I can only supspect that its because there are no natural resources or military strategic lands there.
If you haven't yet got involved with the Peace Intention Experiment, I ask you to check it out. It's painless and free to be involved! All it takes is a few minutes of your time to listen to some meditative music and focus on some words to bring together the collective consciousnesses throughout the world.
Here is an email I just received:
Dear readers,
When I was casting around for the right target for this Peace Intention Experiment and having very little luck in finding suitable statistics for a rigorous experiment of this nature, I was finally directed to Dr. Kumar Rupersinghe.
The former publisher of a newspaper. Dr. Rupesinghe helped to found and now chairs the Foundation for Co-Existence (FCE), a humanitarian organization focusing on peace, human security, and conflict resolution.
A model for coexistence
FCE has produced a model for dispute resolution and coexistence between the LTTE and the Muslim and Sinhala communities. By addressing the grievances of all sides, the organization has made substantial contributions to the reduction of violence and the promotion of human security in Sri Lanka's Eastern Province.
FCE's own early warning system (which is supplying us with the statistics for the Peace Intention Experiment) has helped to reduce violence in the Eastern portion of Sri Lanka.
Dr. Rupesinghe has sought to persuade organizations and governments around the world to develop programs for early warning, early action, coalition building and burden sharing in civil wars.
He is, in a sense, the Gandhi of Sri Lanka. He embodies the truism that all an individual requires is resolve and strength of character to make an extraordinary difference, even against incredible obstacles.
Light a candle for peace on Sunday
Dr. Rupesinghe's organization has set up a No to Violence campaign, which culminates in a vigil on Sunday, September 21, at 5 pm Sri Lankan time (approximately the same time as our final intention experiment - 12 noon US Eastern time).
Please pledge your support to No to Violence (no money required) by lighting a candle at the end of our very last intention on Sunday.
But before that time, please continue your support of this effort by joining in today and every day that you can until September 21, at the following times:
September 18, 19, 20 and 21, 2008
* 12 noon US Eastern Daylight Savings Time
Other times:
* 6 am Hawaiian Daylight Savings Time
* 9 am Pacific Daylight Savings Time
* 10 am Mountain DST
* 11 am Central DST
* 12 noon Eastern DST
* 5 pm British Summer Time
* 6 pm European Summer Time
Because we are an experiment, we need a critical mass of participants to make a difference.
Please get your friends involved in this effort to help Sri Lanka and to demonstrate that one good thought is all it takes to change the world.

Gallery loses millions worth of art in Swiss heist
Four world famous art pieces have been stolen from a Zürich gallery. The paintings are all influenced by the 'impressionist' movement, with pieces from Paul Cezanne, Vincent Van Gogh, Degas, and Monet all being taken.
Three men entered the gallery wearing masks and in the words of police, performed a 'spectacular' heist, which saw them make off with the works. Police reported that one of the three thieves harassed the gallery's personnel with a pistol, while the other two stole the oil paintings straight off the gallery's walls.
The thieves made off with over $160 (£80) million worth of art.
This is the second art heist this year, with two paintings by Pablo Picasso going missing only a few weeks ago.
The picture shown is a replica of Claude Monet's 'Poppies near Vetheuil,'which was reportedly taken in the robbery. Four world famous art pieces have been stolen from a Zürich gallery. The paintings are all influenced by the 'impressionist'... more
