Tierarztbesuche sind einer der größten Kostenfaktoren. Und diese werden in Zukunft noch teurer: Anfang Juli hat die Bundesregierung die Gebührensätze für Veterinäre um 12 % angehoben. Kinder im Straßenverkehr- neue Crashtests
Seit Jahren nimmt die Zahl der schweren und tödlichen Unfälle im Straßenverkehr kontinuierlich ab. Dennoch: Jedes Opfer ist eines zuviel. Allein 2006 wurden in Deutschland 136 Kinder unter 15 Jahren bei Verkehrsunfällen getötet und über 34 000 verletzt. Gerade Kinder unterschätzen oft Geschwindigkeiten. Sie sind neugierig, experimentierfreudig und lassen sich leicht ablenken. In einem aktuellen Crashtest sind jetzt ganz gezielt Unfallsituationen mit Kindern nachgestellt worden, um Eltern und Kinder besser auf Gefahren im Straßenverkehr vorzubereiten. Oren Lyons Speaks - A Call to Consciousness on Climate Change
Oren Lyons (Onondaga)
Oren Lyons was born in 1930 and raised in the traditional lifeways of the Haudenosaunee on the Seneca and Onondaga reservations in northern New York State. After serving in the army, Lyons graduated in 1958 from the Syracuse University College of Fine Arts. He then pursued a career in commercial art in New York City. A noted American Indian artist, he has exhibited his paintings widely.
Since returning to western New York in 1970 and joining the faculty of SUNY Buffalo, Chief Lyons has been a leading advocate for American Indian causes. Faithkeeper of the Turtle Clan of the Onondaga Nation, and a member of the Council of Chiefs of the Haudenosaunee, he is respected internationally as an eloquent spokesperson. In 1982, he helped to establish the Working Group on Indigenous Populations within the United Nations and has taken part in meetings of the U.N. Human Rights Commission. He also serves on the executive committee of the Global Forum of Spiritual and Parliamentary Leaders on Human Survival, and is a principal figure in the Traditional Circle of Indian Elders, grassroots leadership council of the major Indian nations of North America.
Chief Lyons has authored or edited numerous books including Native People Address the United Nations (1994); Voice of Indigenous Peoples (1992); and Exiled in the Land of the Free: Democracy, Indian Nations, and the U.S. Constitution (1992).

Martin Luther King III began the Northern New Mexico segment of his Realizing the Dream Listening and Learning Tour for his Poverty Initiative in America with a presentation by the Bosque Conservation Corps Youth in Southeast Albuquerque.

National Service for everyone-Obama looking at expanding service oppurtunities
According to Obama's campaign, the service plan will include:
# Expanding AmeriCorps to 250,000 slots and doubling the size of the Peace Corps;
# Integrating service-learning programs into schools and universities
# Providing new service opportunities for working Americans and retirees;
# Expanding service initiatives that "engage disadvantaged young people and advance their education";
# Expanding the capacity of nonprofit groups to innovate and expand successful programs across the country; and
# Enabling more Americans to serve in the armed forces
"This won't be a call issued in one speech or one program -- I want this to be a central cause of my presidency," Obama said in a speech at the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs.

Sicherlich ist Ihnen schon mal die ein oder andere Fernsehsendung aufgefallen, bei der in einem eingeblendeten Fenster ein Gebärdensprachdolmetscher Nachrichten in Zeichen übersetzt. Ganz klar, das ist ein Service für Hörgeschädigte und Gehörlose. Aber schon bei Filmen, Serien und Unterhaltungssendungen wird es für diese problematisch. Bei nur drei Prozent aller deutschen Sendungen können überhaupt Untertitel angewählt werden – im internationalen Vergleich sind wir damit ein „Entwicklungsland“, denn z.B. in den USA werden 100 % der TV Ausstrahlungen untertitelt. Get rid of “pre-approved” junk mail
I can’t even begin to describe how much I hate the annoying pre-approval offers. It’s one of the most ridiculous things a company can do. Some people like them, those people swap credit cards every couple of months to keep 0% APR. Personally, I don’t like credit cards I prefer debit cards. The thing is, I don’t carry a whole lot of cash on me at all times. It is a liability. If your wallet gets stolen you can’t retrieve cash, but one phone call will cancel your cards. Plus, right now my debit card gets same exact benefits as my credit card, plus cash advance feature. This is my personal thing, use debit card anywhere I go instead of cash. Well, this post is not about financial side of life; it is about the junk mail side of life.
The most annoying thing in the world: Open my mail box with 2-5 credit card/insurance offers. Come on people, I never asked for this. You’re just wasting trees, because once I see any signs of junk mail I rip it to pieces. One of the biggest problems with junk mail is identity theft. They steal your mail from trash or mail box and get a credit card or two to enjoy life, while you suffer the consequences. It’s very common way to acquire personal information. Identity theft is one of the most annoying barriers on your way to success. It is hard to succeed when you have a bad rap and financially are not stable, even though it is not your fault.
Well, I say enough to junk mail. There are two ways you can get yourself removed from the the mailing lists.
1. Calling the creditors. This is easy way to get yourself removed from their mailing list. You just need to call customer service and ask them about getting your information removed from their files. There is, however, a small problem. Some creditors get their mailing lists updated from the credit agency’s mailing lists database. So if you’re on that list you might be added back to the the creditor’s mailing list.
2. Credit Reporting Agency. This is a good and easy way to remove yourself from both lists. http://www.OptOutPrescreen.com was created by the Consumer Credit Reporting Industry to help you eliminate the hassle of pre-approved junk mail. The only thing is that if a creditor does not get their mailing lists from credit reporting agencies they won’t be able to stop that mail; however, step 1 should fix that problem.
These two steps will help you stop creditors from raping your mailbox. Financial side of life is very important to success, as well as one’s reputation among his financial institutions. Take a good care of your finances, and invest into your financial education. It will yield an enormous ROI (return on investment). With the news that YouTube has gone down there are already worried and panicky voices being aired all over the internets...
"Seriously, its starting to scare me," writes one blogger. "If nothing else I need youtube up tonight to watch Transformers Animated and the next episode of 'From the Drawer.' "
