Birds do it, Bees do it.
JUST TELLING OUR KIDS TO "DON'T DO IT" DOES NOT WORK!
Guess what folks, teaching abstinence-only to young adolescent teens fails in all the studies except the ones conducted by the abstinence-only advocates. Isn't that a shocker? Well, to anyone with a few brain cells, that was a given. From the very beginning, when Bush and his followers rejoiced and couldn't wait to hit us over the head with their abstinence-ONLY asinine program. Of course, we should teach our teenage children good judgement, if that is at all possible when it comes to the powerful instinctual urges belonging to all life, the drive to BEGET. Try telling a teeny bobber about love and responsibility. They'll look at you, the same way you look at a dog chasing his tail, YUP, with complete bewilderment of such a stupidity lag .
But, for most parents, the teen "eye roll" just slides off their back, down to the floor where it can be easily stepped on.
But all sarcasm aside, teaching this program alone is not just block-headed, its outrageously dangerous. By not equipping our young with knowledge on self preservation, we neglect the most basic fact of life, the instinctive teachings of fundamental survival techniques. Go and watch some wild life with their young and you will see such training.
Birds do it, Bees do it, even Monkeys in the trees do it. Let's do it, lets teach our young important "no brainer" essentials, so they can make informed decisions to help preserve our species.

States refusing grants for abstinence education
Only 28 states are still accepting federal funding for "abstinence-only" sexual education. The program is down 40% in just two years.
The abstinence-focused approach has been supported by President George Bush from the beginning of time, as he believes that hiding the facts from kids somehow helps them.
However, scientific research is proving that abstinence-only sex ed simply doesn't work. More kids get pregnant when they don't have adequate information about their own bodies. In fact, the states with the highest rates of teen pregnancy, like Texas, generally support or use some form of abstinence-only education.
More and more people, and states, are realizing that we need to give our kids all the information about sex and their bodies in order to help them make healthy decisions and prevent unplanned pregnancies.
Comprehensive sexual education is becoming increasingly popular and it is being funded by states entirely.
This will be an important issue in the 2008 election, and it has already surfaced. Obama has said that he supports comprehensive sexual education that is age-appropriate beginning in early elementary school and John McCain supports abstinence-only policies.
Here in Texas, it is very unfortunate that we accept the most federal funding for abstinence-only sexual education. This is due in part because our State Board of Education is extremely conservative and asserts its religious views into public policy and because we have representatives like Ron Paul, who support abstinence-only and oppose comprehensive sexual education.
I think this is a good shift, even as a Texan (OMG, he's liberal? can cowboys do that? I wonder what his horse thinks about this....), because I think our kids deserve to know the fats about sex, but what do you think? McCain against Roe v. Wade & Comprehensive Sex-ed
John McCain has a 0% rating from the Planned Parenthood Action Fund because he has consistently voted against women's reproductive rights.
Once again it becomes clear that John McCain's policies are identical to Bush's.
He is opposed to Roe v. Wade and has said that he would like to see it overturned.
He's against Comprehensive Sexual Education and only supports "abstinence-only" education which has been proven to be ineffective and is often tied to bringing religion, and misinformation about sex into the classroom.
He's against making birth control affordable by means of requiring insurance companies to cover it.
Do Americans know enough about John McCain's extreme positions on this critical issues?
Is McCain any different from Bush on reproductive health or a disrespect for the Constitution and the right to privacy?
Take the Bush-McCain challenge and quiz by watching this video and decide for yourself if McCain is really the "maverick" he's cracked up to be.
