John Evans Band's New Album "Lucky 13"
Fantastic new record from John Evans, showcasing the "Houston Sound". This album is quite unusual and full of surprises... everytime you think you have the album figured out, it changes direction, rides the elevator up a couple of floors and jumps out the window.
A virtuoso performance from this one of a kind singer/songwriter, tied together by producer Steve Christensen's so-very-not-Austin style.
The release was kicked off by a wonderful performance of the entire album at Houston mainstay McGonigel's Mucky Duck on Saturday, Sept. 20th. The show marked a new beginning for John Evans as well as a return to civilization for America's 4th largest city as it recovered from the devastation of Hurricane Ike.

Southern Backtones and Zenfilm win at Dances With Films
Late last year Zenfilm created a unique music video for psychedelic rockers Southern Backtones. Since its release in 2007 the video has spread across the internet, aired on MTV and Canada's MuchMusic networks, and won many awards. The latest of which is the audience choice award for music video from the 11th Annual Dances With Films Festival in Los Angeles.... which wasn't easy considering the caliber of films and filmmakers competing in the category. Mix Magazine Profiles SugarHill Sessions on Pacifica
With SugarHill sessions voted best radio show by Houston Press..I thought I would share this profile on SugarHill Studio's impressive history.
Last year, SugarHill partnered with the Pacifica Radio Network and launched The SugarHill Sessions radio show, offering a place for local music to shine. Current owner/studio manager Workman said, “With the advent of modern low-cost recording equipment, our new focus is to be the region's production company — the place you go to connect with the people who know how to make your music sound the very best it can. The music can only get better as we are liberated from being ‘the keepers of the holy machines.’ Now, we can concentrate on every aspect of our clients' musical performances.” With SugarHill sessions voted best radio show by Houston Press..I thought I would share this profile on SugarHill Studio's impres... more -

Rock and roll by a gifted band let by one of the most talented singer/songwriters that this old pop culture junkie has heard in a long time. I first heard one of her songs two months ago and still catch myself humming "loose like a marionette." Check them out, it' will take a small amount of time and you might find your next favorite band.
