Oasis brothers assaulted on stage
A man in his thirties has been arrested after Oasis' Gallagher brothers were “cold-cocked” in front of 25,000 fans Sunday night on stage at the Virgin Festival on the Toronto Island.
Toronto police say the man either leapt from the crowd or the wings of the stage during the final performance by British rock band Oasis.
The man tackled Noel Gallagher and knocked down his brother, lead singer Liam Gallagher, who was midway through singing Oasis hit “(What’s the Story) Morning Glory?” before he was seized by security.
“The audience seemed shocked at first, the fan came out of nowhere,” said concertgoer Ryan Markle. “There was a lot of gasping and yelling.”
The band dropped its instruments and left the stage almost immediately, prompting the lights to go on and leaving many of the 25,000 fans disgruntled.
After a five minute hiatus, Noel Gallagher emerged to lead the group through another song before Liam Gallagher emerged silently to sing their popular hit “Wonderwall.”
The concert concluded abruptly at 10:30 p.m. with a cover of the Beatles’ “I Am the Walrus.”
Oasis, which has sold more than 50 million albums worldwide, easily outdrew Saturday headliners the Foo Fighters on Sunday at Olympic Island for Virgin Festival. Noel Gallagher to have a beer with Jay-Z
Jay-Z Detractor Cops Pleas, Oasis Front Man Says Comments “Taken The Wrong Way”
What I had meant to say was. That’s what Oasis front man Noel Gallagher should have say right after the comments he made regarding Jay-Z headlining the Glastonbury Festival. Instead, he’s copping pleas now.
“I wasn’t saying I was better than Jay-Z as a person or rock was greater than hip-hop as a thing or whatever it is,” Gallagher told NME. “I said what I said, and it was wrong, or it was taken wrong, and now all this.”
Originally, Gallagher commented on Jay-Z being chosen as the first rap act to head up the musical event.
“I’m sorry, but Jay-Z? No chance. Glastonbury has a tradition of guitar music … I’m not having hip-hop at Glastonbury. It’s wrong.”
Hov not only brought the house down, but he also brought the Brit down to Earth when he entered the stage. Jay-Z walked on stage with a guitar and sang the opening notes of an Oasis song to the cheers of man. The rapper even roasted Gallagher in the opening lines of his new track “Jockin’ Jay-Z,” which he premiered last week with Kanye West at Madison Square Garden.
“That bloke from Oasis said I can’t play guitar/ Somebody should have told him I’m a fucking Roc star.”
Gallagher, however, has no plans to respond.
“For my own part I can sit here and say I never dissed that guy,” he explained. “I never would. But there’s no point in going on about it, because you end up sounding like Heather Mills: ‘I said this! I meant that!’ I’ll have a beer with him one day and it’ll all be fine.” Jay-Z Detractor Cops Pleas, Oasis Front Man Says Comments “Taken The Wrong Way” ... more -

Jay-Z Covers “Wonderwall”
After hearing that Noel Gallagher said he didn’t want Jay-Z performing at Glastonbury, Jay-Z does a cover of “Wonderwall.” Noel Gallagher starts a rock vs. hip-hop feud and Jay-Z comes out on top by proving he has a sense of humor (but unfortunately, not a very good sense of vocal pitch). Speaking for the first time about his much publicised and controversial inclusion as a headliner at this years Glastonbury festival.
In a direct response to Noel Gallagher's claims that the hip-hop star wasn't 'suitable' for the festival, speaking to The Sun, Jay-Z said: "We don't play guitars, Noel, but hip-hop has put in its work like any other form of music. This headline show is just a natural progression. Rap music is still evolving."
Jay-Z also reportedly said he couldn't believe the hype that his inclusion on the bill had created, saying that he'd "never ever had a show that's caused this much of a stir " and that he is really looking forward to it."
