Black Rock Boutique's hexayurt village
The Hexayurt is a prize-winning shelter you can build yourself for about $200. Suitable raw materials include common building materials (insulation boards), hexacomb cardboard and plastic.
Different materials are appropriate for different uses - insulation, extended life, low cost, durability in extreme environments and so on. You cut six 4' x 8' panels in half diagonally to make the roof, and use six more whole panels to form the walls. It takes about two hours. Where's the Mobile Groove Bomb?
I live in Portland, Oregon. Many of my friends have been working all year on one of this city's biggest art projects on the playa (2nd to Basura Sagrada, a.k.a. The Temple) by our dear friend Tuk Tuk.
I would love to see a pod on them, as I'm sadly not at Burning Man this year.
They're located at 3:00 & Esplanade.
