Firemen cruise in big red truck to pick up girls
Now I always kinda thought this was a perk of the job, but it seems that's not quite the case.
After seeing a buxom-blonde stepping out of the back of a firetruck in Newcastle, an angry cabbie took a picture on his mobile and has lodged a complaint.
An investigation into the incident has been launched after he cllaimed he saw fire crews 'shouting and leering at girls,' which he thinks is putting lives at risk because the firefighters are 'loiteriing.'
'They are going round town getting whistled at by women and they are hanging out the windows of the fire engines.'
I think someone might needs their jealousy extinguishing. Now I always kinda thought this was a perk of the job, but it seems that's not quite the case. ... more -
Murdered Chinese students linked to betting scam
The two Chinese Newcastle University graduates murdered last weekend could be linked to a complex web betting scam, Northumbrian Police believe.
The couple, Xi Zhou and Zhen Xing Yang, were found dead by police on Saturday. Police said the two were tortured for some time before being killed. Bizarrely, the couple's cat was found dead in a bucket in the bathroom. Detective Superintendent Steve Wade said it was one of the worst crime scenes he'd ever seen.
Wade said: "A possible motive for the killing is beginning to emerge... Community intelligence supported by the examination of computer equipment and mobile call data has shown that both of the victims have been involved in fraudulent activity which has angered and upset a number of people. We are currently investigating this as a possible motive for the killings." Nike drop Newcastle United's disgraced football thug Joey Barton
Violent offender footballer Joey Barton has been dropped by the American sporting giant Nike for bringing their brand into "disrepute" following his six-month prison sentence for a violent attack in Liverpool city centre.
While Kevin Keegan elected to keep him in his £3 million a year Newcastle United job, Nike have talen a stand by calling a halt to his £40,000 annual boot sponsorship deal.
"Whilst Joey Barton is a talented footballer, we cannot condone or accept what he did and his contract with us has been terminated," said a Nike sportsperson.
Barton is a repeat violent offender and committed his last offence while on bail. He last served time after punching a man to the ground and pummelling his victim up to 20 times with his fists in an attack caught on CCTV in Liverpool last December.
He is also serving a four-month jail sentence, suspended for two years, after a separate conviction for a "ferocious" training ground attack on former Manchester City colleague Ousmane Dabo, which left his victim unconscious and bleeding.
Should Barton have been dropped from Newcastle as well as Nike? If footballers are role models for young people, what message does Kevin Keegan's acceptance of Barton's violent behaviour send out? Why are footballers seemingly exempt from taking responsibility for their actions? What should be done about Barton? Badboy Barton out of prison early
After being sentenced to six months in jail for what the judge described as a "violent and cowardly" assault on an unsuspecting teenager, Premiership footballer Joey Barton has been released from jail after serving only a third of his sentence.
The feisty Newcastle United midfielder pleaded guilty to assault and affray charges at Liverpool Crown Court on May 20th, but since then Barton has also been handed a four-month suspended sentence for beating up one of his teammates when he played at Man. City.
You think Barton's early release from prison, and the reported second chance given by Newcastle Manager Kevin Keegan, sets a bad example for kids who look up to football players? After being sentenced to six months in jail for what the judge described as a "violent and cowardly" assault on an unsuspect... more -
