    • Could Obama pass the security check for the Secret Service?

This is a question that is circling around many blogs of late. What's your opinion? Do you think he could? Does it even matter? Should he be the next President of the United States given his past associations? Your thoughts.

The following excerpts are from an article at http://thecaptainsamerica.blogspot.com/

      Written By: Frank Salvato...

      DOWNERS GROVE, IL. (NS/NMJ) -

There has been much talk, both pro and con, about whether Sen. Barack Obama’s “associations” matter with regard to his qualifications to hold the office of President of the United States. This argument, this avenue of political discourse, misses the point. Whether or not Sen. Obama has associations with criminals, terrorists and other nefarious and infamous individuals pales in comparison as to whether he has been influenced by them...

We have heard the names of the people on the list of radicals and ne’er-do-wells that Barack Obama says he knows but doesn’t know; has worked with but hasn’t worked with; has taken money from but hasn’t taken money from. They include but are not limited to:

Williams Ayers, Saul Alinsky, Don Warden (aka Dr. Khalid Al-Mansour), Frank Marshall Davis, Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Fr. Michael Pfleger, Rashid Khalidi, Tony Rezko, Franklin Raines, James Johnson, Nadhmi Auchi, Joseph Aramanda, Louis Farrahkan, Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, Kevin Wardally...

While it is legitimate to question whether it demonstrates good judgment to associate with such decidedly radical ideologues, it is more important to understand whether or not Sen. Obama has been influenced – at any point in his life – by any of these people...

The argument can be made that Sen. Obama has most certainly been influenced by the teachings of self-proclaimed socialist Saul Alinsky. In, Saul Alinsky’s best known and final work, Rules for Radicals, he mapped out a course of action for the counter-culture movement of the 1960s. It is in Rules for Radicals that Barack Obama found his model for his community organizing activities...

It can be argued that Sen. Obama was influenced by William Ayers, unrepentant terrorist and bomber of the US Capitol Building, free today only due to an evidence gathering technicality (it should be noted here that no trial is needed to determine Ayers guilt in his terrorism...he has admitted to the acts)...

It is becoming more evident as each day passes that Ayers met a young Barack Obama on the Columbia University campus, or at least at common ground near the campus, where a plethora of anti-American and socialist and Marxist-leaning rallies took place. Both admit to attending these rallies and both were enrolled at Columbia; Ayers studying for his M.Ed in Early Childhood Education and Obama his B.A. in political science with a specialization in international relations...

While this supposition alone doesn’t prove any ideological symbiosis between Ayers and Obama, the fact that Obama channeled millions of dollars to Ayers’ “educational projects” when chairing the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, does...

In the person of Rev. Jeremiah Wright, we most certainly see someone who held influence with Barack Obama, so much so that Obama titled his second book, The Audacity of Hope, after one of the reverend’s sermons. To believe that Sen. Obama would be able to listen attentively enough to draw “wisdom” from one of Wright’s sermons so to include in a book while sitting in the pews of Trinity United Church of Christ for twenty years but not understand that Wright was a racist is to believe that the American public is completely devoid of intelligence...

These are only three of at least fifteen people of questionable character that Sen. Obama says he knows but doesn’t know; has worked with but hasn’t worked with; has taken money from but hasn’t taken money from, and the list gets more contentious as it goes on...

    • Sex bias seen in control of cancer pain

NEW YORK (Reuters Health) - How well pain is managed in people with cancer apparently differs between men and women, new research hints.

Dr. Kristine A. Donovan, of the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute in Tampa, Florida, and colleagues examined pain severity and the adequacy of pain management in 131 cancer patients newly referred to a multidisciplinary cancer pain clinic.

Men and women did not differ significantly in terms of worst pain scores, least pain scores, or pain interference. However, average pain in the last week and pain right now were significantly higher in women.

In addition, the average total daily dose of pain-killers was significantly greater for men (130 versus 66 milligrams morphine equivalent value).

Women were also significantly less likely than men to receive prescriptions for high potency opioids (33 percent versus 51 percent).

Women were also significantly more likely than men to report inadequate pain control, as indicated by scores on a standard pain management scale.

These findings, Donovan and colleagues conclude, highlight the need to improve the treatment of pain in cancer patients and to "more closely examine physician and patient-related factors that may hinder adequate pain management."

    • ‘SNL’ Palin-Incest Joke? Wow...

In Saturday Night Live’s second attempt to mock this year’s vice presidential race, a sketch lampooning The New York Times as out of touch has instead touched off a firestorm by casually throwing out a much more insidious inference — incest — between Todd Palin and his pregnant, teenage daughter, Bristol.

