Bun B Praises Too Short, Pays Hip Hop Honor Tribute
On this evening's airing of Vh1's Hip Hop Honors, viewers will see Too Short [click to read] honored, among Slick Rick, Cypress Hill, De La Soul and Naughty By Nature [click to read]. Speaking with HipHopDX late last week, Bun B [click to read] spoke about the significance of his longtime musical brother in Hip Hop.
"For a person like Too Short, who has been around since I started listening to rap, to finally get his just due...there's so many others in this industry that don't get our proper respect and our proper appreciation. I don't think there's one emcee who's rapping today who hasn't been able to express his freedom, and express himself and his opinions, that doesn't get that directly from a person like Too Short," Bun said. In 2007, UGK did "Life Is 2009" [click to read], a song paying tribute to a Too Short classic, and his unique delivery.
Bun went on to defend Short's lyrics and legacy in the mainstream. "People think it's just all about bitches and hoes and shit like that. But anybody who really listens to a Too Short record knows, he's really one of the first people to show you what it's really like living in that Oakland, Bay area. With songs like 'The Ghetto' [click to read] showing you the poverty and what people were going through, you'll see there's more to the man than you thought."

Bun B Talks Zune Custom Model And Scarface Collab Album
In celebration of tonight's taping of Vh1 Hip Hop Honors, Zune announced that they made a custom 80gb device in honor of the event. Naturally, Zune's Hip Hop spokesman, Bun B [click to read] received the first such device before they go public after taping.
An avid sneaker and clothing collector, Bun told HipHopDX this afternoon about the bragging rites he gets having the exclusive model early. "I've been hittin' boys off all day with it. In the Hip Hop community, which stems from the inner-city community, people treasure what they get. They hold things very dear and close to them, especially when you get something new. If you get something before everybody else, that makes it even more special and you hold onto it that much tighter."
Having a strong partnership with Zune, Bun spoke on why he thinks Microsoft's portable MP3 company sought him out as their in to Hip Hop. "Throughout the course of my career, I've not only been able to set trends but maintain trends, as I maintain my fanbase. The people I deal with, we never really tried to sell them anything other than the music. A lot of people try to over-extend themselves a little too early."

Three 6 Mafia Speak On The Realities Of Sizzurp In Hip Hop
Late yesterday Three 6 Mafia, co-authors of the 2000 ode to prescription cough medicine, “Sippin’ On Some Syrup,” spoke candidly to HipHopDX.com about their thoughts on some artists denouncing the usage of “syrup” by the Hip Hop community in the wake of Pimp C’s untimely passing this past December, in part due to his consumption of the promethazine and codeine enhanced cough syrup.
