Report: Kaka to Chelsea for world record fee
Kaka is heading for Premier League Chelsea, according to a close advisor of the Brazilian international superstar.
The AC Milan playmaker would be re-united with his former national team manager Luiz Felipe Scolari at Stamford Bridge if a deal is brokered, with reports suggesting a world record fee of around $160,000 million.
Scolari handed Kaka his Brazil debut at the age of 20 and included him in the squad which won the 2002 World Cup.
The arrival of Ronaldinho at AC Milan from Barcelona this week may have also precipitated Kaka's departure from the San Siro, his personal assistant Dieogo Kotscho told The Guardian.
"Real Madrid offered 90 million euros ($142.6 million) last summer and Milan did not even think about the bid," Kotscho was quoted.
"This time is different. This is the first time we feel that a deal will definitely happen.
"Because of the situation Milan are in at the moment, the deal is good for all parties involved," he claimed.
Chelsea have also been linked with Kaka's Brazil international teammate Robinho at Real Madrid as they step up their challenge to Manchester United who beat them to both the Premier League and Champions League last season.
"Chelsea are the club to be at right now. They are building a team to win everything," said Kotscho.
Kaka has only recently returned to Europe after having minor surgery on his knee in his native Brazil.
Any deal for the 26-year-old would shatter the current world record transfer of £91.94 million when Real Madrid signed Zinedine Zidane from Juventus in 2001. Kaka is heading for Premier League Chelsea, according to a close advisor of the Brazilian international superstar. ... more -
United claim 10th Premier League title
Manchester United claimed their 10th Premier League title with a 2-0 victory at Wigan Athletic on a dramatic final day of the season.
Nearest rivals Chelsea were held 1-1 at home to Bolton to leave Alex Ferguson's men two points clear in the final English championship standings.
United went ahead through a disputed penalty by Cristiano Ronaldo, his 31st league goal of the season, in the first half after Wayne Rooney was fouled by Emmerson Boyce.
But they had to survive some nervous moments at the JJB Stadium before substitute Ryan Giggs, equaling the legendary Bobby Charlton's record 758th appearances for United, scored a precious second goal with nine minutes remaining.
"That doesn't come into it -- championships are what it's all about," Giggs said.
Charlton, who survived the 1958 Munich air disaster which decimated Matt Busby's team, came down to the field to congratulate the current team after Wigan had formed a guard of honor as they returned after the final whistle. Non-EU Football stars hit by new immigration rules
New immigration laws in Britain could see foreign footballers having to hastily enrol in English lessons if they want to continue playing in the Premier League.
According to Sky, non-EU footballers "will be banned from playing for British clubs unless they can speak English," but will not be alone as they will be among groups restricted under the new rules.
The new immigration rules are being implemented in an attempt to reduce the amount of UK migrants every year by around 30,000
Booo. Could this be due to the expert's predictions of the the 1/3 population growth in the next 10/20 years? What does being English have to do with football anyway? You don't have to speak to play. If you're a star, you're a star, no matter what language you speak.

Sepp Blatters the Premier League plans
The plans were never really gaining any popular support and it now looks like Sepp Blatter has put the final nail in the coffin for plans to play Premier League games abroad.
"This will never happen, at least as long as I am president of FIFA. It is an astonishing concept that is not acceptable to me and will not be acceptable to the FIFA executive or Congress. I thought it was a joke at the end of the carnival season but it seems not.”
Richard Scudmore, the head of the Premier League, must be somewhat miffed at how much Sepp has Blattered all over his plans for a sunnier competition. To add insult to injury Sepp Blatter said that this plan amounted to abuse, an already rich Premier League trying to get richer and said this greed would have a negative effect on Englands 2018 bid to host the World Cup.
“When it comes to a decision of the executive committee concerning this matter of the 39th round, and I am sure they will be against it, then it will not have a positive impact on the bid from England”
Just to make it clear Mr Scudmore, it looks like you've now got no support at all, and now you've damaged our 2018 World Cup bid. Nice one. The plans were never really gaining any popular support and it now looks like Sepp Blatter has put the final nail in the coffin for pl... more
