    • "Ex'alt" Promo for Ex'pression College (2006)

This is an excerpt from a promotional "infomercial"/documentary I produced, directed, edited, and mixed for a digital art technology college in Emeryville, California. This was aired on National Cable WB and enjoyed a summer long rotation. It proved effective as their enrollment rate skyrocketed afterwards.

Using "guerilla" style documentary filmmaking, I was able to produce the 1 hour long promo within weeks (and small budget) utilizing only 2 Panasonic DVX100-B, Seinnheisser wireless microphones/boom, mobile FCP/Protools editing, and production volunteers.

    • "SUPERFLIP" produced by Joselito Sering (1995)

Synopsis: The plight and suffering of an immigrant woman married to a cheating husband.
      TRT: 40 min

This 16mm short film thesis is a political erotica directed by Dr. Celine P. Shimizu, a well know feminist/activist in the academic film community and Stanford professor. I produced and acted in this film after an actor from L.A. decided he was too good to be in it. Last minute, she said, "hey, you! spamboy! get in there and do it!" So I did.

The film is jam packed with simulated sex scenes juxtaposed with scenes of a miscarriage in a pool hall bathroom. This film is far from sexy and would make anyone into experimental film-making queezy with unease. Definitely not for those with a weak stomach. Although, I have to admit, the whole crew and the actresses were all HOT! This was a great introduction to the world of independent film-making.

Synopsis: A tyrant boss gets what's coming to him. (Sitcom)
      TRT: 00:13:00
Actors: Michael Fehrenbach and Larry Feurzeig (shown)
      Music: Cinematic Orchestra

This short was shot at Oracle Systems, Inc. in Redwood Shores, Ca. One of the producers is the son of the VP and we were able to get some VIP treatment getting access to all the cubicles and executive offices as we needed along with security guards! Haha! The movie revolves around what employees actually do to retaliate against their tyrant boss who constantly berates them without mercy.

    • "LIFE" a short film by Joselito Sering

Synopsis: Based on a true story, a father is convicted for the murder of the young man who killed his son. (Drama)

Actors: Mike Fehrenbach, Anastasio Skalkos III, and Chris Golden.
Music: Jerome Madigan, Leo James, and Cory Forseth

This story is based on an actual event that happened in my neighborhood. A teen was shot in the face over a trivial matter right behind my house at an empty lot. The father of the murdered teen posed as a social worker and bailed the shooter out of jail. He then took him to the same spot and executed him the same way. He was arrested and sentenced to life in prison. That was in the late '90s.

    • "SPATULA CITY" Hip-Hop Cooking Show (pilot)

This star-studded celebrity cooking show was created and produced by Aleks Figueroa and myself with some help from Wutang front-lady, Tekitha, and edit help from David Luraschi, for a television show pitch to MTV, VH1, BET, Food Channel, and PBS. We were able to get a whole array of stars including Kanye West and DJ Fuze (Digital Underground) as shown in this clip. We also had John Legend, RZA of Wutang, Amon Tobin, Kid Koala, Dilated Peoples, and more. This show was fun to make.

Unfortunately, the show itself never made it pass the pilot pitch, but other celebs, including Sean Combs and others, have since copied the idea.

    • "WAKE" a short film by Joselito Sering

This is an excerpt from the short film "Wake" produced and directed with Nolan Sipe and Daniel Peterson. This short was screened at Festival de Cannes Short Film Corner in 2006

Synopsis: A young man visits his dying father in the hospital only to scorn him. (Psycho-drama)

Actors: Beau Ballinger, David Gizzarelli, and Lani Curtis
      Music: Daniel Peterson

This was the first time Beau and I worked on a film together. Getting the hospital room was a bit sneaky. One of the producers went to Chabot College and spoke with the nursing department head as if we belonged to the film department there. She was more than happy to help but we had to pretend we were students. Thank you, nurses!

this is a music video blog i write featuring indie and electro artists from all over the world. i post music videos of songs by bands or solo artists, pics, and lyrics, content of which explain what i am going through emotionally, intellectually, or physically on that day.

this blog is a great resource for up and coming indie and electro artists in the americas, united kingdom, scandinavia, europe, asia, and the pacific. united by haircuts! and white belts!

once in a while, i write about the postpunk/metal scene here in the bay area during the 80's since i was there and knew all those thrash and punk bands before they all became super huge.

i also write all kinds of drama and scandal in my life and hide it as fiction. lots of sex, drugs, and indie-electro for all ye post-scene and young-at-heart hipsters.

you'll also find heart-warming moments of triumph and maturity in the coming of age stories embedded between the lines. if you don't laugh, you'll cry.

if you're ever in the mood to snoop into someone else's disturbed yet exciting escapades while enjoying new music and beautiful stories for ugly children, this blog is for you.

