    • Baby Comes Back to Life After Being Pronounced Dead

JERUSALEM (Reuters) - A stillborn Israeli baby who was pronounced dead by doctors "came back to life" on Monday after spending hours in a hospital refrigerator.

The baby, weighing only 600 grams at birth, spent at least five hours inside one of the hospital's refrigerated storage units, before her parents, who had taken her to be buried, began noticing some movement.

"We unwrapped her and felt she was moving. We didn't believe it at first. Then she began holding my mother's hand, and then we saw her open her mouth," said 26-year-old Faiza Magdoub, the baby's mother.

The baby was pronounced dead several hours earlier, after doctors at Western Galilee hospital in northern Israel were forced to abort her mother's pregnancy because of internal bleeding. Magdoub was 23 weeks into her pregnancy.

"We don't know how to explain this, so when we don't know how to explain things in the medical world we call it a miracle, and this is probably what happened," hospital deputy director Moshe Daniel said.

The baby was then taken to the hospital's neonatal intensive care unit for further treatment, but doctors were not sure how long she will live.

Motti Ravid, a professor of internal medicine, told Israel's Channel 10 that the low temperature inside the cooler had slowed down the baby's metabolism and likely helped her survive.

    • Man Returns From The Dead...Wife Still Leaves Him

"Miracle" man Joshua Mahabir might have had a second chance at life, but he will not be getting a second chance with his wife.

Mahabir, who said he was declared dead at hospital but came back to life on the way to the mortuary, said he wanted to make up with the wife who left him.

It was the breakup, he said, that led him to drink from a bottle of weedicide last month, the poison sending him to the San Fernando General Hospital where he said his miracle happened.

Said she left for good on July 25.

The following day, her husband said he drank from a bottle of gramoxone and ended up at hospital. A day later, Mahabir said he was moved to the hospital's Accident and Emergency Ward to have his stomach pumped, but woke up to find himself wrapped in a sheet inside a body-bag on a trolley between two dead people on the way to the mortuary. He claimed that he was returned to the A&E, treated, handed an apology and was well enough to leave the hospital two days later.

On the morning he "died" his wife said she was at the Siparia Magistrates' Court, where she had applied for a protection order against him.

"Just before I walked into court, I got a telephone, I got a call that he had died. I just broke down. I was crying when I told the magistrate and police".

Penal police officers said they too received a report of his death.

Debbie Mahabir said she went ahead and obtained the protection order.

Her husband yesterday maintained that he came back from the dead and repeated that he did not blame the hospital for any mistakes.

    • Miracle cancer curing herb in Churachandpur?

Appreciation has come from many quarters to Chawlien Hmar, 82, of Saikot village in Churachandpur district for discovering a herb which may prove to be a miracle cancer curing remedy.

The herb is traditionally known as Zanlung Damdei and found in Saikot village and its vicinity.

Hearing of his success, a team of scientists from the Institute of Bioresource and Sustainable Development in Takyelpat under the initiative of the project coordinator Mohindro Singh Khaidem of the Manipur Small Farmers and Agri Business Consortium, collected the Zanlung Damdei plant along with the potions made from the plant from the Chawlein Cancer Medicine Research Agency in Saikot yesterday for sceintific research to find out the chemical component of the plant.

The IBSD team including natural product scientist, Ch Brajakishore with the objective of tapping the potential of this bioresource to convert it into an asset for the state during a visit yesterday.

It was also a rare moment for the team to see the working of the open air laboratory at the Saikot research centre where the plant extracts are prepared with the traditional hand pounding method after the green leaves and tender shoots are obtained from the forest.

Depending on the quantity of leaves adequate water is mixed with it. Though the source of the water could not be ascertained so far there are no reports of patients suffering side effects or from water borne diseases.

The resource persons who visited the research agency commented that the open air laboratory was not that hygienic and there were chances of infection.

They also observed that there were chances of extinction of the life saving plant if the present trend of harvesting the plant continued without replanting and also there were possibilities of major side effects due to adulteration by undesirable toxic plants.

The resource persons further said that unless intellectual property rights are registered soon by the state the plant could be misused by unrightful owners. Therefore, the research and development institute working in the state should immediately intervene and conduct a detailed study of the plant and on the other hand the concerned department should take up measures for its sustainable growth and protection from exploitation.

Hundreds of patients today wait to get treatment given by Chawlein Hmar with his plant extract at the Chawlein Cancer Medicine Research Agency in Saikot village, about 6 kms from Churachandpur town. Most interestingly as the plant has become popular, small vendors and shops on the roadside have the green plants and extracts filled in plastic bottles with plant saplings displayed for sale at their stalls.

    • Badshah the miracle Indian goat on sale for 500,000 rupees!

In Mumbai, the price tag of a goat with 'Allah' on it has been causing a stir on the eve of Bakri Id or Id-ul-Zuha in december 2007. Up for auction at a staggering Rs five crore, Badshah's owner says it is not an ordinary goat.

Mohammed Faiz, a resident of Govandi in suburban Mumbai, says natural markings on the animal resemble the words ''Allah'', Prophet Mohammad and Mecca - all of which make the animal near-priceless.

    • 50 people go blind looking for the image of Virgin Mary in the sun

After rumors that there was a solar image of the Virgin Mary in the sun, believers looked to the sky in the hope that they would be blessed by the miracle, but as science predicts, staring at the Sun can cause blindness. The Kottayam district in India was the venue where at St Joseph’s Eye Hospital 48 cases of vision loss were recorded due to photochemical burns on the retina.

“All our patients have similar history and symptoms. The damage is to the macula, the most sensitive part of retina. They have developed photochemical, not thermal, burns after continuously gazing at the sun,” Dr Annamma James Isaac, the hospital’s ophthalmologist, said.

The victims are mainly women with people as young as 12 damaging their eyes in search of the miracle.