Editor’s Note: When this story was originally published at 12:07 pm ET, the video was available on YouTube. It has since been removed and a notice posted that NBC Universal has issued a copyright claim. Many other SNL videos remain on YouTube.

Hilarious bias by current.com. I happened to login tonight and what stories are on the front page? Check these out. There were 22 stories linked and 16 of the 22 are anti-Sara Palin, anti-RNC, and anti-conservative. Simply amazing. And not one story on the home page that questions the Democrats or the Liberal movement. Pay special attention to the stories that have a star by it. I already know Current is biased, but I just like to point it out now and again.

    • FBI, DOJ Push to Legislate Racial Profiling

New rules on FBI investigations of national security cases should be delayed, top Senate Judiciary Committee members said Monday, raising concerns that ethnic or racial groups could be targeted despite no evidence of wrongdoing.

In a letter to Attorney General Michael Mukasey, the senators called for congressional hearings on the rules before they are finalized. They suggested delaying the rules — known as the attorney general guidelines — until FBI Director Robert Mueller appears before the panel Sept. 17.

Judiciary Chairman Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., and Sen. Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania, the panel's top Republican, called the guidelines a "laudatory effort to ensure that front-line agents are given clear rules to follow in pursuit of their investigations."

"Nevertheless, efforts to harmonize the rules governing criminal and national security matters also raise potential civil liberties concerns, given the broader latitude currently given to investigators to consider race and ethnicity in national security matters," Leahy and Specter wrote.

They added: "The important aims of the guidelines, and their potential implications for civil liberties, require a meaningful dialogue between Congress and DOJ."

DOJ stands for the Department of Justice, which oversees the FBI.

The rules are expected to be finalized later this week or early next week. Justice spokesman Peter Carr said Monday that the department is reviewing the letter.

    • Elisabeth Hasselback Boycott

On a recent airing of ABCs "The View," the well-known conservative Elisabeth Hasselback says that she will not see "W." ( http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1175491/ ) a soon to be released comedy film directed by Oliver Stone. It is supposed to chronicle the life of George W. Bush. She claims that it is "biased" and a "spoof." Whoopi Goldberg and the other hosts gang up on her and try to make her look bad because she has never seen it. It seems obvious, however, that this will probably turn out to be about as believable as Michael Moore's "Fahrenheit 911." You don't always need to see something to know what it's going to be about, I mean it is taglined as a comedy, that should tell you something. • Missing Persons Are Not Created Equal

NYPD Inaction Over a Missing Black Woman Found Dead Sparks a Historic Racial-Bias Lawsuit

Police blew off the story of a young black woman who vanished. She was tortured and murdered. Now, a court ruling has reopened the case on bias grounds.
      By Sean Gardiner
      Tuesday, May 5 2008

Shortly before 7 p.m. on a spring evening in 2003, 21-year-old Romona Moore told her mother that she was going to the Burger King down the street in their Canarsie neighborhood and would be right back.

After a few hours passed and Romona still hadn't returned home, her mother, Elle Carmichael, was worried.

Romona, you see, was a nerd. Despite her age, this child of a Guyanese immigrant was still living a sheltered life. A Hunter College student, she worked part-time as a receptionist and otherwise hung out in the local library, dreaming of a career in research. Shy and introverted away from her family, she never partied and, as far as her mother knew, had never had a real boyfriend. She didn't have a cell phone, but she always called her mother to tell her where she was and what she was doing.

Ramona Moore is no longer a missing person, please read the rest of the story..................

    • James Whale sacked from Talksport for being pro-Boris

Radio host James Whale has been fired by Talksport after urging listeners to vote for Conservative candidate Boris Johnson in London's mayoral elections.

The comments were made on 20 March during his late-night programme. A Talksport spokesman said: "James Whale's contract with the station has been terminated after a breach of the Ofcom Broadcasting Code."

Under Ofcom rules, presenters are banned from showing any bias towards a political party before an election. The Talksport spokesman described the matter as "very unfortunate".

The EPA, under pressure from the chemical industry, fired an award-winning scientist who warned that we should ban a toxic chemical. "Deca" is used as a flame retardant in many manufactured products. Toxicologist Deborah Rice testified before the Maine Legislature in support of a state ban on the compound because scientific evidence shows it is toxic and accumulating in the environment and people.

These are the people who watch out for us, who SHOULD protect us from cancer-causing chemicals. Are they doing the right thing?