    • "Next Stop" - a short film by Joselito Sering

Synopsis: A young man wakes from a nightmare and finds a camera with footage of what appears to be his own death. (Suspense)

Actors/Models: Beau Ballinger, Maggie Vandehnberg, Amber Alexander, and Robert S. Wilson.
Music: 1) Joselito Sering, original score (dream sequence); and 2) Daniel Peterson, original thematic score.

This is a student short film I directed and produced in 2005-2006 which featured my own original music soundtrack along with collaborator Daniel Peterson. It was shot in San Francisco BART Montgomery and Civic Center station during ORANGE ALERT. We were stopped the first day by BART Police and SWAT showed up. We lied and said we applied for a permit and that the TV/Film Liaison department of BART said to "go ahead" and shoot our "tech rehearsal."

On the second shoot day, we tricked the new SWAT guys into letting us shoot the rest of our "tech rehearsal" and name dropped Officer Washington, their commander, so they did. They jumped off their seats when we told them there was a gun involved.

The SWAT guys were real accommodating and even offered to guard both ends of the hall to warn the public that it was a "tech rehearsal" for a student film about what to do when you find suspicious bags lying around. PERFECT!

This was the second student film I made with actor Beau Ballinger after talking about writing a story that had no dialogue for the main actor and tell the story with his face. I brainstormed with my team about making an existential movie about the dichotomy between destiny and free will while making a dark suspense thriller.

Using the current scare associated with terrorism and bombs, we decided to develop the story around the plot of finding an unattended bag. We used the camera footage plot to twist the existential question and the footage worked as the device for suspense.

This film was praised in several international short film festivals and enjoyed a brief but strong run.

    • Bizarre Love Pentagram: "No Remorse" (Episode 2)

This is a censored version of a final visual edit for episode 2 of my feature length directorial debut "Bizarre Love Pentagram." This scene is a flashback account of a moment in 1984. Shot in my own kitchen and backyard in 2007, we changed everything in the set to resemble a typical home in the Sunset District of the 80's, from the cookware and telephone to the records and typical clothes. We did, however, do some motion graphic compositing to hide the Pokemon artwork (of the 90's). We simply replaced it with a Voltes 5 picture (of the late 70's). The sound is incomplete and the music is not cleared. The censored cussing and blackouts of nudity were necessitated in order to post it places.

This scene is a flashback of a main character, Venom, when he was 12 and his sister, Taj Mahal, 14. This is the day she reveals to him a letter from their excommunicated dad hidden by their mom, Florenzia. He wants them all to come back but their mom, never stating her reason, refused. This day was also a major turning point for Venom when his sister introduces him to Motorhead.

Actors: Anita Argent (Florenzia), Kai Steele Smith (Venom), Tiffany Schmitz (Taj Mahal)
      Assistant Camera: Chris Golden
      Location Sound: Nathan Fritz
Set/Props: Myself, "Riel", and Tim Schmitz
      Styling: Myself and Anita Argent
      Compositing: Mark Rollins III
Music: 1) Frank Sinatra "That's Life"; 2) Aimee Mann "Video" (original score coming soon)

    • Bizarre Love Pentagram: "High Noon" (Episode 4)

This is a completed visual edit of a scene for my feature length directorial debut "Bizarre Love Pentagram." This was shot in Summer 2007 at Mt. Davidson in the heart of San Francisco. Sound is not complete and the music featured is not cleared. I will, however, write my own score for this scene.

The scene follows the epiphany of a confused and young absentee father, Venom, lamenting at the news of his own father's death who he hasn't seen since he was 9 years old. It's his 27th birthday and he received a video camera from his ex-girlfriend, Stella, mother of his child. He opens the camera and finds a recording of his 3 year old son.

      Actor/Model: Beau Ballinger
Music: 1) Morningrunner "Oceans"; 2) Maximillian Hecker "Help Me"
